Check in was simple enough. We wanted to upgrade and at first they named a ridiculous price and when we said it was too much the front desk attendant went to speak to someone and then came back with a reasonable price.
the room was great, the kids loved their little room.
one problem was that the a/c was on heat but blew cold air unless it was over 80 degrees. all night we had cold air so in the morning we called maintenance and they took apart the whole unit and cleaned the filters. by the evening it was still blowing cold air so we called maintenance again and again they took the unit apart and it seemed to work for an hour or so.
another problem was that when we left our room for the day at 10:15 housekeeping was in the room next to ours cleaning. when we got back at 2 to the room they still hadn't come to clean. there was no "do not disturb" sign to put on our door so when we were napping they woke us up to come clean at 2:30.
another problem we had was the yoga tails. it was called for 8 am and we got there at 8:06. in time for the LAST yoga pose. it should have been at least 15-30 minutes.
when the lodge texted me asking how our stay was i mentioned these problems and they asked how they could make it up to us. i said something for the kids would be nice. their best offer was a scoop of ice cream. when i said "is that the best you can do?" they didn't respond.
the arcade was a joke. an expensive joke.
the miniature golf was so expensive we didn't bother.
we keep kosher so we wanted to bring our own snacks to the water park area, but were told we were not allowed to bring in outside food.

All in all, having stayed at the one in Wisconsin Dells I would prefer to drive 3 hours to get there than stay at the one in gurnee, half an hour from where i live.
at least the kids enjoyed themselves.

We live in the area so am very happy that they started doing day passes. The price depends on the day of the week. We went on a Sunday and it was $105 per person. The prices for the days and making reservations are on the website.
The waterpark is slightly smaller than the one in the Dells but it was fun for a day. It was warm, rides were nice, and it was clean. We got lunch at the little stand in the park. For a burger, fries, and drink (no free refills) for three people was $46, a bit hefty for average food. So you pay for convenience. They have lockers inside you can rent which is very nice if you aren’t staying at the hotel. The lobby looked great but that’s as far as we got in the hotel (besides the waterpark). I did see a big arcade on the lower level as well as an indoor play place with a little zip line. But we were there for the waterpark. It was open from 9am to 9pm. The day passes are limited and they only do so many based on hotel occupancy so it won’t get overcrowded, which I appreciate.
Had fun on a winter Chicago day!

Decided that after a year of hunkering down, we would stay out overnight and try to give my 4 year old some much needed fun. Saw the spring break specials and decided to book. Now, I’m not going to lie, I am super cautious about COVID-19 and my family and I have been as safe as we possibly can be, considering we’re essential workers. I read through all 26 pages (yes really) of the precautions being taken at this hotel before booking. I Felt safe knowing that if they and everyone else followed the precautions, we would be ok.
Check in was easy enough and felt safe. Although I did try multiple times to check in via the downloaded app, it never worked. Staff was pleasant and check in felt very clean, especially the wiping down between guests, plastic walls and everyone wearing masks. You can elect to get a wristband that allows charging for everything in the hotel. This was both convenient and potentially dangerous. But, was a great alternative to carrying around a wallet and credit card.
Our room seemed clean, though I also used 1/2 can of Lysol and wipes to ensure my family was even more safe. The only issues I found in the room was that our phone didn’t work, which caused an issue when we tried ordering breakfast for pick up. There is no hair dryer and there’s no closet for hanging up things. The lighting in the room, especially the shower/toilet was very dim which was annoying at times. But overall, it was ok for a one night stay.
The water park area felt pretty well maintained. Staff was plentiful and it didn’t feel too over crowded, even for a Sunday. Waits for the slides weren’t long and they had life vests available for free.
We ate at the barnwood for dinner and had the breakfast vouchers the next morning. Both meals were OK, nothing impressive but were easier than going out of the hotel. We did ‘to-go’ for all orders, which I think they were still figuring out since there was a bit of confusion with both orders.
Overall, it was a decent stay. We felt safe and comfortable and for the $109 we paid, it was a deal. I would not however, return for the regular rate of $300+.

I came on here to rave about the Gurnee location! We went a couple weeks ago and honestly have ZERO complaints!

We arrived around 11 AM and although our room wasn't ready yet, we enjoyed the waterpark until it was. (Around 2:00) Our room was spotless and we had no issues with noise or anything.

