If you like to walk into a bed and breakfast with the smell of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies greeting you at the door, you've landed in the right spot. Rita is a gracious host and provided wonderful recommendations for a gal pal weekend in Galena. The most important part about this bed and breakfast while incredibly historic, extremely clean!...

This location is within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and tourist activities on main street. Beautifully maintained home with wrap around porch and original stained glass windows. Rita provides delicious breakfast, and suggestions regarding local sights and attractions. We rented three of the four available rooms and really enjoyed our stay.

I have always been leery about staying at a Bed & Breakfast. They all seemed to show pictures of lace and dolls and reminded me of someone in their 90s. The Hellman House is not only beautiful, but clean and affordable. We stayed in the Master Suite, and it was so worth it. awesome views and comfortable bed. Can't be...

We're in Galena for a long weekend for my son's wedding. We've booked all four rooms for family members and it's just as if we are in our own home. Rita, the owner/proprietor has gone out of her way to make sure we are comfortable and have everything we need. we just arrived today and our extended family has already...

We stayed at Hellman Guest House this past weekend. Rita was a lovely hostess and very welcoming and helpful. She gave us great recommendations for restaurants and tourist things to see and do. Our room was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. The only oddity is that the sink is located in the bedroom next to the bed...

It was our first B & B stay. Made a last minute reservation for the weekend and was so happy Rita had a vacancy. We enjoyed the Eleanor room with the private bath. No street noise at all. A wonderful homemade breakfast was served along with fresh fruit, juice & coffee each morning. Rita's presentation of our breakfast served on...

Rita is a wonderful host. She is extremely knowledgeable about Galena and the surrounding area. Her hospitality is second-to-none. The room is beautiful and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and well-presented in a beautifully decorated dining room. The view of Galena from the porch is commanding and memorable. The location is convenient to Main Street and all its shops and...

My husband and I have been to Galena a few times, but this is the first time we stayed in a B&B that's on this side of the river (and high up) --- and we had a wonderful stay. Rita is a wonderful host, and our room was so comfortable. It was really nice to be able to take a...

“All of the rooms look lovely, although some are a bit larger than others. No matter which room you are in, though, it should be nice and quiet.”

“If you like claw tubs, ask for that room. Other rooms have showers. Room called Pauline is smallest but big enough for two with plenty of room to walk around.”

“Loved the claw foot bath tub in the Eleanor room! I was amazed at how hot the water was and how hot it stayed for the whole bath. I'd stay in that room again just for that amenity.”
