Having had holidays in April and October cancelled, we decided to fit in a quick week away in August. We booked a package with Jet2 flying from Leeds Bradford arriving at Camari Garden late on Sunday evening. George immediately rushed to greet us and carried our cases up the steps to reception. We had apartment 107 with a shared terrace/balcony at the top of the site accessed by a slope, as I'd asked for a room with not too many steps if possible. The shower room had a good sized quadrant shower cubicle, ideal for larger ladies like myself :)

It felt very safe at Camari Garden as all the staff were wearing masks, tables were sanitised as soon as people left them, sanitiser was available near reception, sunbeds, tables etc were distanced. We ate here several times as well as being presented with mezes when we ordered drinks, after returning one evening from Rethymnon, when we'd already had a meal. I can recommend the moussaka, prawn saganaki, lamb chops but especially the lamb in the oven, a "special" on 15th August.

We got taxis a couple of times into Rethymnon, our favourite town on Crete, but we didn't make it up to the village, so we've decided to rectify that by coming back at the end of August for 2 weeks.

What sets Camari Garden apart is the wonderful family that run it, so friendly and welcoming, providing a personal service, at the same time so professional and efficient. It was our first stay here but other guests we spoke to had been returning many times. I can understand why.

We have recently returned from visiting Crete and a stay in this great family run apartment complex from the UK. Crete was on the UK's amber list, so people might be unsure about visiting at this time. All I can say is please don't let this put you off. The hotel is fully compliant with the local requirements and we felt much safer there than we do in England!
The complex is run by a friendly and helpful family that want you to have the best time that you can. The rooms are very clean including being steam cleaned between visitors. Fresh changes of bedding and towels occur every few days from the same cleaners . There is a restaurant/bar on site that offers a good choice of meals and drinks from their menu, but they will also try and accommodate any other dietary needs. The food is of a high standard and very reasonably priced (a moussaka costs about 6 euros. There are 2 swimming pools on site with plenty of sun beds that ensures social distancing can still take place. They will make the necessary appointments locally for you to get the anti-gen test that the UK required us to have before flying home. These cost 20 euros including the necessary certificate. There are some lovely tavernas to visit in the nearby village and easy access to transport options to get into the nearby town if you haven't hired a car. I'm sure you won't regret visiting this little piece of heaven.

We visited for 10 days as a family of four in August. Booked last minute and were not quite sure what to expect due to the current circumstances. We needn’t have worried, the hotel is run by a lovely family who gave us a wonderful Greek welcome nothing was too much trouble. We had a lovely apartment with a shady terrace which was a welcome break from the heat. The food in the restaurant was outstanding and so reasonable in fact we didn’t have a bad meal the whole holiday. The place was spotless and staff were constantly disinfecting loungers and tables once vacated, we felt really safe there. There are 3 restaurants in the village and a taverna on the beach we tried them all and thoroughly enjoyed. You can get a taxi to Rethymnon for 10 euro which was lovely and a lot busier but more pricey. The beach is a couple of minutes down the hill it’s just a little cove but it’s idyllic, the sea was bath temperature the children enjoyed snorkeling there. A few people we spoke to go back every year and it’s easy to see why, we didn’t want to leave! Thank you so much for a much needed break I hope we will visit again one day.

Where to start? A huge thank you to all the beautiful hard-working family at Camari, Angela, George, nick and Fotini to mention just a few you make this place the amazing complex it is. Apartments have everything you need to enjoy your holiday including ice cold air conditioning which was much needed during the 40 degree temperatures, basic kitchen equipment including a two ring hob and sandwich/panini toaster, fridge and kettle. The rooms are spotless the cleaning and maintenance staff work so hard, we had our room cleaned every day other than Sunday. Two pool areas, we only ever used the top pool near the bar and reception as the bottom pool was usually more busy, again the area is nice and clean and really well maintained. We ate at the restaurant numerous times food is gorgeous, reasonably priced and full of flavour (try the pita gyros) and moussaka 😋 we had breakfast only one morning and it was beautiful, self service hot and continental breakfast which was 9€ and you can pay at the time you order you don't need to book. The staff cannot do enough for you, literally there is no request they won't try and help with as Fotini said "anything is possible at Camari" Location is on quite a steep hill there is a well stocked supermarket on site, down the road is a rocky beach which is great for snorkelling and a couple of great restaurants. Up the hill is genari village where you'll find a chemist a bakery, couple of supermarkets, restaurants and cafes it's about a 15 minute walk up the steep winding hill. You can buy ticket for bus at the shop for 1.6 euros which will take you into Rethmyno or a cab is about 13 euros. We hired a car and found this really useful as meant we could explore further afield.
This was our first time visiting camari but it's testament to the family and hotel that people keep visiting year after (one guest had visited 19 times) Whether this is your first time or 21st time you're sure to receive a warm welcome.
All in all if you're wanting to use camari as a base from which to explore the chania area or just wanting to relax by the pool or in the bar you won't be disappointed. We've already booked again for next summer!

We stated at Camari Gardens last week. The staff are among the friendliest I gave ever come across. It's a family run business and they really seem to care about the guests, which really made it for me.

