Detailed Reviews
I spent my birthday at this hotel for just one night and it was a great experience.
Kelley at the front desk as a new employee is a great addition to your team and was so kind and welcoming. She deserves to be recognized by management.
The hotel is in a great location in the Soho/Hyde Park area and I took advantage of the bikes available to explore the area for hours.
The room was spotless and as someone who travels the world often I never write reviews about hotels but especially in this challenging time of a Pandemic for travelers and hotels alike this stay deserved a great review. Keep up the great work Kelley and team!

We enjoyed our recent visit to the Epicurean hotel in Tampa. We stayed here as it is directly across the street from Bern’s Steakhouse and a block from the Haven( see separate reviews). The hotel itself is partnered with the Bern’s group so everything here, including the restaurant, is also part of that group. As Bern’s has a wonderful wine program, the bar here was also very good.
We arrived on a Monday night when everything in the hotel is closed! Only room service available. We walked down the street to the Haven and had a great time.
Much of the hotel services are closed until the weekends due to the pandemic. I’m sure if you stay here on the weekend you will have a better time.
Our room was very nice , with a very comfortable bed and nice rain shower bathroom. Now, due to pandemic, the room is stripped of coffee makers and robes. We did ask the front desk the night before to have our roomed cleaned by housekeeping, but it did not happen.
Also, if you are a light sleeper, this hotel is directly across from a major freeway, so you will here traffic all night.
The staff, including valets, were very friendly and professional.
We would stay here again, but would wait until better times when all services and amenities are available. Pretty pricey for what you don’t get!

Hello there donaldh886! Thank you so much for staying with us recently and for taking the time to share your story and feedback around not only our hotel but Bern's Steak House and Haven. We work closely together to provide our guests and the local Tampa Bay community with some of the most sought after food and drink options in the area. We are feverishly working to get our food and beverage offerings back online and available to our guests. At this time we plan on having everything back online in mid-January and hope to welcome you back then for a truly Epicurean experience. Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts and for understanding of the situation our team is in. It's support like yours that is so crucial to our industry at this time. Happy Holidays! The Epicurean is as good as it gets for hotels. Beautiful hotel, perfect location, and accommodating staff. From the second you arrive at the Epicurean, you are greeting by staff who go above and beyond to make sure you’re taken care of. The lobby is beautiful and smells incredible from the delicious Tipsy Candle Co. candles for sale. Today, our check-in concierge, Vanessa, was super friendly kind and helpful—made us feel right at home! Definitely a grade A establishment.

The hotel was highly recommended given it's proximity to many restaurants in Tampa and it's supposedly cool rooftop bar(which was not open all week so I never saw it). I usually stay at other hotels but thought I would give this a try. Very disappointed from the beginning and ultimately checked out a day early and moved to a different/better hotel down the road. Typical of Marriott, there was no upgrade to suite for me even though I have high status and the hotel appeared to be at very little capacity. I never have this issue at Hilton properties! The room I was given was supposedly in the quiet area of the hotel and on top floor(they only have 4 floors). I do not think there is a quiet area of the hotel as my room overlooked a very busy street and was noisy all day due to this, but the other side overlooks an extremely busy highway. The view from the room was offensive(see photo below). Many other hotels in Tampa have awesome water views or are in cool shopping areas. On day #2 I came back to the room in the afternoon and had extreme construction noise(drilling/hammering) coming from the room beside mine. Why would I be placed in a room that was right beside a construction site? I spoke to the manager and he said that he had no idea that the construction would be taking place(apparently getting ready for Super Bowl and adding new tv lines throughout hotel). Anyways, I had to work in the lobby the remainder of the day given the noise. The very next morning the noise began at 9am sharp and I checked out and went to another hotel(which by the way was far superior to this particular hotel). I could see this hotel as being acceptable if the rooftop bar is open and you were in town for a day or two solely to party your days/nights away, but it is not acceptable for business travelers seeking high end and comfortable surroundings. While there are a ton of restaurants close, the hotel sits in a nasty little stretch on this particular road. Only bonus is that it is right across street from Berns(which I love), but one can always uber from a much better hotel a few miles away.

Hello there mrnuspine! Thank you so much for staying with us and trusting us to provide you with a clean and comfortable experience during these uncertain times. We are terribly sorry to have let you down with regards of a lack of upgrades, some of our outlets closed and noise issues. As a smaller, more intimate property we don't have a lot of suites and given the demographic of traveler as of late the suites are being booked directly which leaves us with no opportunity to upgrade. This pains us as we know how much time our elite Bonvoy members stay in Marriott hotels. Please note that we are expanding our property across which will provide many more opportunities for suite upgrades. (The expansion will take place exactly where your photo references) With the current state restrictions we've had to make some tough and unfortunate decisions with regards of closing EDGE, our rooftop bar. We are sorry and as soon as we can open up we plan to! Our team tried to reach out the moment we were told of the noise but we were unsuccessful in reaching you. We would never knowingly put any guest next to such noise and are terribly sorry that it happened. We understand that you have many option in the Tampa Bay area and would love to welcome you back to experience the expansion, a well deserved complimentary upgrade and of course Bern's Steak House. If I can be of any assistance in making a future reservation for a true Epicurean experience please don't hesitate to reach out. Kind regards, Kevin Scott kscott@epicureanhotel.com

