The Tampa Marriott Water Street offers spacious rooms that guests find comfortable, though some critique the dated styling and upkeep. The array of amenities, including a pool and fitness center, generally please travelers, yet a few cite shortcomings like shower space and elevator functionality. Service is lauded for being warm and efficient, despite occasional lapses in speed and organization. Visitors enjoy the contemporary lobby and vibrant ambiance, but opinions on decor vary. Cleanliness is mostly commended, though some inconsistencies were noted. While the location is celebrated for its proximity to local attractions, the perceived value is diminished by high costs and underwhelming amenities.

I stayed here for three nights while in town for a conference, and had a wonderful experience for my entire stay. The check-in process went smoothly; the front desk staff were friendly and welcoming, which made my experience much better after I arrived late due to flight delays. The lobby has a modern feel to it, which I liked. My room was spacious and comfortable; my bed was stacked with soft pillows, and the bathroom was bright and user-friendly. The hotel is right on the water, which afforded gorgeous views from both the lobby and my room. The hotel is in a very central location, so you can walk to a lot of restaurants and activities from here.

I generally enjoy staying at Marriott hotels, but my recent stay was somewhat disappointing in terms of cleanliness. After flying into Tampa, I stayed at the Marriott on Water Street. I chose this location because it was close to the arena where I was attending a concert that night and had a great view of the harbor.

When I checked in, Sasha assisted me and made me feel like a valued Elite member. She thoroughly explained all the amenities the hotel offered and the benefits I would receive as an Elite member. As is my routine at any hotel, I first checked the view and then sprayed the bed and other areas with Lysol. Unfortunately, when I pulled back the sheets, I found a noticeable stain that looked like it might be a bodily fluid. I took a picture and called housekeeping to have the sheets changed.

While getting ready for the concert, I inspected the towels. The first towel was fine, but the second had a small stain, and the third had a dried-up booger. To top it all off, I woke up to find my sink backed up.

I reported the sheet issue to Manager Robert Little, who was eager to correct the situation. He informed me that he would address the issue with the housekeeping manager and offered me a suite as compensation. I declined the offer since I was only staying for one night.

Overall, I like the hotel, but housekeeping needs to improve significantly!

The bulk of the cost for this hotel is for the view and being close to the pier, not because it is an extravagant hotel. We chose this hotel because we had a cruise booked and wanted it to be easier to get there in the morning. The beds are comfortable and the rooms were clean and spacious. The pool is an outdoor one so not ideal for when we traveled but I’m sure it’s a great space when it’s warmer out. We ended up ordering room service which was so quick our food was piping hot when it got to us. Overall I would recommend but know that your cost is for location.

When I stayed here back in 2020 I didn't have such a great experience, I had bad customer service issues BUT this time around I was there for 3 days and from check in to check out everyone was wonderful.

I was able to check in early on Thursday and I believe the person who checked me in was named Tyler and he made sure I had a room upgrade as a Titanium member. It was a really quick transaction and within minutes I went into my room which was a pretty large corner room.

The room had an overly large patio looking over the water and was on the concierge lounge. I was only able to enjoy the concierge lounge for 1 day as it is not open on weekends. The evening I did enjoy it they had amazing food (beef Wellington minis YUM) and a full bar.

There are restaurants in the hotel including a Starbucks. There is also premade food for those who have late night munchies. DoorDash, Uber Eats will also deliver and leave your food in the lobby.

The only negative experience I had was in their restaurant called LONA, the food actually made me feel sick but that wasn't enough to say negative things about the rest of my stay. Kristin, Krissy, Alex, and everyone at the front desk were excellent! Also on my way out on the 2nd day it was raining out of nowhere and the bellmen offered me an umbrella to use for the day to my short walk to the convention center.

I would stay here again.

This large hotel, which is actually connected to the JW Marriott via a corridor - is wonderfully located on Water St. As Elite status members, we were upgraded to a fabulous room on the 9th floor with balcony overlooking the water...great for people watching!

The location is great with the free trolley bus station just outside the hotel. There's a decent gym with Matrix equipment and a heated pool with plenty of lounging space. The large indoor/outdoor bar & restaurant is a great place to spend the evening, and included live music when we were there. We did find the bar quite expensive and drinks were served without any accompanying nibbles which we thought was a bit tight.

The one real annoyance was that the Club Lounge was closed over the weekend for no logical reason. Instead, we were both given a $10 voucher which just about covered continental breakfast & coffee (it's not readily visible on the menu but that was the deal we were offered).

Still, overall we liked the hotel and enjoyed our brief stay.

As a BonVoy member I asked for a king and was given room 1406. If you look at the evacuation map on the inside of the room door you can tell this is one of the smallest rooms they offer. I guess membership doesn’t have privileges. The view from this room is 1/3 of a concrete wall (beautiful). The bathroom needs renovations/touch up at least. If this is a representation of membership privileges, I’m reconsidering it all. Add in the fact that you have to purchase certain specific pool side chairs… come on people. I appreciate the variety of restaurants in and around the hotel. Wish the bars stayed open to at least 1AM. And please clean the lobby furniture every so often, especially the cloth furniture… food and drink spots are a bad look.

