Visited midweek for a spa break for a birthday present. This was the second time here, it's a fantastic hotel. Rooms are large, airg and clean. We were opposite the entrance to the spa complex so really convenient. Our deal included a three course meal and I have to say, the food is excellent. Nicely presented, very tasty and plenty of it. The bar is warm and welcoming. The spa area is clean, spacious, changing rooms are spotless with complimentary toiletries, hairdryers etc. All of the staff were friendly throughout the hotel and spa treatments excellent. The pool area and jacuzzi/sauna are also clean and well maintained. I can't fault this place it's fab

Dear G3842AFsallyf, What an amazing review! Thank you so so much. We are a privately family owned hotel and a very close-knit Team. That family feeling filters down through the Team and everyone really enjoys working here. When Staff are happy and content in their roles, that effects their work ethic to providing Guests with fantastic service and care. We are here to provide and not only meet, but exceed Guest expectations. A Hotel full of smiling Staff is always a good sign 😊. Thank you for appreciating the Team's efforts and complimenting our lovely Hotel. Hopefully we will be able to welcome you back soon. Kind regards, Mark Glass Deputy General Manager

I stayed for two nights while visiting Malvern. The hotel is a nice combination of traditional and contemporary. The reception area is large with comfortable seating areas. The check in team are friendly and accommodating.

There's a nice pub/bar selling a range of drinks but no cask conditioned beers which is a shame. A full meal can be ordered in the bar I had a very nice cottage pie and vegetables.

My room was modern and clean and the heating was easily controlled, I like it warm! A heated towel rail kept the bathroom warm once i'd taken the fluffy towels off! The provided soap/shampoo/conditioner and lotion were of a good quality and renewed once used.

The spa was lovely, not particularly large but there was a sauna, steam room, hot tub and decent pool. The feel was relaxing rather than sporty. I particularly liked the under floor heating which was nice under foot while changing. Plenty of sun beds round the pool and complementary magazines meant it was pleasant to relax with a nice view from the large patio.

I had a massage from Becky which was lovely, the oils used were decent and the massage table heated.

Breakfast was served in a large room off reception there was a good choice of hot and cold food. The pastries were very nice but only sliced white or brown bread on the two days I ate.

In all I'd highly recommend a stay, plenty of parking and its position make it a great location for touring.

As an electric car driver I'd like to see chargers installed (note you can get them free as the installer essentially tents the space on your car park. You also gain trade, I went to Stanbrook Abbey to charge where i had sandwiches and coffee while I waited for 30 minutes to charge - A sale you missed!

Dear Ianyek12, Thank you for writing a review following your recent stay at The Bank House Hotel, Spa & Golf Club. It is great to read that you managed to experience most of our facilities across the site and found both our facilities and service to be of a good quality, from our rooms and consumables through to your Spa and dining experiences. I am also very pleased for your constructive feedback regarding cask conditioned beers and electric charging points for cars. I will certainly pass this onto our Bar team for review, I can also confirm we are currently looking into different vehicle charging options across the market to comply with the increasing demand for them. As you mention I hope this can not only increase trade but also add to our guest’s experience. I hope you return to The Bank House soon for another great experience along with some improvements due to our continuing development plans aligned with your feedback. Kind Regards, Adam Richards

Hotel communication via email outstanding before our visit, all queries answered straight away even from the manager Adam. Thank for the (FOC) room upgrade.

Easy check in rooms ready from 1pm which gives your more time on your stay rooms were very comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean. Some areas of the main hotel need updating mainly carpets. Especially in the dining room.

Food was delicious and plentiful , cream tea was also lovely and very well presented. Staff were helpful especially Amy and the gentleman with the big beard didn’t catch is name, they had both worked a long shift covering staff shortages with masks on but they were happy and polite.

Reception staff in the spa were a little bit of a mixed bag a bit grumpy and non informative. The spa it’s self is spotless the only down side is the jacuzzi is tiny you can just about fit four people in with a squeeze . It would be lovely if the hotel could invest in some outside jacuzzis under a cover in the large out door space facing the lovely garden . The swimming pool is nice but quite chilly you couldn’t stay in there to long it could do with the temperature going up a few notches. Also not enough day beds inside or out, the outdoor space was very quiet. Unfortunately a lot of children arrived around 4pm with a lot of noise and screaming which is quite off putting when your trying to relax and chill out .
Why do spas allow children???
All six of us had a 60 minute treatment each the therapists were lovely and polite thank you Claire for my brilliant hot stone massage it was one of the best I’ve had. No wonder you have been at the hotel for five years you are a credit to the hotel😊
All in all the hotel is very nice and the staff are lovely , but the small spa area lets the hotel down , mainly the jacuzzi thermal suite area it needs to be expanded.
If this ever goes ahead we wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Booked as a family get away due to stressed over wedding postponements, picked the spa hotel as online stated spa was open but needed to have booked appointments on arrival, however when booked was informed the spa was closed - so we did not bring swimwear. Only to find upon arrival, that the spa is open, comes with an additional £10 charge - but gutted as I was going to be treated to some spa treatments.
We also tried to book a table for our evening meal prior to arrival, only to be told that the restaurant was fully booked. Another piece of information not provided at the time of booking, given that there is only a pub a drive away, we called back and spoke to the restaurant manager, who then did make arrangements for us to have a table. To be fair there was enough space within the restaurant area, movement of staff and all social distancing measures for that and another table to be used, and at no point when we were there were all the tables used.
The rooms were lovely, the food was lovely but extremely limited menu, expensive for drinks £6.25 175ml glass of wine.
Social distancing measures followed, one way system, very clean, all residents and staff used masks. Just wish the information provided at point of booking/confirmation was correct, sadly impacted on our stay.

