I can’t say enough good things about Crescent Moon Cabins. Ron & Jean are your hosts and some of the most welcoming, kind and down to earth people you will ever meet. They have created a true oasis in the mountain side and it’s something you need to experience. The accommodations are clean, beautiful and peaceful. They grow all their own food and will cook you meals that are incredibly delicious. Hands down the best food we ate on the island (and beats most of the restaurants at home). The food was an experience in itself. Their place is off the beaten path a bit but very close to a ton of great hiking and activities. If you don’t have a car their son in law David is available to guide/transport you to adventures. A+ environment, conversation and overall experience. Will absolutely be returning!

A narrow mountain road takes you to the "hidden valley" in which Crescent Moon Cabins resides. The ride is rough, but a travel into paradise is not supposed to be easy.
A fresh arrangement of local flowers greets you as you enter the airy and inviting cabins (there are 4). The lodging is elegant in its simplicity. Two comfortable beds and a hammock on the balcony provide plenty of places to rest after your travels. Fragrant handmade soap is provided for your use in the clean and functional bathroom.
Your balcony provides a breathtaking view of the foliage below and of the azure carribean sea in the distance. At night, the vista becomes one of countless stars, complimented by a symphony performed by the many creatures that live in the forest below and around you.
Meal times at Crescent Moon remind you that wholesome and healthful foods can also be quite delectable. The abundance of fruits and vegetables, organically grown all around you, provide chef Ron with a palate of flavors that are always fresh. The goats and chickens provide Jean with the ingredients to make fresh bread every day. Seafood afficionados will delight in the variety of fresh fish that the sea below provides. Julius' farm, further down into the valley, grows the beans that Ron will roast and grind to serve you fresh coffee every morning.
While one could be quite content resting on their balcony and dining the day away, most will wish to venture out. For those people, Tiana is a willing and patient guide. Eager to share the beauty of the island that she calls home, she guides you through the forest to spectacular waterfalls. On your return, a spring water-filled hot tub awaits to soothe your aching muscles.
A trip to Crescent Moon reminds you how joyful life is when you escape the distractions of the outside world. Those seeking tranquility and those seeking adventure will be equally delighted by a stay at Crescent Moon.

Crescent Moon Cabins are tucked into the side of a mountain, down a long, rutted driveway that is well worth the drive. While the entire island is "otherworldly" in terms of being undeveloped (and hopefully stays that way!), Crescent Moon is owned by a nature-respecting, sustainable-living family. We had planned this trip last year and due to a series of events, only my younger son and I ended up being able to come... we'll all make it next time! The cabins and family (Ron, Jean, Tiana and David) all had their specialties in terms of hosting. Ron is a skilled chef, cooking local fare to perfection; Jean tends to the prolific greenhouse (I found her there in the mornings and glummed onto her growing knowledge); Tiana handled all of my pre-trip Q&As (of which there were many) and helped quite a bit with details during our stay; and David (native to the island) was our guide one day when we ventured farther into the mountains than I wanted to do alone with a 13 yr old. A moment about David... even if you are a seasoned hiker, I would highly recommend having him guide you one day. He was a delight - he knows the island intimately, all it's history and wildlife. I could have asked questions and listened to his stories for days. And he has a sixth sense about him, which seemed would be important when guiding on the more rigorous hikes. My son and I would have made it in and out fine, but we were more immersed in the island on the day we hiked with him. All-in-all, the talents of each of our hosts was a perfect combination of meeting needs and interests. The cabins: they couldn't be more charming. They are comfortable and clean. If you are prissy, you won't even make it down the access road, so those who arrive are most likely prepared for "woodsy". But the cabins cannot really be described as rustic, because they are so beautiful, amidst the most beautiful, lush landscape on the island. The views are amazing and the gardens on-site are a botanists dream. Huge, fragrant something or others were right outside the cabins, birds were everywhere, each species seemed to have its favorite plant available to it. Then there's the stonework... pathways and little patio nooks; very sweet. I was so happy to support the eco-tourism of Crescent Moon. Many islanders that we met spoke of wanting more development on the island, which in my mind would make Dominica like any other resort-infested mecca in the Caribbean. I hope that the people of this treasure nature hold-out can find sustainable, rewarding means of living without selling themselves out. Thank you to Ron and his family for setting the example of how we can support the economy of this beautiful island without ruining it.

