My sister and I ate lunch at The Smith House and it was fantastic. Such a nice change instead of junk food. We had our own table and were served delicious fried chicken, ham, fried corn, real mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, collard greens, okra, strawberry shortcake, etc. The servers are very polite and attentive. Highly recommend - don't go to Dahlonega without stopping here for lunch!
We had a wonderful visit to The Smith House! The owners were very welcoming and gave us some great tips for what to do in town. We stayed in a 4th floor room which was very clean, comfortable and quiet. The decor is light, airy, rustic and very homey! We were walking distance to everything in town. Loved that there was a Starbucks in walking distance as well. Took a walk in the morning and brought coffee back to sip while rocking on the porch in the beautiful crisp morning air. We will definitely be back for a visit and have already recommended to friends!
Came in for the weekend to meet up with son and his family who were there for a "destination wedding". The staff were all friendly and helpful. The House is actually rooms in several buildings. Our room was clean and fairly new. One oddity was that the cable TV service in the room only offered access to Fox and Newsmax. None of the Big 3 channels. The restaurant has inconvenient hours....not open for breakfast and closes by 7 pm. The food was served family style and was bountiful....way too much. It was also terrible. The fried chicken they are proud of was average. Everything else was cooked to near tasteless. The best thing about the House is that it is within half a block of downtown Dahlonega.
We stayed here on NYE. We had a room in the ‘Carriage House’. It was really clean. The downside was the mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable and the heat/air wouldn’t let the room get cool. Other than that, the location is great and close to the square.
Our girls getaway adventure led us to Dahlonega, GA where we stayed overnight at The Smith House. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite that was right in the middle of town. The patio rocking chairs were a nice treat and easy way to people watch that afternoon once we arrived. We also had a chance to view the local storefronts and restaurants right from the comfort of our patio. Even though our room was right in the middle of town in the square there was not a lot of noise and distractions to keep us awake. We intended for this quick getaway to be restful and relaxing and we were able to get that while staying at The Smith House. There was plenty of room, access to a small kitchen and living room area as well as the patio. I would recommend a stay at The Smith House. The staff was friendly, helpful and funny too. The only negative was the upkeep of the bathroom. It was a bit dated and worn from repeated use over the years but a quick deep clean and update would definitely improve the overall condition.…
