Stayed here with the Mrs for a night a night out in Holmfirth. The hotel is great. We got a deal which worked out at £58 for the night including breakfast which was amazing. The staff were brilliant. Very friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. The room was fairly standard but for...

I seldom write really terrible reviews - and I've written a quite a few fair one's - however, I will make an exception for this event (which was a family get-together for nearly 20 people). If you're thinking of going to the Durker Roods - don't. Almost without exception, every aspect of this Lunch (@ £30 pp) was dreadful.

One of the starters - the souffle was the worst I have ever tried, burnt outside and tasteless inside; one of the main courses was poor - too much bland risotto not enough topping. The fish was superb and my creme brulee was stunning though there was only half an inch of it. So they are easily capable they are...

We originally booked our wedding in May 16 and were not informed that the hotel had already been sold. We were initially worried about this but did not need to be, the new wedding coordinator Chrissy was fantastic. Her advice and support were invaluable and she made the whole wedding planning enjoyable and worry free. There were a few problems...

Not at all a pleasant experience. Clearly the young staff are willing but need further service training. A large group meal where food choices were not as ordered and largely tasteless fare. Cannot recommend.

We knew we would not be arriving until after midnight on Boxing Day/27th but were delighted to find the hotel doors open and the Night Porter sitting at Reception ready to check us in. He did this quickly and efficiently and then carried our case for us to our room. This was slightly smaller than on previous visits, but perfectly...

We pre-booked a new years day family afternoon meal (16 of us) and to be honest the experience pretty much from the start was sub standard. The slightly odd feeling of the woman behind the bar telling two of us just how smashed she'd been after finishing her shift on new years eve and that it was a miracle she'd...

For £65 per head I expected the food to be at least warm. In fact most of it was cold and dried up. The soup was Luke warm and tasted nothing like we'd ordered. The spoons to eat the sorbet between courses were too big to scoop anything out of, I'd ordered lamb for the main course, but would of...

Stayed over the Christmas period with my wife, as we were visiting family in our native Yorkshire. Over the years the hotel has become a little tired, so the renovations are long overdue. That said our room was ok. The staff however were fantastic, extremely personable and interested in their guests. Christmas morning was lovely with everyone being greeted with...

We recently visited the hotel for a wedding, the venue was fantastic and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. The wedding was perfect, the room looked amazing and the food for the wedding breakfast couldn't be faulted, very good. We also stayed over at the hotel and our family room was actually very nice, a good sized room...
