My wife and I checked in on New Years Day after a not so good stay at the Fairfield Inn in Clearwater. While the room was not ready and we had to wait a few minutes, when we arrived at rm 602 it was in perfect condition, clean and ready for our 7 day stay. From the start, check in was flawless and professional, the room was fully stocked with what should be expected. Fresh towels, hair dryer for my wife was perfect, shower essentials, coffee/tea bar and refrigerator was clean. The room was white glove clean, every day when we returned. As we departed in the morning, every housekeeper greeted us as we walked by. While we did not eat at the in house restaurant,,we did order for pickup twice. The pizza we had in our room was made to order and great, stocked with fresh items. My wife also order sweet potato fries, wow, delicious and plenty. Another night we ordered a corn beef deli sandwich, wow, filled just like you get at a NYC deli, fries came with it too. Pricing was reasonable too. During our entire stay, and we are usually in Tampa once a month for a week or so, this hotel was close to being on the top of the list. There was absolutely no hallway noise heard, the king bed was comfortable for a good nights sleep, the shower pressure was right on for showers, can't say enough good things about this property. Unlike our Clearwater stay previous, our housekeeper at this property did her job flawlessly and was appreciated with a generous gift. If management reads this review, I spent 11 years post military retirement as a bellman in a 500+ room hotel in Boston and know hospitality and what it means. Your team has their act together !

Dear Laurence, First, let me say two things. The answer to your question is "Yes." We read and reply to every review that is posted on Trip Advisor. The hotel takes each and every review under consideration. The other thing I'd like to say is I guess it takes one to know one. You were definitely in the business. ( The comment about the white glove gave you away as an expert.) Thank you so much for taking so much of your time to craft such a comprehensive and complete review. I don't believe I have ever seen a more thorough audit report. We hope that we will have the pleasure of being your "go to" hotel from now on every time you come to the Tampa Bay area. We arrived and found the hotel to resemble a renovated embassy suites.
The motif was modern and nice, our window had a sticker saying it was sealed shut with a screw hanging out of the middle. The room was dirty with an open water bottle on the floor from the guest before as well as a dirty floor.
We were staying for multiple night and were told if we needed cleaning service during our stay to let the front office know as they do not come daily by default.

There were two towels in the unit for a family of 5, so immediately we needed more towels; this ended up taking hours.

About 10am we left for the day and stopped by the front desk to ask for our room to be cleaned as it was rather dirty (and now more dirty with childen eating snacks in the room). When we returned that night, the towels were left for us on our couch by the door and nothing else was completed. It was quite disappointing.

When we explained the issue to the front desk, they seemed unapologetic and said the manager ("Jonathan") was out currently, but that we could expect a call that afternoon to make the situation right.

Unfortunately, that too was a disappointment as we still have yet to hear back from anyone weeks later. With so many places to stay in Tampa, the likelihood we will return is rather low now that we had this experience.

Jonathan is a real gentleman at the reception as well as all others.

All services were excellent and my suit 737 was nice and comfy.

Good parking and convenient location with many good restaurants within walking distance

I have stayed seven nights in total (4+3) within 10 days time and the rate was exceptional “ included a special promotion of 2k extra points / each night “ so it was a great offer in a great hotel.

Love the courtyard and the sound of water running make you feel really relaxed

Thank you guys

We had an extended stay at this hotel and ate at the St. James Restaurant on-site practically every single day. The service was excellent - the staff is so friendly and very attentive. Katerina, Nillufer, and Jeff go above and beyond what's expected and exemplify the Marriott brand. The breakfast buffet has a variety of choices for all palates and the professionalism of the staff is refreshing. The location of the hotel is pretty good - just a few minutes drive from the airport, downtown, malls, and restaurants.

First of all, this is a worn down, tired ex-Embassy Suites. The age shows in the rooms with mirrors with the reflective material wearing away and an AC unit that ran the entire time and never reached the set temperature (it was set by housekeeping, because they know). Next, the shuttle stops running at 10PM. This at the time of booking was not mentioned. I called the day of and found out. I didn't cancel, I should have used my status to make them cancel! I finally get to the hotel an hour and a half after dealing with an Uber driver that tried to get me to meet him in the parking garage because of "construction" and I had to wait for a Lyft. While this is not the hotel's fault, had they been honest on their website, I would not have had an Uber driver trying to roll me. When I go to the hotel, I told the clerk that it would be a lot more honest to post the hours on the website. H e stated that he thought they were and I pointed to the shuttle sign with the hours taped over just to his left. In the morning the lobby was a steam bath. I guess AC costs a lot and it is easier to just keep it at 85+? I changed the reservation I had two day s later to a hotel nearby that stated they had a "24/7 airport shuttle" lesson learned.

