I decided at the last minute to stay at the Le Petit Paradis Guesthouse for four days during recent traveled to Dominica to visit family. Joan and Al were very hospitable, made me feel at home, and as if they were part of my family as well. On a few occasions, I came in late and was so grateful that...

We stayed here as it was the first place our tired legs carried us to after finishing hiking a segment of the Waitukubuli Trail. The place was pretty, well taken care of, and had a nice atmosphere. However, the guy who checked us in was promptly yelled at for telling us the wrong price by the owner, who then huffed...

This guesthouse is a completely lovely place to stay. The hosts are extremely friendly people, who were happy to help with anything we needed and even offered us any fruit we wanted form the lush garden behind the guesthouse. The meals in the restaurant are delicious, but you can cook yourself in a kitchenette if you want to. There are...

Joan and Al’s guesthouse and restaurant reflect the nature and beauty of Dominica. The landscape is spectacular with lots of friendly birds around to observe. The rooms are very comfortable - you can even pick fruit from the trees near the balcony! We really enjoyed the family team at Le Petit Paradis: Joan cooks delicious, healthy meals and Al is...

I had been hiking the Waitukubuli National Trail for almost three days. I was wet, worn and haggard. So when I finished the section of the trail that literally ends at the entrance of the hotel/hostel, I stopped, for two days. The food was perfect! It was clean and had hot water. The dorm rooms were full but the private...

Day three of hiking the at times very arduous Waitukubuli Trail. We were hot, sweaty, hungry, wet from the rain and ready for a rest. Literally like an oasis, out we emerged from Segment Three and there is was: Le Petit Paradis. Al and Jean greeted us with smiles and we were shown to our cute, little room! Clean, two...

We stayed in the rooms with a private bathroom. It was clean and simple. Only a 5 minute walk to one of the hot springs and another 10 minutes to two others (Tia and Screws). It is a little noisy, if you've never camped or cottaged; however, I'm not bothered by the sounds of nature. Many types of birds are...

We had called Joan and made a reservation over the phone and then I e-mailed her to confirm. We wanted her unit that had a kitchen, because of our need to cook for ourselves. There were no pictures of the unit, but the explanation sounded good and it was in our price range. The Roseau Valley is very expensive compared...

We stayed at Le petit paradis due to the many good reviews. Unfortunately we were not too satisfied. The rooms are more open shacks which is not really helpful during rainy days on Domenica. We didn't feel too comfortable as rooms are a bit cold and you could hear everything during night and in the morning (e.g. rain, chickens, cars...)....

This is not a luxury resort, but is ideally designed as a base for hiking Dominica. We had the Bois Bande room which is large with its own shower and toilet but very, very basic. Breakfasts and dinners are great but you do not have a choice, Joan makes big and flavourful meals but you get what she decides for...