Liked · Excellent car parking, nice room We paid extra for an Executive room, but I assume the standard rooms are of the same quality, just a bit smaller. The room windows opened wide, which was very welcome on a warm August night, and there was very little noise from outside. There was a very pleasant outside terrace that captured the evening sun.

Disliked · We paid more than we would usually because we decided to go to a hotel with a pool. On enquiring at reception, we were told that as we had booked the hotel via a third party, Booking.com, we would have to pay a £10 per one hour session per person supplement. We were not made aware of this on booking. We did ask to speak to the Manager on two occasions, but he never got back to us. Poor customer relations.

Breakfast on the first morning was buffet, a choice of cereals, juice, toast and hot English breakfast items. We were not made aware of anything else. How difficult is it to put out some fruit, yoghurt, and pastries.

On the second morning there was a menu on our table, informing us that we could order various other meals, fresh fruit platter, natural and fruit yoghurts, freshly baked pastries, cereals, seeds and fruit compote, on the Continental selection. There was also the option of Breakfast Sandwiches, filling of your choice, Traditional English Breakfast, Vegetarian Breakfast, and Oak Smoked Salmon and Scrambled eggs. All served at your table. It would have been lovely to have been made aware of this on the first day. Why weren’t we?

The Bar is a totally soulless experience, no hand pulled ale, and a very uninviting seating area. On our first evening, two of the three security screens were pulled down. The bar staff Were OK, but at £4.75 for a bottle of ale, I think they could at least have poured it. We went out to the terrace, which was lovely in the evening sun, but the rain started so we retreated to the bar. We didn’t linger, and just had the one drink. Most people who used the bar sat in the Hotel Reception area.

WiFi was only free in public areas, you had to pay to use it in your room. But even then, the reception was not great. We are on Virgin mobile, and the signal was very weak.

OK for business travel, but not as a destination hotel for couples.

We stayed for four nights at the Bank House Hotel from Wednesday 9th September. The rooms were very big, spacious and comfortable with some stunning views. Housekeeping was not scheduled daily, which is understandable given the current climate. However, they were able to fulfil any requests regarding toiletries, towels etc. Most staff were very friendly and hospitable especially Charlotte and James who provided us with great service throughout our stay. The golf and spa were also a great experience for my husband and me. However, I was disappointed with the breakfast, which seemed to be prepared with a lack of care – some of the food was overcooked, such as the bacon and hash browns. They were also short staffed during the breakfast period due to covid-19, but despite that service should still have been up to standard and delivered with a smile and I felt that this was not apparent.

We have just returned from a two night stay at this hotel. When we arrived, the check in was very quick and the room was a good size and well presented. Parts of the hotel could just pass for 4star but the restaurant room was most definitely scraping 3star. The Food WAS good though although a very basic menu due to COVID restrictions.

We had breakfast the following morning and arrived at 9:40am as they stopped service at 10am - we were told that we would have to order immediately (which we did) we then ate and had great service from one of the waitresses who asked us what we had planned for the day and then made a few suggestions and gave us some leaflets. She left and then another waitress was hovering holding a tray with cutlery , desperate to get rid of us so she could lay the table for dinner. We felt very awkward.

Bar staff were pleasant and service good.

We asked to use the pool as this was part of our package (we were told) but we would of had to pay £10 each per hour - I explained that it was included but the receptionist just said, “ you’ll just have to sort it with the spa staff” we decided to just leave it with that response and therefore didn’t bother.

On the morning of our departure, the room telephone rang dead on 11am. The receptionist on the end of the phone (word for word) bluntly said ...” hello, 11am checkout” I replied , sorry we have a late 1pm checkout - she said “ ok and put the phone down 🤣. At 11:10am we had another call who again told us that our check out was 11am 🙈. After this, we just decided to leave as the staff clearly wanted us out, so I went to reception to pay. I was given the bill only to find that we had been charged for food in error and had other people’s drinks added. The bill given was £100.55 the correct amount due was £35... bit of a difference hey.

