Convenient little hotel in Hyde Park neighborhood. Free parking is a huge bonus compared with the $37 valet parking at nearby Hyatt Place hotel. The room was just so-so (nowhere near as modern or swank as Hyatt Place or the new LaQuinta next door), but it was clean with updated bathrooms and beautiful views of Lake Michigan just across the...

Thanks for writing a review. It's nice to hear that you enjoyed your stay. You mentioned the Lake Shore Cafe. One of the highlights of that restaurant is the Friday night seafood buffet. Lots of University of Chicago folks attend, as much for the live jazz as the food. The wait-staff have seen your kind remarks. Come again!

The property is right off of Lake Shore Dr, directly across from the Lake. Its convenient to downtown and South Chicago. Rooms were a little dated but for the price and location it cant be beat. Request a room in the back away from noise from Lakeshore.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Lake Shore Drive is the first multi-lane highway ever built. And beyond that is the actual lake shore, where walking trails stretch for miles. We're glad you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to serving you again.

It is situated on the Lake front, just out of town, but serviced by a shuttle several times/day from hotel to downtown, to sports venues. The staff was pleasant and went out of their way especially the manager on site. The staff at the desk is ever so helpful and friendly and nothing is too much for them. They also...

Thanks for writing a review. You note, "just out of town." In fact, Hyde Park is part of town, but it feels like a separate village. We don't hear about many guests "braving" winter in the parks, but there is always something going on. We suggest Northerly Island, which isn't an island, but it has a restored prairie, year round...

The beds were smaller than a full sized bed and uncomfortable, Heater was very loud and when someone came in the entrance door it slammed very loud. To top it off, we woke up to our and many other cars had been broken into. The Chicago Police would not come out to investigate or take report, has to call it...

Thanks for writing a review. It is unfortunate that cars were broken into. This is not a frequent occurrence. The Chicago police do NOT respond to such calls. We do not know why. We (this is in our advertising) do not assume responsibility for such an unfortunate event. We apologize for the things you mention re your room. The free...

If possible I would give zero stars. When we checked in we were never told about the free shuttle bus or that we needed vouchers for the breakfast that they offer. When we go into the room there was a dirty coffee cup leftover from when house keeping "cleaned" the room. They thought we were checking out on the 5th...

Thank you for writing a review. The visit you describe is unsettling to say the least. We apologize for your inconveniences. At the heart of your complaint was a lack of communication from our staff. We passed on your remarks to management.

Thank you for writing a review. We passed on your compliments to our staff. Hyde Park is more like a city unto itself, than a Chicago neighborhood. Re the Lake Shore Cafe, check out the Friday seafood buffet (non-seafood items available) and J. J. and the Jazz All Stars. We hope to see you again.

Thanks for writing a review. No doubt about it, Giordano's is the best pie in a town known for its distinctive pizza. Lake Michigan is cold in summer much less now, but you can't beat the scenery. Adventurous guests can hike to the Loop along Chicago's beaches. We look forward to seeing you again.

The price is why I picked this hotel. I like to stay closer to the city or on the north side but we had tickets to a concert and everything in Chicago was very expensive that weekend. Thanks for writing a review. We provide a complimentary shuttle that takes our guests to the museum campus and the Loop. We're glad you enjoyed our restaurant. Had a great stay, place was under construction when we were there but the room was fine and our dog was fine and the price was right. Thanks for writing a review. We don't often get endorsements from dogs, but we'll take it! Actually, the Museum of Science and Industry is just blocks away from the hotel. All other museums are clustered around Chicago's Loop. Say hello to Fido for us. We''' look forward to serving you again.

I booked this hotel because I was attending a course at UChicago. When I first arrived, I realized that the place is essentially a motel. When I first got to my room, I realized that there was a gap between the door and the door frame - my room could be unlocked by slipping a plastic card into the gap!...