The waterpark was a lot smaller than the GWL in WI Dells. (The only other one we have been to.) But we actually liked the layout and it was easier to spread out but still keep an eye on all the kids. We had no issues with finding a table and chairs. We absolutely LOVED the 2 slides with the big family style rafts. They are big round rafts that can seat up to 5 people and the whole raft has a bottom. This was so awesome for our 4 year old that just made the 42 inch cutoff. The other type of rafts are really hard for her to sit in/hold onto. We ordered French fries, chicken tenders and the huge pizza box style nachos, and everything was delicious.

We ate at the Barnwood restaurant one night located inside the resort. We had a table of around 15 people, and the service was phenomenal. We ordered a huge variety of things off the menu, and the portions were huge and the food was awesome. I was actually pleasantly surprised that it didn't just seem like your typical overpriced resort food. We also ordered pizza from Hungry as a Wolf and it was also delicious.

Some family members did the ropes course and it was an awesome course and very reasonably priced.

The dance party was a huge hit with my family, and we loved that there were 2 different time options at this location each night.

It definitely seemed like there were a lot of people at the hotel and waterpark, but also didn't seem overcrowded at all. We weren't sure what to expect for a summer weekend.

We had such a great time and we are already looking forward to booking another trip!

We booked a weekend getaway to the great wolf lodge. This was our second time staying at the property, and even given the issues, it won't be our last. We chose the wolf den suite as our room, and were within the first building. We enjoy this style room as it provides the perfect space to set up our pack and play for our 2 year old and gives some privacy for my husband and I. Room was clean and we were given a room with a balcony that was nice, but we did not enjoy as it had snowed and the facility does not clear off the snow from the balconies, it was too cold for it anyway, but its a FYI.

Overall, we enjoyed the trip, as we had the last time. We had just stayed about 2 months prior. The waterpark is generally fairly clean and there is plenty for our 2 year old to do. We do wish that the slides near the kiddie splash area were gated off but we kept a good watch and didn't have any problems. We enjoy the pizza available near the waterpark and the meatballs are excellent! There is plenty of things to do around the resort at night and we are always a fan of the night dancing for our daughter!

The hotel is near a mcdonalds and we choose to eat there for breakfast instead of using the resorts dining. There are plenty of options for food nearby for all sorts of pallets, but there is typical american dining if you never wish to leave the resort! ice cream at night is most certainly a fun treat, but I do wish the Dunkin stayed open longer throughout the day.

My only complaint is in the management this trip. The day of check out, I was using the restroom when water starting dripping on my head from the vent above! It smelt, and I laid down towels in order to help contain the mess. I am assuming that it may have been toilet water from the floor above, which is concerning as I am also pregnant and who knows what might have been in that water!! My husband and daughter will still sleeping, so I couldn't call right away to get it fixed or checked out, as anyone with a cranky 2 year old knows it would not be a good day for us. The water did stop after 10 minutes and I decided to inform the cleaning crew when we saw them and told management when we checked out. Management apologized and said that they would call me later once their team looked at the pipes, at the very least to let me know what was leaking on me. We never received any phone call, no compensation for dripping toilet water on my head (gross! and not what I expected to have on my vacation!) or even anything other than a half hearted sorry. Management if you read this, I would love to be contacted and perhaps offered something for this! Its now several months later and Im still upset that you couldn't at least follow through with your promise to call, especially since you took down my number.

Overall, I'm disappointed in management as I am assuming that any type of problem will never be resolved by the staff, but that does not take away that the resort is a fun place to be and a nice local vacation spot.

Out of the gate we received absolutely terrible customer service at check-in. The representative that checked us in seemed like she would rather be somewhere else (which after our stay, I fully understand now). We did not get confirmation that our room was ready until after 4:00 which is after their guaranteed check in time.

The prices for the arcade games are absolutely atrocious. If you are visiting the Gurnee, IL location and your kids are wanting to play games, do yourself a favor and go to Chuck E Cheese. It is a few thousand feet away from the resort and you will most likely enjoy better customer service and save yourself some money.

The food is way overpriced and there is truly only one place worth eating at here which is their most expensive restaurant, Barnwood. If we did not have a food voucher to use we would have ate off site for every meal.

The only redeeming factor of this stay was the waterpark. However, if you wish to use the lockers to place your things in you have to pay $15 to use them. I thought that this was a joke. I am already paying $200+ a night for a hotel room AND you want to bilk me for more money to use a locker? Jokes on you, I left my items in the hotel room. Outside of that, my family really enjoyed the water park. It was a little crowded but that was to be expected booking a trip during Spring Break. This was the only redeeming factor of the whole stay however this was still not worth the price of the stay.

I would absolutely rate this place lower if I could. The executives of this operation should be ashamed of the product they are selling. They dont care though, as long as money keeps rolling in they could care less about the consumer's experience.

