What a relief to stay at a place like this, after all those so called boutique hotels, with their space age bathrooms, dimmers etc. A bit of a trip down memory lane it was, with the antique furniture, proper door handles and "on/off" switches that did not require a degree in astrophysics to operate! Retrofreaks of the world, unite to...

Never thought of The Old Parsonage as retro but there ya go. Great review we loved it. Though it made us think that we should get out more often. Thanks again. Brian

We had a wonderful stay in the Red Room. It was huge and very comfortable with a great bathroom. Brian and Charlotte were great hosts and very helpful in directing us to a place for dinner and things to do the next day in the area. The best scrabbled eggs one could want for breakfast as well as a great...

Glad you liked it. I'm a big fan of the scrambled egg too. The location is good which is nearly equidistant for the 3 historic cities of Bath Bristol and Wells. Hope that trip back to Australia was not too taxing. Look forward to seeing you again on your next trip. All the best. Brian

After much internet searching I found The Parsonage - the sort of place I always long to discover, somewhere full of history and beauty that makes an otherwise possibly dull stopover something to remember. Charlotte and Brian are delightful hosts, and although busy with other guests, make time to stop, chat, give you tea (big pot, jug, sugar etc on...

Many thanks for the great review. High praise indeed from a fellow B&Ber in France. Hope all went well with your return trip and look forward to seeing you again with a big pot of tea on arrival and the works for breakfast at an unearthly hour. I will pass on your compliments to The Spice Dunes. Brian

The period house is as fascinating as its owners are welcoming. There is so much to find interest in. We were comfortable in our beautiful room and enjoyed the delicious breakfasts, particularly the home-made marmalade; organic oranges, sourced and hand-picked in Spain. Just one of many delightful attentions to detail which makes this establishment stand out. It proved a good...

Many thanks for the great review and so glad you liked the breakfast with the freshly baked breads and home made marmalade. We certainly enjoyed your company and all of the insights into lime and Historic Buildings. There is so much to see and do around here that hope to see you back again to discover even more. Hope your...

Spent a weekend at The Old Parsonage and had a great time. From the moment we arrived our hosts made sure we enjoyed ourself from tea on arrival to restaurant recommendations. A great location to explore beautiful towns and villages set in spectacular countryside between Bath and Wells. We shall certainly return to this really nice place

Very well located, lovely breakfast and more than anything kind, generous and welcoming hosts. We (myself, my fiancee, her mum and sister) stayed for the night before our wedding and the evening afterwards and nothing was any trouble for the generous couple who ran the B&B. From surprising everyone with a lovely cup of tea after a very long drive...

High praise indeed from a very discerning bride. It's a special day so we should not get in the way, just support you. Hope the rest of the honeymoon went well. Maybe see you on one of your anniversaries. All the best with your new married life together. Brian

This is a very interesting place to stay, not only for the great hospitality of our hosts, but the " loaded" history of the house. Accommodations were comfortable and enjoyable. Breakfast was great and visiting with the property owners was a great treat. You are in a country village, so note some limitation in dining nearby. Was very worth the...

Hi guys, Many thanks for the great review and glad you got back safely. The history of the house is interesting especially when it has the great photos of King George V1 and The Prince of Wales later to become King Edward V111 visiting in 1934 and 37 to add to the provenance. For me the real jewel is the...

Charlotte and Brian were wonderfully welcoming. Brian was a fount of knowledge! About the Parsonage, about Bath, local restaurants, things to do, everything. First, we got there around 4pm. Not a ton of time but Brian suggested just the right amount to visit the Wells Cathedral, a short drive to the medieval city of Wells... This working, 12th century masterpiece...

Well thank you so much for your compliments glad we could be of assistance. I will pass on what you said to The Old Station. Avebury gives you time to take in the stones and allows you to wander among them, much more relaxing than Stonehenge. I presume Lacock was too much. Hope you all got away ok and if...

This is a great base if you are playing golf at Farrington Park Golf & Country Club which is a 5 minute drive from The Old Parsonage. This is a lovely old manor house with very friendly proprietors Charlotte & Brian. The usual warm welcome and lovely pot of tea after my 2.5 hour journey from Dorset was much appreciated....