I chose the Four Points Tampa Airport because of the "points plus cash" option to pay for the room as a Marriott Bonvoy member and proximity to the Tampa airport. I assumed that I would be able to use their complimentary shuttle service offering from the airport however it discontinues service at 10pm so I incurred a $30 one way Lyft charge at 10:15pm instead. The hotel appears to be a former Embassy Suites with the picturesque multi-story atrium with flowing streams and tropical trees which I appreciated after a long flight from snow country. The lobby area is updated and welcoming. However, as I made my way to my room I began to notice the age of the facility. My room door was tricky to open perhaps from years of humidity expanding the wood. And upon entering the room, I felt transported back to my days in college as the room had a "dorm room" vibe. Now for some, this might be fine and somewhat hip. However for me it felt more like a former Embassy Suites room that had been stripped of it's once warm, comfortable and carpeted décor and converted into a utility room feel with laminated wood flooring, dorm room gray paint, random black and white wall hangings and dimly lit lighting. The flat screen TVs in living and sleeping areas were up to date and the king bed was comfortable. And even though I knew there were guests in the rooms on either side of me, the room noise was very quiet. The room temperature was OK however I didn't get the sense that the wall thermostat setting had much influence on the actual room temperature. One of the hotel highlights for me was the indoor pool as it is large with warm water, comfortable lighting and opened at 6am for us early risers. The fitness room was smallish with a dozen machines including three treadmills. As for dining, there is a restaurant onsite however no complimentary breakfast is available even for Titanium Elite level members such as me. And to round out the experience, I was charged $10 for parking at check out which was ironic since I did not have a car and had to pay $30 for a ride from the airport. All in all, I wanted this hotel to be better experience as I always liked the Embassy Suites hotels of yesteryear. And I am very willing to give hotels an ounce of grace as we all try to get back to normal after the pandemic effects on travel. But time has not been a friend to this property and it may be time for another refresh in my opinion if this hotel looks to remain competitive in the area.

Dear Guest, Thank you for staying with us during your recent visit to Tampa and sending us your comprehensive review of our hotel. I thank you for your time. In all the years of doing this job, I have never seen a better composed letter. I have only two things to add. The rooms were totally re-done in 2021 to the current Four Points standard. As you say, the sleek look with grey walls is not to everyone's taste. and second, if your $10 parking fee has not yet been refunded to you, please call the Accounting Manager and she will take care of it. We hope to see you again, whenever your plans bring you back to Tampa. Sincerely, Robert D, Guest Relations Manager

I've stayed here a few times before which were fine.
Not so fine this time.
First room had no hit water even after I was told it was fixed. I was given a new room on my request. This one had hot water.
I was charged a higher rate than I was quoted when I booked, by about $25. Fortunately I had the recorded phone call to back up my claim.
Even the recorded statement wasn't enough for them to honor the included breakfast I was quoted. At this point I was too tired to continue with the desk clerk.

Dear Allen, First, let me thank you for choosing to stay with us again. We value you continued support. And second, let me apologize for the lack of hot water during your stay. We did our best to get the boiler fixed as quickly as possible, but some times best just isn't good enough. Once it was fixed, it took a longer time than expected to get hot water up 8 floors to all 260 rooms. Some rooms got hot water before others. Since these are "blind reviews," I do not know why you were charged a different rate upon your arrival and there's no way I can research it. Hopefully, such a situation will not ever occur in the future, but if it does, please do not hesitate to leave a manager a physical note so that we may work things out to your satisfaction. Once again, I apologize and appreciate your patience during our rough spot. We hope to see you again the next time you are back in Tampa. Youi know that after we get all the new flooring installed, we're getting all new furniture. That should be exciting. Robert D, Guest Relations Manager

We booked this hotel because of the indoor pool and wanting something to do with the kids in case the weather wasn’t so great. So at least the pool was nice. It went to 8 ft deep but still had a decent size shallow end and it was heated. The floor of the pool looked like it needed a good scrub, but I ignored that as the kids enjoyed it.

