We had an early appointment at a nearby hospital so we decided to spend the night here. Due to a road accident we were diverted from our route. Upon calling the hotel, we were greeted by a friendly voice who then was very patient with us until we were back on track and found our way to check in. We had easy access to internet and was able to contact a local restaurant for delivery. Beds were extremely comfortable as were the pillows. Cannot review breakfast for we were not able to have any food or drink before tests but other guests were positive in their comments.
We were not intending on staying in Jasper, GA, but our new vehicle had a transmission problem that left us stranded there 2 days before Christmas. We were so happy that Microtel Inn & Suites had room to put us up. My husband drove our SUV to the dealership after hours and ended up having to walk back to the hotel in the dark as there was no Lyft or Uber available. We were notified upon check-in that check-out would be at 11 am. At breakfast the next morning a really nice staff member wished us Merry Christmas and began asking a few questions that led to us explaining our situation to her. I should mention, we found out that our vehicle was under recall, so there was an added layer of drama to getting it fixed so we could get home for Christmas. This wonderful staff member said she would gladly drive my husband to the dealership once our SUV was ready. We were later to find out that she is the new manager, Wende Mau. About half an hour before check-out we went down to the front desk to explain that the dealership still didn't know if they would be able to have our vehicle ready that day and that we had tried to rent a car, but none were available. We were going to ask if it would be ok if we vacated the room and waited in the lobby, but before we could ask Wende told us not to worry, we could just wait in our room. We were stunned and so very grateful. At 1 pm we knew that we could get our vehicle that day, but had no idea what time it would be done. So, we went back to the front desk to see if they needed to go ahead and vacate so they could clean it. Again, Wende told us not to worry about. She said it was Christmas and we were free to wait in our until our SUV was done. Don't give it another thought. The beds were more comfortable than the Hilton family hotels we had been staying at on our trip. However, the hospitality is what totally blew us away. Wende and her staff took a lot of the pressure out of a really stressful situation. I can't recommend her hotel enough. They make you feel at home. The world would be much better with more people like the staff at Microtel Inn & Suites.…
Came up to North Georgia solo to hike and drive country roads. This hotel is centrally located to do just that. It sits back off the highway on top of a hill with spectacular views in every direction. It is quiet and safe and uber-clean. All employees super friendly and efficient. After a long driver to Jasper, I just didn't have the energy to follow the one page instructions for a connection. Rest took priority.
Some of the recent reviews had me worried, but we stayed here for two nights and had a very nice experience! The staff were friendly, our room was very clean, and the lobby and hallways were clean. No complaints whatsoever. Great value!
My friend and I made reservations two weeks prior to staying as this “hotel”. I guess we should have sent our photographs to the hotel staff to make sure to give them a heads up that my friend is African American. Hmmm...I didn’t realize this would be an issue. When we arrived the front desk clerk ignored my friend and although she is the one who made the reservation it was quickly switched over to my photo Id and my card. For what reason?... you tell me! Our trip was to include a drive to Blue Ridge, go apple picking or at least visit an orchard and return to Jasper to spend our first night of a long weekend away including two other stops one in Ellijay and one in Kennesaw before returning home. We purchased a bottle of wine from one of the wineries while visiting Blue Ridge so we decided, heck we’re on vacation let’s cut loose. So we shared the bottle, ordered our food from Johnny’s (lovely pizzeria) and we were both asleep by 8:45PM or so. My friend smokes cigarettes and is on quite a different sleep schedule (due to her job) than I am so she woke up because it wasn’t part of her normal sleep pattern to be asleep yet. So she was back and forth from around 10:30 until around 12:30 outside smoking. Now we didn’t read anywhere that this was against hotel policy or anything about it anywhere. She does this anytime we take a trip and not one location has ever had a problem with it. At 10:30 she woke me up tell let me know that she was locked out of the room because the key card code didn’t work; not only the room but the entire hotel. Now remember the front desk clerk only took my id...refused hers so they continued to treat her like she was a criminal. She seemed so flustered by the time she finally made it into the room. She was clearly mistreated and discriminated against. I even received a phone call from downstairs around 12:30 in which it was stated that they “we are sending her up to the room” and “she reeks of alcohol” (we had two glasses of wine each) “don’t let her leave again or they were calling the cops.” I decided then and there we were done with this hotel and I fully intend to send this complaint all the way up the chain. I made the decision to leave this HELL around 1:10 am in the rain and decided leave the entire vacation behind us. This was clearly a form of blatant discrimination. When we were leaving there was Caucasian women getting on the elevator with us to do the exact same; go outside and smoke. I guess if you’re white and stay at the Microtel by Wyndham in Jasper, GA you are allowed to go outside to smoke and come back and not be accused of anything. Hmmm... It was only when we were leaving though that I fully realized that I made the right decision. My friend approached the lobby first and when I saw the way the front desk clerk looked at her (like oh I got you now...911...I gave you a warning) I was disgusted and felt really badly that there was still this much discrimination going on in the world. I slapped those keys on the desk and my kind hearted friend was still trying to clear her good name to tell them she wasn’t a threat but I just told her to come on and forget about them.…