Just returned from the most amazing trip to Dominica and Cresent Moon Cabins. This is the first time I have posted a report on trip advisor, my husband and I spent 8 nights at Cresent Moon, and we would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend it to anyone. Ron, Jean, Tiana and David in my opinion are what make Dominica the friendliest Island we have been to. We booked our trip based on diving and hiking, Tiana was so helpful to organize, book and suggest things to see and do along with great directions, and believe me you need good directions as sometimes the signs to the spots go missing. The best part of Cresent Moon was the ability to talk with other people from all over the world in a setting that is so much like home. We are a couple that works together 24/7 in retail and most times just like to do our own thing, and here you can sit and talk if you want or if you want to be left alone it seems they can read your mind. The food was amazing and we miss it already, Diving was not very good, so I would not come back for that, but the Whale Tour was great and one couple did the Canyoning and said it was amazing. We have a bucket list of places, but if we ever won the lottery we would definitely go back and stay at Cresent Moon, just for the amazing views, service, food and the company of Ron, Jean, David and Tiana. Although we did not get a chance to see much of David, as he was busy taking people on tours, we did get a chance to chat on the way to the cabins from the airport. Thank you for making our 25th anniversary memorable. Jeff and Debbie P.S if anyone has questions please don't hesitate to ask us, but just email Tiana and she will honestly answer everything for you. Must Do’s Rent a car If coming in at night have David pick you up And have Island car rentals bring a car the next day, they were fantastic. Spanny falls Whale tour Canyoning

A visit to Crescent Moon Cabins is mandatory to Continentals as well as city islanders that want to learn the essentials of living in a tropical island. Ron, Jean and Tiana have mastered island living and are willing to share it with guests staying at the cabins.
The cabins are simple, confortable and relaxing. Each has a balcony and hammock with view to the garden were most of the food served is grown. Here you can enjoy the sunrise while your host is in the garden picking up the fruits and vegetables that will be used shortly on your breakfast and meals each day.
Looking forward to another visit with our child to show him the animals and all the small natural wonders that abound in this place.

The level of rusticity, and level of service provided are way out of line with the price of accomodation. The food was overpriced as well. The room was full of dog hairs, the toilet seat was broken and slid hither and yon. The plunge pool and hot pool were both dirty, without fresh clean water running through. Would you get into someone elses used bathtub water? My wife became sick with allergies from jungle and sewer smells after one night and we were forced to cancel the second night for health reasons. The proprietors still charged us for the second night. We felt like they just wanted our money and didn't care otherwise. Dominica is fabulous, all other accomodations were great We will return to Dominica, but never to Crescent Moon.

It is unfortunate that the disatified guests at no time expressed their feeling of discomfort to us during their brief stay. We are very approachable and accomodating hosts according to every other review. There would never have been a cancellation charge had we been made aware of their particular experience.

We arrived at Crescent Moon after a long day of travel to be greeted by hospitality, wonderful meals, and amazing surroundings. Ron, Jean, and Tiana are fine hosts, and our accomodations provided for a much-needed retreat, whether at the end of a day of exploration, or just a place to spend the day reading and relaxing. Even rainy days (and nights) were a delight! We plan to come again to this very special place.

We stayed at Crescent Moon for four nights and were completely satisfied with our experience. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a tranquil, friendly setting in the heart of rustic Dominica. It is exactly what their web site offers. If you are looking for luxury and impersonal "service" go elsewhere. The food was great and the hosts were exceptional. We felt completely comfortable and at home. We would go back in a minute and plan to as soon as possible.

Crescent Moon is the best place I have ever stayed. My wife and I just returned from our 2nd visit to Dominica and this time we stayed in the north, the south, and in the rainforest at Crescent Moon. It was the most beautiful place to stay. Their homegrown food is the freshest I have ever eaten. Their cooking is the best this vegetarian has ever eaten. Their surroundings and their friends are amongst the best on the island. I can not wait to go back and listen to the frogs, lizards, bats, birds, insects... and to hike the beautiful surroundings again soon. Its worth every dime and then some! I already miss Jean, Ron, and Tiana so much. If I do not go back until another 5 years have gone by I will probably go nuts! Ron's coffee takes about 2 weeks to withdraw from and his wife and daughter are beautiful people and wonderful hosts. Please go there and support them, but please spend more time right around their property than we did. We were too busy with plans to take it all in. The only drawback, though its fun too, is the road is a scare the first time down it. But then you are glad for it because you won't want other people to randomly find 'your' paradise! Enjoy it if you are cool enough to deserve Crescent Moon!!