Our room was ehh. Even though they say there is a “commitment to clean” we found a dirty glove behind the curtains which tells me they don’t do a great job in the cleaning department. It took FOREVER for the water to heat up and it was warm at best. The tub would barely drain so you are standing in ankle to calf deep water during your shower. We asked maintenance to fix it, and it still never drained at a normal rate. We ended up leaving a night early we were so disappointed. We did get a refund on that night but honestly, for the amount we paid I expected a lot more, especially from a Marriott Property.

Arrived here around 3pm & and found a parking space close to the door. Our room was ready also. (I really don’t understand early check-in since you still have to go to the frontdesk to check in & show your credit card & id so never could figure out any advantage). Room was clean and comfy - we liked the suite setup of the 2 separate rooms. Hot water took a few minutes to arrive, but it did so all was ok. Elevators were quite slow and had minds of their own at times. Everyone was pleasant and helpful that we encountered. The open area was very inviting with all the fauna and greenery.

We decided to have dinner there to save time since we were going to a nearby concert. Menus were printed sheets of paper with very limited options. We were served our Fish & Chips in boxes with flimsy plastic utensils – that was different. It was tasty and good size portions so we dealt with it. Many dirty tables, not enough staff, long waits. However, the next morning we tried to have breakfast there and after 20 minutes gave up. The restaurant should not be open period – they do not
have the staff to accommodate and until they do, it should be closed. Dinner was ok at best but breakfast was a disaster with many dirty tables, no coffee in urns, only 2 waitresses we saw doing their very best to manage tables, phones, coffees, clean up etc. We went to the Waffle House close by for a good breakfast.

This hotel should do far better in this area – very disappointing esp to Bonvoy Elite members. (p.s. shuttle bus to/from concert outrageously priced so be aware if you use)

Dear Guest, Thank you for staying with us during your recent trip to Tampa and sending us your comprehensive review. We appreciate all your time and effort. On the first visit to our hotel, the system requires that we actually see and I D the guest for security purposes. After that, you will only need to stop by the desk if you need a parking pass. We have re-opened our restaurant by popular demand for breakfast during football weekends and special events like the Rolling Stones concert. It is a struggle for for us to acquire additional help, but most guests are understanding, especially those who do not have cars or do not want to get out into traffic. We use a private shuttle company to take our guests to and from the stadium and other special venues. We have found his prices to be very competitive and, if your purchase a round trip, he guarantees to bring you back in a timely manner, something most others will not do. There is no advance purchase required. Guests sign up at the front desk and pay the driver when he comes. Everyone knows what they are going to pay before they board the bus. Once again hank your for your time and business. We hope to see you again whenever your plans bring you back to Tampa. Sincerely, Robert D, Guest Relations Manager

I worked in hospitality at a Marriott for 4 years, so I expect the best, but of course understand when some things happen out of someone’s control. 1. Upon walking into the hotel we were not greeted at all, but immediately told to put a mask on. Not even greeted after we put masks on. Of course we understood that everywhere has different standards when it comes to masks, but to not even be greeted was mind blowing. 2. After putting our masks on and standing there to get checked in, the gentleman did not ask my name for the room reservation so I just said it. 3. He checked me in and did not tell me a single thing about the hotel, not even where the elevators were. 4. I went to the front desk after coming from the pool so I could add a name to my reservation so a guest could get a key later that night, I didn’t have a mask with me cause I literally came from the pool. The lady at the desk said she couldn’t help me without a mask, I explained my situation and asked if she had one. She said no and that she couldn’t help me without a mask. If you are going to require a mask, they should be provided. 5. Someone moved our things off our towels in the pool areas and stole our towels. When we told the front desk they got us towels (great) but were not concerned that our things were touched and showed no sympathy. 6. Fridge in room was leaking when we returned from the pool, thankfully the maintenance replaced it (great). 7. Elevators are beyond slow...so don’t even bother and take the stairs. 8. Music was playing all night, extremely annoying for our friend trying to sleep on the pull out bed by the door. 9. AC unit made a big thud sound every time it turned off.

Honestly, overall not impressed with the hospitality with the people or quality of this hotel. I hold Marriott brands to a higher standard than what we received. Hopefully this comment will be taken into consideration and they will try to improve.
