We had many family members staying in the area and rented about 6 of the "motel rooms" for 4 days. Room service was practically non existent. The beds were never made, the trash was taken out 1 day out of the 4, we had to go in search of kleenex and toilet paper and the room service staff wanted us...

Stayed one night for a job interview in Chicago. The room was large, clean and quiet. It allowed me to prep for interview. The bed was firm, but comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly. Ate dinner in the American Grille and loved it. I'd stay again!

Beware, this is not a nice motel. This is no a hotel, how they get away using the Carleton name, is beyond me. 1. Dated and dirty motel room. .25 roll of toilet paper (no extra rolls) no Kleenex, either 2. Noisy all night long. Slamming doors, loud folks in the next room. Room heater was noisy. 3. In the...

This hotel in downtown Oak Park has the charm of an old-fashioned hotel (great woodwork, high ceilings, grand lobby, etc) with the convenience of a great downtown Oak Park location. Prices were reasonable and the restaurants on the first floor were really quite good. Food service was excellent and the front desk staff were helpful, friendly. Would recommend for a...

We had a large group, only a few of us were the first ones there, so check in was a little slow, but understandable. The lobby was very nice, fancy lounging chairs. The room had old fashion heating, which worked really wel, keeping the room toasty while it was 0 outside. Bar and restaurant were very nice as well.

the carleton is a very elegant hotel. just beautiful throughout. but many don't know about the motor court rooms. they are like old-style family motel. you enter from the parking lot, not the lobby. they are somewhat dated, but clean and functional. i travel alone for short stays, and they are a bargain and my favorite. you still can access...

I was a little leery of this boutique hotel in Oak Park. In my experience, these types of hotels are old and musty. The Carleton was a wonderful surprise! Staffed by just charming people, it was simple to negotiate, unintimidating, and just easy on the psyche. No bellhops approaching you to assist. No parking attendants rushing the car. It has...

Our first trip to Chicago but we didn't want to stay in the city and worry about parking or pay city prices. The Carleton was excellent. Our room in the main section was large and included a kitchen. It's in Oak Park which is a very pretty town with lots of shops and restaurants - many just a short walk...

Stayed at this very historic hotel for a couple of days. It has been upgraded and done very tastefully. Issue is that it is a small hotel and some of the rooms are very small. Rooms are very well kept up, but our particular room had a very, very small bathroom. Also, checking in and getting to your room is...
