A lovely B&B by the river, what felt like in the middle of no where, but not far from the Cabot trail. Large, beautiful room, with a sitting area and lovely modern bathroom. Off the beaten path but lovely setting. Really friendly owners who live in the house and run the B&B. Would recommend this place
Stayed at A B&B for 3 nights in July whilst travelling around Cape Breton. An awesome home with wonderful hosts Lydia & Johannes. Wonderful homemade hot breakfast and eggs made to order. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable, washrooms too were very clean. The view from the room was awesome. Enjoyed the beer too. Had great homely conversations with this lovely couple. Will recommend this B&B to friends and family.
This was the perfect place to stay as a rest stop while traveling around Cape Breton! The room was very comfortable and clean. Location is a short drive from many lovely trails. The owners were very thoughtful and attentive. We ended our stay with a delicious breakfast and a beautiful view of the river. Would highly recommend!
I stayed at A B&B bay the River for 3 nights, and it was perfect. Wonderful homemade breakfast in the mornings, and delicious homebrewed beer in the evenings. Quiet and beautiful location, amazing hosts, and comfortable beds. If I am ever in the area again I will, without a doubt, book this place again.
Amazing fishing trip in the area this spring. Just a short drive from some of the best rainbow trout fishing I have ever experienced. My 11 year old is hooked. Wonderful hosts and beautiful accomodations. Even beer brewed on site. We will be back for sure... maybe every spring. Thanks.
One of the best places we’ve stayed at ! We spent three wonderful nights here and loved it. Breakfast was great, and the view to the river is so beautiful! Can’t wait to be back with our family! A wonderful bed and breakfast and owned by great people! Highly recommend
Very tastefully decorated, pristinely clean, 100% comfortable B&B run by a very friendly and competent couple in a beautiful neck of woods close to the Canso Causeway. What else can one ask for? A fantastic breakfast? Well, that also comes with the price. Overall: a wonderful place to stay for a couple of nights, or a whole week.
I was lucky to book this place for a trip to Cape Breton. The room is spacious, super clean. The bed has a great custom made hardwood frame and the mattress is comfortable. The moon shining on the river was fantastic! If there is anything you need that isn't in the room, the hosts will make sure you have it, and are on-site and easy to contact. It is a little off the beaten path - aren't all the best places? It's easy to find, rural and quiet. This is a great jumping off point for Isle Madame, the Bras D'or Lakes, and most locations on the lower half of Cape Breton Island. Not far from the Canso Causeway. But the best part was the warmth and hospitality of Lydia and Johannes. I was travelling on my own, had a disappointing event that wrecked my plans and was upset with myself. Lydia and Johannes couldn't have been kinder and helped me sort out what to do. I will be back!…
We had a restful time at B&B by the River! Lydia and Johannes were wonderful hosts. Our room was very spacious, very clean and modern! The bathroom had a wonderful rainforest showerhead and very clean! The king bed was very comfortable and the river scene from our room was beautiful both in the morning and evening. Johannes prepared a nutritious hot breakfast for us and the coffee was excellent! We were nestled in the forest by a beautiful riverbank. Very good find! Would recommend this spot to anyone wanted to have a retreat in the woods getaway!
When you are sad to leave a place, you know it was special. Nice spacious rooms and a super comfortable bed, only topped by the warm welcome and great hosts Lydia & Johannes who make their home yours as well. Located close to Port Hawkesbury and a good start point to explore the whole island. Cannot wait to visit them again 😊