The room facilities were basic but that was fine. It was an apartment with two rooms, one had a small dining area, basic kitchenette and two beds that doubled up as sofas and the other had twin beds and led to a small balcony.

There are two pools and a nice restaurant/bar serving snacks, drinks and lovely meals. Dinner and drinks for 3 of us were generally around €40. Next door is a mini market where you can get food, drinks, souvenirs and beach/pool items.

The complex is located near the village of Gerani, which is a genuine authentic village with very little tourism. It has a few tavernas and bars. To get to the village its a 10 minute walk uphill on some slightly ropey roads with no pavement but its definitely doable if you're fully mobile. Going downhill you can find the local beach. It's a small pebble beach but nice enough. Again, slightly dodgy roads and no pavement.

The nearest town is Rethymno which is just beautiful. I believe you can get the bus but we just used cabs which were around €10 each way for a 10 minute trip. Rethymno has a beautiful harbour area, lots of shops, bars and restaurants and an incredible venetian Fort to visit.

When we needed tests to come home, the hotel booked them for us at the local pharmacy (up the hill in the village). The pharmacist was quick and efficient and the tests were only €24 per person.

The best thing about Camari Gardens is the wonderful staff. The location would be a little remote for some but I enjoyed the peace!

After reading the great reviews I booked this place for a fortnite for me and my family, and it was honestly the best holiday we've ever had.

Camari Garden is run entirely by family and as soon as you arrive you feel part of their family. Nothing is too much trouble for any of them. The food prepared at the hotel is great and really reasonably priced (if you get offered a special prepared by Angela make sure you have it, she is an amazing cook)

We were here during the Covid panic, if you are half considering going dont hesitate. The staff are cleaning 24 hours a day to ensure that everyone is safe.

I can't write a review worthy of this place. All I can say is we will be back soon. If you are considering it, book it! You will not be disappointed. See you soon Nico, George, Angela, Themis and family xxxx

We have been visiting Camari Gardens for a number of years. This lovely family run hotel provides a great service, food and location are all excellent, delivered with care by the family and staff. Lots of people have been worried about travelling due to covid 19, but you can book here with confidence. All social distancing measures are in place with cleaning routines and safety measures to protect the wellbeing of all guests and staff. Do not hesitate as you will not be disappointed

It was our first time staying in Camari Gardens and definitely not the last!!! All the staff made us feel so welcome, everyone was lovely. Stayed in one bedroom apt. The place was very spacious and spotlessly clean equipped with the fridge ,small cooker and some basic utensils. We had a lovely view of the sea from our balcony. There was two pools and a small, quiet and vey nice beach with a taverna just 10 min walk from hotel. The food at the hotel was amazing and atmosphere in the restaurant and bar was always friendly. The village up the road was very picturesque with plenty choices of places to eat. There was two supermarkets in the village and a pharmacy. Rhetymno town is just about 15 min away in a taxi (€12) and there's a local bus just outside hotel few times a day. We had such a great and relaxing time couldn't wish for more. Although I rarely travel twice to the same hotel we surely will come back!!!

We had a really lovely stay at camari gardens. The hotel is family run and the staff really care about their guests. All of the staff work hard and are extremely welcoming and friendly. The rooms and surrounding areas were cleaned daily and the hotel is exceptionally clean and well maintained. There are two pools which have adequate sun loungers around them. The views are fabulous and the restaurant serves food all day which again was really nice and had a nice variety. We enjoyed all of the food here. We spent a few days around the pool and eating in the restaurant and it really was a fabulous spot to relax and enjoy our time here.

The hotel is in a quiet location with a little beach at the bottom of the hill with a restaurant there and a fantastic restaurant at the top of the hill in Gerani village - ‘Stavas’ all within walking distance. Taxis further afield to the beach of Episkopi (long sandy beach) and to the marina of Rethymo are available and Angela kindly booked these for us and asked the taxi to collect us from the beach at a certain time to bring us back. There are plenty of taxis in rethymo itself so no need to request a pick up. The whole set up was really easy and we had a wonderful time to relax in the hotel and go out and enjoy what the area has to offer.
Thank you for a wonderful holiday we literally have no complaints at all and had such a fabulous time. The family really do make this hotel a wonderful place, Thank you again.

The Draper Family.

Wow what can I say, the reviews are awesome for a reason! I arrived a little anxious travelling as a solo guest but needn't have worried one bit. From start to finish I was made to feel like part of the family which made my whole holiday experience one of the best trips I have ever had. The entire family go above and beyond anything I have ever experienced before and a huge thanks to Nico who kept me company whilst sat at the bar always smiling and generous in every way. The magical combination of having such an amazing room with a view, the vibe at the hotel, pool areas, views, food, drinks, value for money etc etc cannot be matched anywhere I have stayed. Everywhere is spotless and the entire family team are always smiling and so so friendly and all work tirelessly to ensure each and every guest is made to feel as welcome and as special as the next. I will definitely be returning next September, this time for 10 days as 8 days was amazing but was definitely not ready to leave. I met many other guests who have been returning here for years, some nearly 30 and I completely understand why. Thanks to you all you made me feel so relaxed and thoroughly looked after and you made my holiday one of my best ever!! Can't wait to see you all next year!!
