We stayed here for an area high school tennis tournament. The boys' room was a disaster: not cleaned, no product; trash overflowing; toilet a gross color. We later learned the toilet had even overflowed. We were offered a room on a separate floor, but with IHSA rules, we needed to monitor them, so needed that room on the same floor. It took the staff an hour to clean the room. The kids were not able to get into their room until 10 pm, long past when they could have showered and gone to bed; resting for early matches the next day. Our room, while clean, smelled like stale cigarettes. Each time I requested to talk with the manager, I was told he was "busy at another hotel." I have tried calling the last two days only to be told he "does not work on the weekends" or "he is busy with that other hotel," and "he comes in at 8 AM or 4:30 if he comes in at all." The staff does not use their real name when dealing with rude customers on the telephone (per what I was told Friday night when I complained about the boys' room). I do not blame them for that. I would do the same thing if someone was extremely rude to me. You can stay in an inexpensive hotel, but you should not have to pay for a filthy room.…
After driving hours with our young children, we showed up to he told that our room was canceled. That was it. They didn't try to get us in there or anywhere else. However, we saw other people unloading their vehicle to stay, so I don't know. They obviously had rooms. Awful way to handle business. We went to Drury Inn down the road to amazing service! They said this place always seem to have problems. So I'd like to review our stay, but apparently they can cancel a reservation without any hesitation. Not what you want when you been on the road with young kids who can't wait to get to the hotel. So frustrating.
Common areas are filthy, trash containers not emptied all day. Many of our rooms were not cleaned at all. It is sad because the location is good and the rooms are spacious. Management needs to address cleaning and maintenance. Also need to have shower mats in tub for safety.
Poop in the toilet, no shower curtain, sink dirty, old soap and shampoo in shower, disgusting. If it hadn't been very late and the second room we tried ( first had NO air!) we would have left. Management was indifferent when we called, refused to call or email. Comfort suites gave us 3000 pts. which is takes between 6000 and 35000 for a nights stay, so big deal.
We've stayed here previously, but it seems to be slipping from great to good. The rooms are tastefully furnished with tables, couch, foot stools, pictures and closet. The bed was comfortable, but not a pillow-top, which many places have now stepped up to. I noticed a definite lack of friendliness, and it appeared that most (not all) employees weren't very happy in their job and probably wished they were elsewhere - not many smiles or cordial greetings. It didn't make you feel very appreciated as a guest or customer. If it were only one or two of the staff, you could consider it a bad day, but this seemed to be systemic, from the top down. They also didn't seem to mind if employees were on their smart phones during work, which in my opinion should be off limits, since it takes away from their attention to the job. In addition, there were noticeable cleanliness issues, from a filthy microwave in the breakfast area to an unswept carpet in the room, to urine stains on the bathroom floor, to an ant infestation in the room. The hotel also seems to be on a money saving trend, not providing complimentary bottled water or USA Today daily newspapers. Not big issues, but certainly available at competitors. The fitness room was well furnished with a variety of equipment, towels and water, but it appeared that they were cutting costs with no television service and no sanitary wipes available to wipe down equipment. The breakfast was good with the usual hot and cold items, And the business center provided two computers and comfortable chairs. The manager was responsive to any problems and kept on top of things in a very business-like manner. I give them an overall "C" grade. With a few improvements, this can be a top contender for a great place to stay. With the variety of local, close-by competitors, it is worth considering.…
