We stayed for three nights. Our deluxe room was nice, but with the sofa bed open for our daughter, it was quite cramped in the room for three people. Nice touches in the room, e.g. biscuits, good filter coffee, but although we had booked for three occupants, there was only two of bathroom toiletries, towels, cups, etc. The staff were...

This is a beautifully located hotel in a beautiful, quiet village. The views are unbelievable. I agree with some of the other reviews. The staff in the pub (who also check you in) are a bit scatty and often incompetent. Some are real characters but greater professionalization seems in order. We were told we could order a newspaper to be...

I do not like leaving poor reviews as I realise it is very bad for the particular business however I am so unhappy with our stay here I feel I have no option. We stayed at the weekend, a Saturday night, the pub is meant to close at 11.00 so one would reasonably expect the place to be empty and...

I made the booking through Booking.com. Very quickly after the booking I received a nice email from the Devonshire asking if I wished to book a table and whether I had any allergies. On arrival, I had a friendly greeting but the staff member had no idea about the breakfast times! On entering the rooms, it is not very clear...

We went for Sunday Lunch with my mum, having looked at the online menu. When we arrived we found that the Sunday menu was two roasts, or a vegetarian dish (risotto). In fact my wife and I had the roast lamb which was excellent, served with a delicious Yorkshire Pud and petty of good fresh veg. My mother had the...

Firstly let me say our bedroom was absolutely gorgeous (Hill top) with a four poster bed and large very clean bathroom. I would recommend that room without hesitation. Now the not so positive - we booked on line with the option of a £28 meal paid for in advance. When we sat for our meal we were told to choose...

Hi, Thank you for your comments. There was a fault on the system meaning that for some reason it wasn't taking into account the food allowance. This has since been rectified. I am sorry for the confusion caused but was pleased to hear that the bill was correct in the end. I also apologise for the food availability issues. We...

My husband and I stayed for just one night last week. We had one of the compact doubles which looked out over the village at the front of the pub. Loverly place with nice comfortable rooms. Nice shower. Really liked it here. Had a Loverly meal in the evening. Worth booking a table. The breakfast was amazing. All the food comes from the local farm shop. Tasted amazing. Quiet area but very pretty. Right near Chatsworth House which has Loverly grounds that you can drive through. Would defiantly come back...
