First of all, Thala is everything it promises in terms of beauty, service, and relaxation. It's completely remote (a ten minute drive from Port Douglas - you feel like you're in the middle of the jungle, on a beach) and the surroundings and resort amenities are beautiful. The Thala private beach is spectacular, and the view from the restaurant is...

We recently stayed here three nights. The bungalows are private and secluded and absolutely relaxing. The staff here are so lovely and accommodating. Its only a quick walk to a very private beach that has deck chairs and a little bar on it as well. The restaurant has amazing views and great food. A great place to stay to get...

We stopped en route to Port Douglas, and had a very delicious lunch, chosen from a very good menu. I had two tapas dishes, and was very happy with the prawns and the son-in-laws egg. Others were happy with their food too, all of which looked fresh, tasty and appealing. Eating among the branches of the forest was superb, with...

Treat yourself to a visit to Thala Lodge. The main lodge, the views and the staff are all wonderful. Even if the budget cannot stretch to staying here, go visit anyway and have a coffee/ tea or sundowner. If you are lucky enough to stay here, you can hide away in your private little rainforest cabins, sit next to one...

Lovely stay - secluded bungalows surrounded by beautiful rainforest. Quiet and peaceful - just what we were looking for on our vacation. The staff was wonderful. Dinner was delicious. Very nice beach! A special place in Port Douglas! We will definitely be back!

Thala does not feel or look like your standard holiday accomodation. Each bungalow is set in beautiful bushland/rainforest and positioned to take full advantage of the surrounds. It felt extremely private, as though there was no one else around. The bungalow was spacious and welcoming. The walk to the beach was pretty and the beach itself was never crowded. There...

We stayed in the eucalyptus bungalow and were extremely happy with our stay! The room was spacious with air con and great balcony! Staff were friendly and were always happy to help us and assist with complimentary valet parking! We would highly recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for a quieter location away from the commercialised tourist areas....

Arriving at Thala Beach Lodge in July this year, tired and dishevelled from our delayed flight from Sydney, it was an absolute delight to be told by the friendly staff that we need not worry about our bags and our car as the former would be brought to our rooms and the latter valet parked! This warm welcome and impeccable...

My daughter and I stayed here in July. It is the best hotel/resort I have ever visited. The tree house style cabins are fun. We enjoyed sitting on our porch in the evening and listening to the birds. The only word to describe the beach is incrediable. We enjoyed the fabulous views of the ocean and hills from the lodge...

Guests and visitors dine amongst birds in the surrounding treetops, whilst enjoying modern Australian cuisine with friendly and attentive service. Granite boulders, waterfalls and overhanging trees create natural swimming pools blending discretely within the environment.
