I stayed at the Hotel Excelsior for 8 nights during early July 2014. The hotel has many positives and some negatives but if you want to go to Venice but be away from the hustle and bustle of the city on a gorgeous stretch of the Adriatic, this is the hotel for you, but be prepared to spend. Let's begin...

We had a weekend here and enjoyed it very much. The rooms were spacious, well specified and opulent. The facilities were also top notch and included a large swimming pool, excellent gym with modern equipment and a wonderful deck to have a sundowner on. The shuttle boat to and from St. Mark's square was also a real bonus. I'd definitely...

My husband and I and our 2 kids stayed at the Excelsior for 3 nights and had a wonderful, relaxing time. It's a very easy water taxi to San Marco Square, so we spent 2 mornings sightseeing and the rest of the time relaxing at the pool. Perfect mix. The hotel is lovely and our room was perfect. A very...

We stayed at Hotel Excelsior from Monday 23rd June to Friday 27th and wanted to say what a great hotel this is. We booked with Secret Escapes and having read a few poor reviews before we went were a little worried, we were therefore very pleasantly surprised. Staff were friendly. We had a deluxe double room which was beautiful and...

I first came to the excelsior age 10 as 1 of 7 children to swim. It was fun. Now 57 years later travel my wife rented a terrific apartment on the Grande Canal for a week. I wrote to the hotel before leaving San Francisco to see if we could be guests for the day. They confirmed everything guest services...

We were surprised to read some of the negative comments posted about this hotel. We stayed from 19th-24th June and had a very enjoyable stay. After having visited Venice may times, we decided to try staying on the Lido as we wanted to try a beach/city combination - we were not disappointed with our decision as it offered the best...

Certainly not a 5 star hotel - room not ready, not all our luggage was delivered to our room and the mirrored wardrobe door was cracked leaving it splintered and a danger. Man at front desk couldn't care less and guest relations lady unable to come up with any appropriate solution. Arranged a meeting with the manager who turned up...

We stayed here for one night before leaving on a cruise. This hotel was very nice, there wasn't much close by but the hotel does offer a free shuttle to San Marco which was helpful. The pool area is beautiful and the service at the pool was great. As soon as I walked up I was asked how many and...

Can only agree with previous reviewers – a mixed bag describes it perfectly. I have stayed in much better and I have stayed in much worse Hotels. For a 5 star Hotel it remarkably lacking in facilities. No Spa facilities (Hot Tub, Sauna Jacuzzi), No Trouser Press, Iron & Ironing Board, Coffee / Tea tray in Room, Bath Gel, Bath...

In contrast to some of the previous reviews we found the staff friendly and helpful, if a little low in numbers. This is a huge hotel , and it could be exceptional, but its not. The position is great , the free water taxi brilliant , but this is Cipriani prices. Weak cocktails at 16 euros , pastas at 20...
