Great Service here! The doormen are amazing. They know the city like the back of their hand. They make sure you are going to safe areas and if not advise you how and when to go or other options instead.
The hotel is located in the Chicago loop area but off the busy dyreeets such as State or Michigan. Transportation is nearby. Restaurants are plentiful. The main library is in walking distance. An adequate exercise room is on the premises. There is no pool or lounge area/lobby.
Clean, safe, great location. Staff amazingly friendly and helpful. Hotel older but remodeled with great bedding and towels. Fridge and microwave, free coffee and paper in am. Fitness room with great views. Walk everywhere in the loop and close to bus and el. Near art institute and in printers row district so lots of cute and less expensive neighborhood shops and restaurants
Check in was fine. The staff was polite and helpful. The floor we were on and the floor our relatives were on was like a half floor. That is the elevator took us, in our case, to the 2nd floor but then there was like a half flight of steps to our room's floor. Making it like 2 and 1/2 floors. Our relatives had the same issue on a higher floor. The bellhop took our luggage up. However, we were leaving early so no bellhop on duty plus no luggage carts (they only had one working and it was being used). We had to carry our luggage down the several steps then take the elevator to the first floor, leave the luggage while we went back up to our room for the remainder luggage. I am 70 but thank the good Lord I am in pretty good shape so I just said I needed the exercise. I felt one working cart was not acceptable for a hotel of this price and size. The heating/cooling was difficult to figure out and did not always work as it should. Refrigerator was good. The electrical outlets were misplaced. There were two duplex outlets in the bathroom, two on the wall beside the bed plus a clock with two on the same side of the bed. There were none on the other side of the bed for my CPAP but my wife had plenty of options for her CPAP. I carry an extension cord so I made it work. They need a better desk lamp and a good reading lamp by the nice, comfortable chair. Many hotels are going to the "open" shower which I strongly dislike. It gets the floor wet and makes the shower drafty. There were 3 sets of towels which was GREAT for our one king bed room. This is appreciated. Maid service was GREAT. The bed was comfortable. There were ear plugs beside the bed. We did not use them but some may want to as there can be a lot of street noise. We were facing the street but still did not have any issues with noise. There is a good place to eat next to the hotel; you do not have to go outside. However, it closes at 3 or 4 so evening meals are off site but in Chicago there are plenty of good places to eat not far away so no problem. I personally hate required valet parking but it is what it is in a downtown hotel so I had to suck it up and pay $55 per night plus a tip for parking which I think is a bit high but I don't valet unless required. We would stay there again.…
Very good quality and service. We enjoyed our stay here. Bellman customer service and responsiveness by Greg was spot on. Easy access to Michigan Avenue and Printers Row. Beds were comfortable and views to the Willis Tower were excellent. We would highly recommend this property.