70 pages of 1 star reviews on Trip Advisor should be a sign. Save your money and stay far, far away from this place.

We stayed here with a large group of 10 other families. Customer service was terrible. Food and drink was extremely expensive, Disney prices, and the wait was just as horrible. This place nickel and dimes you to death. They host a New Years party for the kids and then charge $6 for a small cotton candy. Really? It’s just overpriced and not worth it if this continues. Found my room to have broken light bulbs, the phone not working and worst of all, poop crusted in the toilet. The management sent someone to clean it but offered no compensation or token of apology. They even refused to offer me late check out. The water park was crowded and the floors were very slippery for a water park. You could see the green algae and grime on several spots on the floor throughout the park. It’s really a shame because it could be great. If I’m paying $300+ per night, I expect more.

I went for one night with a family of 6. I booked the Family Suite for $245 for one night on their website for 30% off. They offered 50% off if I book 2 nights after I completed my stay but it was still over $240/night so it's expensive. The ambiance was nice and you could do storytime with the Wolf mascot and they have activities and arcade for kids. It was cheaper to stay at the lodge vs thr Groupon which was offering $199 for 4 Waterpark passes. There is no dryer at the hotel so bring extra swim suits. The wave wasn't activated at the Waterpark. It said on the website that it was 2 queen beds but it was a double bed. So it's small but we had a sofa bed so it was fine. I ordered the breakfast package for $55 for 5 people and they brought it up to the room due to COVID-19. We had to go down to get our Dunkin Donuts. I couldn't use my Dunkin app. The Great Wolf Lodge app is a life saver. I communicated with front desk and was able to order breakfast and my coffee through the app. I didn't have to wait in line thanks to the app. My nephews enjoyed the Waterpark. There’s no food allowed in the Waterpark even though there are restaurants in the Waterpark. You have to take the food to your room but you can drink in the Waterpark. The food is expensive. It's $3 minimum for any drink including water and $4.99 for a 2 liter. Since we only had the room for the night only the next day we had to leave the Waterpark to eat. We didn't order food from the lodge because it was expensive and we had to eat in the car. So we left late in the afternoon. They offered us to pay $79 for 3 extra hours in the room so we can check out at 2 pm instead of 11 am but we didn't think it was worth it. Watch your own kids in the park. Two kids almost drowned during our stay there and lifeguards were unaware.

We had a family suite on the 4th floor for one night Sunday to Monday. The only thing that distinguishes a family suite I believe is a pull-out couch for another bed. Room seemed to be clean. Water park was nice but due to lack of staffing they closed down the lazy river which was very disappointing. Not a tremendous amount of people there which was good. My two adult sons found plenty to do and didn't think it was lame at all for being older. No carry-ons allowed to the water park You're stuck spending money on their drinks or their food unless you leave to go elsewhere. Lots of dinner lunch options all around the resort. With covid going on the whole resort only will take plastic no cash even the vending machines and the stores don't take cash there. We wish we would have known that ahead of time.

This place is a joke.
We paid nearly $800 per night for a deluxe room that is supposed to accommodate 13 guests. There are no microwaves in the deluxe rooms. We are supposed to use a community microwave in the hallway. At a hotel that is sold out. Ha!
There is not enough space or seating in the rooms to actually accommodate close to 13 guests. Sitting on a bed in a wet bathing suit? Not cool.
There is only place to get coffee in the morning. We had to wait in line for over 30 minutes just to get coffee from the Dunkin Donuts. The concierge said "it's a popular place on the weekends." Well, yeah because it's the only option for coffee besides paying for the overpriced buffet or drinking the gross coffee in the room. The hotel was at capacity that weekend - they should foresee a need for having 1) another place to get coffee 2) more than one cashier at the only place to get coffee.
The food at the pool is gross. I'm fairly confident that the burger made me sick.
There was not close to enough rafts to accommodate the number of guests on a sold out weekend, which made the lazy river practically useless.
The halls are so loud. People running through the halls and slamming doors. At midnight.

The cabanas are available. Worth it or not, it depends on your needs. I basically don’t rent them because I need to be around my young kids but I have seen parents with teens and preteens enjoying the privacy while still be near their kiddos.

We had room with patio on the first floor. It was November and the floor was really cold. For the summer it should be a great option, especially because you can actually short park the car close to your patio and unload your bags/groceries right into the room!

In our experience, the restaraunts has very limited hours. The water park was open from 10 am - 8 pm, which wasn’t quite as convenient as it could’ve been. Our room was ready early, but it sounds like we were the exception.
