Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI

Guests have called out the Hilton Tampa Downtown for its prime location and the convenience it offers, being close to Riverwalk and local attractions. While the hotel's cleanliness and amenities, including a pool and gym, frequently receive compliments, opinions are split regarding its value, with some noting the service is responsive yet prices steep and facilities dated. The rooms are generally praised for their tidiness and comfort, but some travelers have pointed out maintenance issues and a need for updates. Additionally, while the staff's friendliness and professionalism are often commended, a few guests have had mixed experiences with service responsiveness and communication.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel September 17-20. The hotel was very clean and I was glad that they took extra cleaning precautions due to Covid-19. Our room had special sanitizing stickers that stated that our room had been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. The bed was comfortable, but I wasn't a fan of the pillows. A little too soft for my preference. This hotel is within walking distance to lots of restaurants. Overall, we had a great stay and I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Attended a conference at the Amalie Arena but stayed at this hotel. It was fantastic. As a Hilton Honors Gold member, I had the pleasure of staying on the Executive floor. Our first room had a couple issues, but they were quick to fix the issue by changing our rooms. We stayed for 1 week. Breakfast was fantastic. Maid service impeccable. The lovely smell of disinfectant when we got back to our room was amazing. She/he even folded up items that were left lieing around. Best room cleaning ever. Also used the gym which had great treadmill, elliptical, weights, etc.
They do not have a free shuttle but if you phone Old Blue shuttle, it costs $15 per person to get to the hotel. Very reasonable price. A great thing to do is the Riverwalk. Very quaint. Overall, an excellent hotel in an excellent location.

I'm a disabled veteran who is wheelchair bound and I was here along with the DAV group and this hotel's attitude toward me was horrible. The front desk workers seemed to be bothered I was asking them about the hotel, and the room was barely accessible. The rooms are okay, but I have seen better. I travel a lot and review a lot of places and this is one of the worst experiences I've had with a hotel. Not to mention its in the center of downtown, which is fine but nothing really close for food. No complimentary shuttle, nothing! The only pleasant experience I had was with a young lady named Rebecca who worked the Valet Services. She took time, and was very patient with me and very kind. She gave me the most amazing recommendations for dining and listened to me ramble without having a disgusted look on her face like the front desk workers. Rebecca is a complete gem and I am so pleased to see a well mannered young lady working as hard as she was at this location.

Front desk was helpful and tried to accommodate our reservation, but rooms were limited, and ultimately we were placed in a room that differed in configuration and price than what we had booked online. Rooms are spacious enough, and standard if not appearing a bit dated (worn carpet and mold in bath). Not very well insulated in terms of noise. Access to Executive club a bonus as an Honors member, nice breakfast and afternoon snacks--alcoholic beverages are extra. Waitstaff in restaurant for breakfast was efficient and accommodating. Big weddings for two of three nights, as well as convention. Disturbances on last night of stay made sleeping nearly impossible. Location is excellent if you want to be in the downtown area and close to the riverwalk. Ended up driving to other locations 15-20 mins. away for two of three dinners; Clearwater Beach is a 45 min. drive.

As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I enjoy staying at different properties across Hilton's portfolio. Having stayed elsewhere in the city the last time I visited, I decided to try this Hilton. It is near the Riverwalk, and around the corner from the end of the TECO Line Streetcar, two activities I would be doing during my 24 hours in the city.

As I always do, I checked-in online and selected a room the day before my arrival. The digital key to the room came early, which is great considering that I had arrived in town by train around 1 PM. Upon arrival, I went directly to my room and found it very welcoming after walking several miles, including from the train station and about half the Riverwalk in two directions.

The room was certainly adequate for my needs. Plenty of space in the room for my belongings. No issues with the TV or WiFi. The bathroom had enough room to put down my toiletries. No problems with water pressure or temperature. Climate control in the room was easy to figure out.

I did not partake of the $15 credit I was entitled to, because I didn't want to pay for breakfast and I'm not a breakfast person. Nothing on the dinner menu appealed to me. I did inquire by text if my credit could be used in the hotel's gift shop, and was told I could not. Some Hilton family hotels do allow one to use the credit in their market shops so I could at least stock up on snacks for the rest of my trip.

I did have some interface with the front desk, as my phone battery died while I was out, so with ID they were able to give me a plastic key so I could get back in the room. And because I had the plastic key I did check-out in person rather than doing it on the Hilton app as I often do. No issues with that, as my receipt was e-mailed to me.

Overall this is a nice place and it's very convenient to anything you may want to do in downtown Tampa.

We stayed here two nights at the tail end of a three week visit to Florida. I picked the hotel since it was close to the river walk and close to the airport. I reserved a room on the "executive floor" which cost extra and that was a waste of money. The executive lounge is not open and the complimentary breakfast is very basic. An upgraded breakfast with eggs and bacon costs additional money. Valet parking is $35 a day here which is the most we paid in Florida. The pool on the 5th floor is beautiful, especially at night with the city lights. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was showing some wear and still has a fabric shower curtain.

I was really expecting an updated hotel with great amenities. I was wrong. The room is very small with the toilet lined up next to the sink. The closet is super small too with sliding doors so you can only ever have about a foot clearance to put anything in it. There is no luggage rack either so if you have more than 2 people’s bags, you’re in trouble. There were ring marks on the night stand so that was obviously not cleaned. My access to the fitness center did not work or they close the gym early. Frustrating. Terrible customer service at the front desk. The vending machine on our floor was out of water so we went down to get some from the gift shop but OH NO, that closes at 6PM. We asked the front desk where else we could get water (a case was on the shelf right behind her in clear sight). She asked us our room #, looked at something on her computer and then told us that every floor has a vending machine so we should go try them. What??? Floor to floor for water? I guess the head tilt I gave her let her know that was not the response I expected. She turned and gave us 2 bottles from the case but said “these are supposed to be for our Silver and Gold members”. She was NOT happy about having to do that. The value for the room quality and customer service was not worth what I paid at all.

The staff was not overly helpful and I was unable to get my room cleaned when I wanted it cleaned. The staff also forgot to call me on the morning of my flight despite my asking for a wake up call. Not the worst place but definitely fell short of expectations.

We were there the weekend prior to Thanksgiving for two nights. Checked in Sunday night and we were told upon check-in that the room service was not automatic. They asked if we would like to schedule room service so we said yes for the next day.
Well, room service showed up at 8:30am ( no card in our room to ask not to be disturbed) so we asked them to come back later in the day as we hadn't even woken up yet.
We left at 10:30 and told the front desk that they could come anytime for the room service.
Got back around 3:00 and they had still not come so we called downstairs and were told they would send someone. At this point we went to the pool. Upon arrival, no towels in sight. So I called front desk to ask for towels and it took about 30 minutes.
Went back to the room and finally, someone shows up at about 5:00 with towels. I told them we wanted full room service (new glasses, garbage changed, etc). This took another hour.

Valet service was very courteous but super slow on Monday night after the football game upon our return. Easily 15 cars waiting to be parked and one employee. At $37/ day, they need more employees.

Overall, this is a very nice hotel, but the service was lackluster.
