We've stayed in a wide variety of hotels in downtown Chicago over the past year. While the location was excellent and the room was adequate, we were struck by the higher-than-average price to valet park our vehicle. While the hotel website says it offers "on-site parking," the actual garage is several blocks away and only the valet stand is "on-site."...

Room amenities were all up to date, bed was very comfortable, TV was much nicer than expected, nice showerhead. Location is great - CTA busses and red line are very close, and food options are plentiful in the area. Minor issues: Thermostat didnt work correctly (very warm - my only option was to turn it off). The safe is placed...

For 40 years I worked 2 blocks from Raffaello and am intimate with the neighborhood. Gold Coast/River North has everything you need in Chicago. Shopping, nightlife, dining. There are dozens of hotels in this area. I like the R because it is smaller and a little cheaper. (If that's even possible in Chicago.) They do run specials during slow months....

This hotel was in a great location for our visit to American Girl store for my granddaughters 5th birthday. The staff was nice, the door men were great. It did take a long time to get into our room. THe hotel is old and the elevators are really small and slow. The bathroom is tiny and the toilet rocked on...

Whenever I visit Chicago, the Raffaello has been my go-to hotel. Small hotel; great staff; nice rooms....it's located perfectly below (or above, as it's a short walk from the lake) Michigan Avenue, so the proximity is perfect for practically everything. Food, shopping, theaters, museums....don't overlook it.

At this price point, I would expect all the lights to work in the room (two did not), the carpet was frayed in one spot to the point the web backing was visible, and the bathroom sink was horribly scratched. The heating unit made a very loud hum. We were supposed to get a drink voucher but did not. The...

You can tell this is an "old school" hotel that has been updated and improved. In fact, the signs in the hallway point to where the fire escape was. Staying in Streeterville

Neighbourhood Profile
Streeterville
Streeterville is where visitors head for play at Navy Pier, a pseudo amusement park and development of restaurants, shops, rides, and other activities. You’ll find lots of action and excitement on the docks. Along the pier, you’ll see the statue of the captain for whom Streeterville is named. While you enjoy your fair share of sightseeing at the pier, you can also visit other popular attractions there such as the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Off the pier you’ll find more restaurants from low-cost pubs to high-end establishments. Arts and culture aficionados should be sure not to miss the Museum of Contemporary Art.