Epicurean Hotel is a smaller hotel in a gentrified area near many interesting restaurants and across from the famous Bern's Steakhouse. Although I didn't take advantage of the ammenities in the lobby area, there are places to eat and have drinks and an ice cream shop steps away from the lobby. The room has upscale linen and pillows and a mattress that felt like it could be memory foam. It is easy to keep the thermostat below 70 if you like a cool room like I do. Housekeeping did a great job and the valet service was excellent with young polite gentlemen running to get cars quickly and very appreciative of tips. I will stay here again as I like the location and the boutique feeling of this property.

Overall, a nice boutique hotel in a great walkable area filled with charming shops, restaurants, and stately homes. The room and all common areas appeared to be very clean. Staff was friendly and efficient, and the glass of wine at check-in is a nice touch. Valet parking is required and runs $20/day. One gripe: Some of the Covid safety measures appear to be in the interest of cash savings for the hotel instead of true safety. For example, no breakfast is served, which is funny because all of the hotel branding centers around a "foodie" lifestyle. If the Hilton Garden Inn I stayed at last month can manage to turn out some omelettes every morning, this place (much more upmarket) should be able to figure it out. Although they don't run a breakfast, the same restaurant opens for dinner every night. Also, the rooftop bar is closed for the same reason, but hosted a private event during our stay. I didn't drop the rating to 3 stars, but I am hoping the management sees this post and decides to change some of their practices.

Hello there 27bobm! Thank you so much for staying and for taking a moment to share your story with us. Thrilled to hear you enjoyed your experience and found the local area to your liking. We are so fortunate to be located in the heart of South Tampa and across from the iconic Bern's Steak House. In regards of your comments you are absolutely correct. These are very uncertain times and we are having to be very strategic about the steps we are taking to ensure the safety of our guests and team members. As local, county and state restrictions start to ease up we will absolutely be bringing on more food and beverage offerings. Please note that a major reason why we haven't opened up our rooftop or additional meal periods is that we will be renovating our kitchen in the next few weeks. We will be opening up the roof and additional meal periods once this is complete in late October. Again, thank you for staying and we hope to welcome you back to for a true Epicurean experience later on this year or in early 2021. Kind regards, Kevin Scott kscott@epicureanhotel.com

+1
I love Marriott adventures. The service staff was great and the room was always cleaned promptly with the extra ammentiies we needed. The menu at the onsite restaurant left alot to be desired. Oyr friends at the next table could never seem to slect a wine that was in stock. I know that the staff will return as the year gets better but if you only have a few pairing they need to be flawless. On site renovations show they are working to improve but this was a miss on this trip maybe next time? The competition is pretty fierce at the price point for hotels that boast a boutique experience.

The hotel has a "cool" vibe about it. Very nice amenities on 1st floor, wine or alcohol tastings each of the 3 days I was there. Top floor has a roof top bar. It's walking proximity to many restaurants on Howard Ave, directly across the street from Berns steakhouse, Little Midway ice cream shop right on sight, and short walk to Bayshore walking path.
I would recommend asking for a room facing Howard Avenue. The back side rooms face the parking garage and the downside is that is the only structure separating hotel from a highway. I had to ask to switch because of the highway noise. Staff was very nice and accommodating about it.

I really was rooting to have a great stay here because of the very good service and very nice staff. But the hotel is just, ok. I had a room facing the freeway and it became unbearable to sleep in the room, since either they need to invest in impact glass to block out the noise, or have a better quality impact glass of they in fact have one.
Very good restaurant with again, excellent service and very good food and prices, but the lack of comfort in the room was a turnoff for me. It almost seems like the hotel was built around the restaurant since the focus seems to be in the culinary and service opposed to the actual rooms.
I would definitely stay here again in another room that’s not facing the depressing freeway or if they have soundproof glass. Without this, I absolutely would not stay here again. Go for the food instead.

This was our first time to stay at this hotel. We were there for one night before heading to the east coast of Florida and then back again for four nights before heading home from our vacation. The staff was fantastic. They remembered your name, asked how you were doing and truly cared about your stay and making sure everything went smoothly. The hotel is small and quiet and has a fantastic restaurant in it, it is right across the street from Bern's Steakhouse and you can walk to numerous other restaurants up and down Howard Ave in Tampa. We have already booked to come back next fall.

They do offer a 1 bedroom suite. It's featured on the hotel website.
Call the hotel desk. They are very nice. There is a sweet shop with ice cream and cookies, etc. next door.
Not at all! Thanks for checking and we look forward to welcoming you. Safe travels and look to see you soon.
Kind regards,
The Epicurean Team
Unfortunately, we don't have a water view. We are a short walk from Bayshore Blvd. and have complimentary bikes available to see and experience the city.
Hope to welcome you soon!
