We loved our stay at the hotel and want to return for a longer period! The staff were friendly, rooms large and well appointed. Great parking. Breakfast was included and very good! We went to the museum which is very well done!

Visited the hotel again to see the annual Quilt Show and just to tour the building again. The quilt show is relatively small advertising 100 quilts but if so, some were very small. Cost is $5 and most were not real impressive. The hotel itself is still outstanding when you consider the history that stands behind it.

This is a beautiful old hotel with lots of charm. We dined at the Tavern on the Green pub and also the Courtyard for Sunday brunch. Very good food and reasonable prices in a beautiful atmosphere. We didn't stay at the hotel but may in the future as the location is perfect.

Big room, very quiet. All staff was very friendly. We like to stay is purportedly haunted locations. They leave the General's restaurant open all night, in case you want to investigate. We got some EVP's there. My husband saw a black shadow person on the first floor heading toward the lobby. He thinks it was the "Lady in Black". This...

The place is not only a piece of history, it is a memorable place to stay! The woman at the desk, Robin was absolutely fabulous. We rolled into town on the motorcycles and had a reservation a half an hour away due to it being utterly booked. We stopped in just to admire this beautiful location as we knew it...

Our group of five stayed at this historic hotel located on Main St. as we drove up here from Peoria to go skiing at Chestnut Mt. Resort during last weekend. It is a great choice since it's within 5-10 min walk to all the restaurants, bars and shops downtown Galena. The main floor of the hotel have a lot of...

The Desoto House Hotel in Galena, IL, is an amazing hotel with a great historic background. The lobby and furnishings are a flashback to the centuries past. The rooms are decorated in a 1850's charm with modern conveniences and flat screen TVs. We stayed 2 nights, having to change rooms once because our suite was booked the second night. This...

Front desk services were super nice (we had neighbors who were clearly smoking-we could smell it through the vents and bathroom-when we told the desk they offered solutions). The breakfast buffet (Sunday) was AMAZING! So yummy! Location was perfect for shopping. Only complaints-the towels could use an upgrade/update (rather thin and definitely old/used), and parking is somewhat dangerous (one way-they...

Although we had visited Galena itermittently we usually stayed out of town at Eagle Ridge or a similar place. No more! This hotel is fantastic and one can close his eyes and almost feel like it's 150 years or so earlier. The history of the place is inescapable, the rooms comfortable and attractive and the restaurants and bar are classic....

Staff was wonderful and lunch was great. Atmosphere was perfect for this hotel! Not commercial chain, loved it. A lot of history as you walk around the premises. They have photos and explain what they are about. A little movie about Galena. Love love