Really liked the hotel for the most part. Its a gorgeous building located on the water. Their is a trolley stop and water taxi stop right by the entrance. The lobby is really well done, and the rooms are as well. The fitness center and pool are both very good. There is a Starbucks attached to the lobby and a very good fancy ice cream shop just outside the front entrance.
A few negatives:
The rooms do show a decent amount of wear and tear and some sloppy paint jobs in the bathroom especially. Despite that, the bed and bathroom were clean and comfortable.
The club lounge is still closed....over a year since the pandemic began. As a Platinum member, I was given a $10 breakfast voucher per day to use at any of the restaurants. $10 gets you a basic continental breakfast at the restaurant or you can put it towards anything else, which I did on the first day to get eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast, which was tasty. The second day I used the voucher at Starbucks for a large coffee drink and a breakfast sandwich. $10 is too small. They should make it $20 for elite members to cover a proper breakfast. OPEN THE CLUB LOUNGE! Its time to do it.
Tip: You are allowed to use the gym and pool at the JW Marriott attached via the 3rd floor skybridge. Both facilities are nicer and the JW has free water bottles in both areas, which the regular Marriott does not.

First let me say that the staff were pleasant and professional. The location was nice but would have been difficult to find without the help of a GPS. The routes in and out were convuluted by one way streets and construction. There were good resturaunts and other attractions within resonable walking distances.

The negatives include:
Cost of valet parking is high, $38.00/night, and unassisted parking is .2 miles away which on a nice day isn't bad but is a long way in inclement weather.
You have to use a bellman for a lot of luggage because they don't allow you to use the bell carts.
There are only two microwaves available for guests and they are on the 5th and 15th floors. The in room refrigerators are very small with a very limited capacity.
Vending on residence floors consists of a drink machine with six selections and some of those machines have been out of service for some time.
Ice machines are co-located with the vending machines but only on even numbered floors requiring an elevator ride or hike in the stairwell if your on an odd numbered floor. I am elderly and spent a bit of my stay waiting for elevators to get a bucket of ice. Because of our age and some infirmity we asked for a room with handicapped modifications. The first room they assigned us was clearly not designed with a non-handicapped guest in mind. The closet had a clothes rod suited for a wheel chair occupant but no place to hang a ladies dress or other long items.
The rooms had no adequate storage. There was on small cabinet with two small drawers and safe in the closet and each nightstand had a large drawer but my spouse liks to unpack for anything longer than overnight and the rooms did not allow for that.

Spent 2 nights at the Water Street hotel using Free Night Certs from my credit cards. Great use of certs since it was over $350 per night. I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. Prior to arriving I was able to confirm an upgrade to a King balcony room with River View. Plus, 4pm checkout.

The purpose of the trip was to solely relax and hang out at the pool during the day, which is exactly what we did. Plenty of chairs on the pool deck and a nice breeze with the pool being on the 3rd floor. However, only a few chairs along the back wall have umbrellas, not sure if they put them away for the winter or they just don’t have them. Bar and Grill available with hamburgers and hot dogs or you can order from room service and have it delivered.

Room was recently refreshed and comfortable. AC kept the room cool at night, bathroom had lots of room and counter space. Got a good night’s sleep and woke up refreshed.

Best part the lounge was open and back to pre-covid days. Opens Sunday evening through Friday breakfast. Breakfast buffet, hors d’oeuvres in the evening with dessert. Large outside patio connect to the lounge on the 24th floor. Only down side, when the lounge is closed you only get a $20 credit for the breakfast buffet on Saturday, only option. The credit does not cover the buffet cost. It would be nice to either comp the buffet for platinum and above or offer more options for breakfast to include a continental breakfast.

Lots of restaurants on site, but we opted to walk down to Sparkman’s Warf. Felt very safe walking around the hotel in the evening. If you don’t want to walk you can hop on the free street car, stop is just across the street from the hotel.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend.

What an amazing hotel!! The location was perfect, across the street from Amalie arena and the trolley stop. The roof top pool was HUGE, lots of chairs, a pool bar, grill on weekends that served burgers, hot dogs, chicken and fish sandwiches, and live music. Had a room on the 20th floor with a view of the waterway/marina. Rooms were very nice and everything was spotless. Had a king room, that had a small couch/sitting area. Bathroom was bright and roomy with a nice shower. My only complaint would be that you could hear all the hallway noise and the ice machine. Rooms need better sound insulation. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant, it was a buffet or order off menu. We chose the buffet, made to order omelets, pastries, eggs, meats, etc... very good but pricey. There is also a starbucks in the hotel lobby for those that want a quick bite. Had drinks at the outdoor lobby bar, those were not very good and also expensive. Lobby was absolutely beautiful and you could walk to the JW via a walkway. All the JW amenities are available to guests at both hotels. We did not use any of the JW's but did check out the hotel. Better drinks and food available in the area. Will definitely be back when the Lightning are playing!
