It's in the middle of nowhere. If you don't like people, this might be the place to go. If you're against sleeping in the car or need a shower, then come here but otherwise save yourself a few dollars and just camp in the back seat. The term "resort" is stretched beyond a bungee cord holding back a hungry elk.

Sawtelle Mountain Resort was the cheapest place we could find near Yellowstone in July but that was not cheap. The room was small but clean. Spent the next night in the park which was 50% more expensive and no better. Staff was very helpful. My wife does not like stairs, so they changed our room. Will stay there again instead... More

The trees need to be trimmed. It's nice to have trees but maneuvering a large motorhome can be a problem. When leaving my space, I had to make a very sharp right turn and rake the right side of my motorhome on the tree limbs. Sites are dirt, very dusty. They have full hookups, restrooms with showers, indoor heated pool,... More

The rooms are clean but nothing extravagant. Very comfortable with a western feel. For the cost of the rooms it would be nice to have a breakfast bar provided. Convenient enough for those looking to get outside West Yellowstone to access the park. Great location for those fishing the Henry's Fork and Box Canyon.

Booked this campsite for its proximity to Yellowstone. The reviews made the place sound OK. Arrived just before a thunder storm that lashed us with hail. Given all the hotels in West Yellowstone are $300 a night and full had no choice but to camp. Cold miserable evening with the restaurant closed at the local bar we had to cook.... More

We booked this place due to its proximity to Yellowstone, only 25 min to the west entrance, and the low cost. We were expecting something much less than what we got. SMR is wonderful, the quick check in and cert friendly staff. We had a slight issue with the tv in our room. A call to the front desk and... More

We have stayed here a couple of times when visiting my friends. It can fill up particularly in the winter, as a lot of snowmobiling takes place from here. The rooms are basic to say the least. The walls are fairly thin. But it provides a bed to sleep in and is reasonably priced for the family. You will definitely... More