So if you want a little break here, then do it as this isn’t a review to warn you off ... BUT be careful of what you have booked and keep a track of what ever you spend.

Stayed for two nights on 30th and 31st December and went to New Years Eve Gala Evening.

Pros:
The staff were all very polite and efficient. Although (see below) they seemed under staffed at times.
All the food we had was great, even the pizza from the Sportsman Bar.

Cons:
Rooms are basic and workmanship in rooms and bathrooms is not good.
We were told we could not check in until 3pm on the 30th despite our email confirmation saying 1pm and the hotel being virtually empty.
No hot water when getting ready for the gala evening on 31st. Spoke to at least 6 others who all had the same problem. If you put on a function and want guests at your hotel, you should make sure this basic necessity is catered for! The issue was clearly too many people staying. This is nothing but poor management.
Not enough staff. Long waits at bar and reception at times.
The singer at the gala night started singing at 10.15 even though he was present from at least 7.30. The function started at 7 and we had already had 4 or 5 courses at this point. Such a late start meant the atmosphere was rather flat in the room.
There is no dance floor in the Garden Room so those who wanted to do so, had to dance around the singer. This, and the fact the evening felt pretty aimless, meant that most people in the room (including us) drifted over to the Casino Royale event in the other function room (where there is a disco and dance floor) for a bit of atmosphere.
The bar staff disappeared just before midnight. A lot of people thought the bar had closed and wandered off after saying their "happy new years". I later found out the manager had let them go and call their families. This is a lovely touch from the manager but people should have been informed of this! It meant a pretty flat evening fell even flatter.
No glass of fizz at midnight as advertised. Not a major issue but just added to everything else.

I would never visit this hotel again and would urge people to think twice before booking tickets for a large event.

I was really disappointed today with our visit and completely underwhelmed. We received a warm welcome from staff and things were explained well but the facilities were dirty. Unfortunately in the half day we were there staff only cleared pool are once. Not once did anyone squidgy floor which was covered in hair, fluff and dirt. Towels were all mis matched and no consistency with what visitors were given flip flops for me but other guests had to ask and so were given slippers and none available for men at all. The hot tub had so much chlorine in it was like a bubble bath, it stung our eyes and has given me a sore throat. There was brown scum around the top of hot tub where the over chlorinated bubbles were congregating. There was dirt splashed up the walls in the steam room, hairs over the grid and seal at bottom of door was filthy. It wasn’t that busy and there were plenty of staff but no one seemed to worried about hygiene. The massages we had were ok and rooms appeared cleaner but with mood lighting couldn’t really see. Really disappointed as this has been the first downtime we have had in 12/18 months and £150 feeling ripped off and let down. ☹️

Tried the spa and bar for the first time, it was something of a mixed bag. The pool is nice but cold. I don't mid a cold pool of its big enough to train in, this is not, as such needs to be warmer. The gym is a big standard hotel gym and pretty ill equipped. The steam room was good and hot, the hot tub is tiny and had four blokes in there for a long time which stopped us from going in.

The bar was bizarre. It's expensive, which you would expect from a hotel bar, but they have no clue what they are doing, which makes the price really grate. Enquiring about the gin, we were informed that the Hussingtree is owned by Chase, which is clearly inaccurate, we asked what it should be served with, advised any fruit (again, inaccurate). Finally it was served in a straight lemonade glass, not a gin glass. This, and a pint of IPA was £11.50. You can't charge those prices and serve it like it Gordon's!!

Something of a shame.

Dear finedinewine, I appreciate the time you have taken to write a constructive review of The Bank House Hotel, Spa & Golf Club. I will certainly look into and review our pool temperature along with the ambient air temperature within our spa as this is a fine balance of which normally meets our guests comfort levels, I am sorry that this has not been the case on this occasion. Although our Spa is heavily focussed around relaxation, we do offer a gym that is aimed to cover as many workout types as possible from free weights and rowing machine through to treadmills and resistance cube. I would also like to apologise for what would appear to be a lack in knowledge within our bar service during your visit. We have been working very closely with Hussingtree Gin over the last 12 months including team training and tasting sessions through to public ticketed sessions with the owners of Hussingtree Gin. I will ensure alongside our Bar Manager that all our bar team are brought up to speed with not only this product but our range served across the bar. I hope you can return to The Bank House hotel soon where I hope you will see a positive difference within such service. Kind Regards,

Hi We did not eat anywhere local as we had all our meals in the hotel. The food was good and there was no need to try somewhere else. There is a pub about a mile away but was closed when we drove past.
