We had an amazing time here. We stayed the first night at Days Inn on Jekyll Island. The next day we met our son and his wife at M-star ...we were shocked to find the same exact furnishings at M-star that we had at Days Inn. The only difference was M-star had BRAND NEW flat screens and was 75% less. It is a very cute boutique-y retro hotel! The staff at Days Inn were professional but the staff at M-star were professional and FRIENDLY! They were very helpful and accommodating. The hotel itself is within minutes of Jekyll so it's convenient to all the islands. Great time ... great experience! We checked out of Days Inn and finished our family vacation there! It allowed us to pay for all three of our children's rooms too with what we saved! We were every bit as comfortable there, as we were at Days Inn...so if your needing to save some money like most of us these days M-Star is the place! Thx Cilfton and Ester...we can't wait to come back next year and see the new renovations on the expansion!! Hopefully our other children will be able to come as well especially since we know we can afford it in comfort and style!!!

We booked this hotel because they are pet friendly. We travel with the cat. We also seek motels that have laminate floors, as opposed to carpet because we travel with a litter tray, and the laminate floors are easier to sweep clean. This motel smelled more like an old folks home and then a motel. Clearly, it had been sanitized, but not in a way that was appealing. The bed was fairly new, but not made professionally. The bedroom was fine, but the bathroom was almost uninhabitable. The toilet was more for a child than an adult. Extremely, extremely tiny. I took a sponge bath rather than getting into the shower. The entire bathroom just seemed awful and gross. Truthfully, I did not read all of the reviews until after I had booked our reservation. The reservation was not cancelable because we had made it on the same day, but I would encourage you to read all the reviews before you make your reservation. I would have been wise to book a different pet friendly motel. We have stayed it at other places, and have had far more pleasant experiences.

Yes, it is clean, has been repainted, and is pretty well maintained.....BUT, don't expect a hotel with access to your room off an inside hallway. The personnel at the desk were polite and the bed was good. The lamp attached to the wall was designed to be between two beds. We selected a king bed, so it was situated between the lamp and the bathroom wall, with no light on the other side, and the other side was tight to the bathroom wall. From some of the reviews, I thought this was a hidden gem, and we were signing up for a great deal. Nope. PROS: Nice people, clean, new Heat-A/C wall unit, flat screen TV, fresh paint. CONS: Door opens to the parking lot, fast moving bug on night stand that I couldn't catch, old bathroom fixtures. It is a decent $50 - $60 motel, and nothing more.

I booked a room at this place probably about half hour before got there and received a confirmation they took all my credit card information when i got there first i am handicapped and the lady at the front stared at me struggling with the door got in lobby like a steam bath should have been my first clue. The lady looked at me like I had two heads and proceeded to show me a sign on the window that they were booked. I said I have a reservation and showed her my emailed confirmation and she said she got the paper email about my reservation and showed it to me it had all my crefit card numbers and all my perso al infirmation address etc so I said i wanted that and i also want a cancellation on my card. She said she could not give it to me i said i want it and you cannot charge me i was polite until this point and she said this does not have your personal information i said to her look here is my card number and my name those numbers match. I said i wanted to speak to a manager sweating and scared as i said i am disabled and there was nothing for me to sit on or hold on to. This man came out and said it wasnt being charged to my card but refused to give me the slip. I proceeded to call my credit card company and this man asked me to leave. I asked him for a copy of the sheet and for him to mark on it that I wasnt being charged. He did give me that. As I struggled back to my car still having to open the heavy door myself i was still calling my credit card company to cancel my card and then call all the companies i have all my autodebits on which took me around an hour sitting in their parking lot. What a nightmare. Not an apology or offer to find this old cripple another room at a local hotel. Take this place off your recommedations.

Very nicely managed, and very clean. But a lack of furniture and awful TV reception, many channels but all grainy makes me give the motel a 3 instead of 4 stars. A good value for a simple night's sleep.

As in previous reviews, this motel has the basics. I noted that the toiletries were decent. The mattress, linens and duvet were newer and comfortable. They had K cups to make your own fresh coffee in the lobby. Cliff and Esther were friendly and concerned about their guests. There were several security cameras around the buildings and we did feel secure knowing that they keep a close eye on the place. With the surrounding restaurants, the parking area was well lit.

We selected the M-Star based on prior reviews. Although somewhat shabbily furnished, we gave it a good rating because it has an excellent location, the bed was great, and the cost could not be beat. The folks that worked there are awesome--so friendly and accommodating. There was no continental breakfast as advertised, just coffee/tea. However, there is a Waffle House next door. If price is important, as it was for us, this place is for you.

I selected this hotel because I thought I would be close to Jekyll Island. I've never visited Brunswick as an adult, so I was unsure about locations and venues. The price was decent and I thought my stay would be a relaxing one. This MOTEL was a true MOTEL in every sense of the word. There are only maybe 15 operational rooms and as we pulled up to our door, there were people hanging out as if they lived on the property. When we got in and surveyed the room, we noticed several things. One, there was no carpet on the floor. Two, there was sand in the sink. Three, there was sand in the tub. The back of the bathroom door had some sort of rust stains on it and didn't close completely. There was no iron or ironing board available for our use inside the room. The next morning, we were rudely awakened by the sound of a verbal altercation which was happening right outside of our room at noises so loud that the people across the street could have heard it. When I addressed this issue to the desk attendant the next day, she pretended she didn't speak English. I then spoke to the proprietor of the motel and he said "our registration desk is open and manned 24 hours". If that was the case, why didn't anyone come and tell the people arguing in front of our door to get off the property? Why did I have to go to the office to request an iron and ironing board when that should be standard in every room. No one wants to be inconvenienced by getting out of the shower, throwing something decent on, and run to the office to "borrow" the iron and ironing board. I wouldn't recommend this MOTEL to anyone.

The M-Star is a really good place based on the price. If I only consider price and the staff it is get a 4, easily! We stayed here on the way to Florida with our dog for around $65 TOTAL on Memorial Day weekend. We didn't arrive until around 9 p.m. and were so ready to be there. The front desk folks were amazingly friendly and cheery. I think all 3 folks that were there were employees or owners. The fellow absolutely had me in stitches. Granted, that is not a terribly hard thing to do at this time in my life. The room was very basic, but had a microwave, mini-fridge and coffee maker. This is a true motel. The room open onto the parking lot. If you don't mind things being well used and a little worn around the edges then don't pass up the M-Star. Do no expect luxury soaps, robes or other "luxuries". I certainly don't need that on a 1 night stay, or more, really. BTW, it was sold out when we were there.

Good hotel for a decent price. We got a last minute deal and the money worth it. Pros: 1. Location, It is in the prime location and surrounded by favorite restaurants. 2. Good & Friendly people. 3. Excellent WiFi. Only thing which annoyed us is the bad odor in the water. Hope they will improve it. This will be our first choice if we visit brunswick in future!
