We hesitated to book this resort based on the multitude of reviews citing problems, but we booked it anyways because it was in our budget for a New Tear’s vacation. We traveled as a family of 7, my Mom, my sister and her partner, and then my family of 4 which consists of me, my husband and our two teenagers.
This area is about 1.5 hours from the airport by vehicle, it’s not far (66kms) but the roads go up and down several mountains. It’s also a good distance from the Pitons, but there is a catamaran excursion you can take which cuts the travel time immensely.
The good: The staff are lovely and work very hard with what they have to create an enjoyable experience for the guests. The buffet is surprisingly good, it’s not big but it always had some North American-friendly options as well as local options. The kitchen staff were always checking to see if there was enough food and were quick to replenish when needed. The desserts are delightful! The beach is probably the nicest beach on the island. The water is very calm and safe for swimming. The pool area looks exactly like the photo on Trip Advisor. The New Year’s Eve party was a wonderful surprise with dinner by the pool, entertainment throughout the evening and fireworks over the ocean at midnight. The area around the resort is very safe, we walked the area as well as to the nearby shopping mall and never had issues. The shopping mall is great for local spices, sea moss, sunscreen and other things you may need while on the island. One of the neighbouring resorts, Starfish, has non-motorized water sports (kayaks and a Hobbie) which can be signed out for 30 minutes free of charge which was a fun way to spend time in the bay.
The not so good: The resort is lacking in basic maintenance, and this appears to have been an issue for many years. There were holes in walls covered by plant pots, broken tiles on the floor in common areas and generally the place needs a good coat of paint and some touch ups. We had 4 rooms, three of which were beside each other, and all of which had issues. I went to adjust a shower jet for my first shower and it came out in my hand. Told the front desk about it three times but it was never fixed, and judging by the amount of silicone on the jet, this wasn’t the first time it had come loose. Our toilet leaked; however, this was fixed quickly the same day. My Mom didn’t have hot water for 4 days, finally after the Air Canada vacations representative contacted the hotel management she had lukewarm water. Then all 4 rooms had only hot water for about a day, until on our last day everything seemed to be working. We spoke to other guests staying in our section of the hotel who were having similar issues. Clean linens were an issue, the pool often did not have pool towels available and we had to ask repeatedly for clean facecloths.
We spoke to other people staying at Starfish, they had similar issues.
As much as we enjoyed the area, I would not suggest staying here. For what we paid, we should not have had issues with basic utilities.

We recently returned home from another fabulous Christmas stay at Mystique. This was our 5th stay and it certainly won't be our last, God willing
Our room was great. Everything worked well and we didn't have any issues at all. Plenty of hot water for bath and shower etc. Towels and face cloths were replaced daily as was our bottled water, coffee, creamer etc. We had a really lovely room attendant, Samantha, who made sure that our room was serviced well daily. Thank you so much Samantha and we hope to see you again soon.
The beach in front of the resort is absolutely stunning, the beach palapas have new roofs which are much better than the old grass roofs which when breezy the grass used to blew away. Each day we sat on the beach in the shade of a beach palapas, we never had any issues getting a sun lounger.
The L'Epicure and terrace restaurant are buffet style. Which really suits us and we thoroughly enjoyed all of our meals there.
The Mahi's beach restaurant served food such as roti, Mahi salad, hot dogs, beefburgers, jerk chicken wrap and other options.
We found that service was good and quick in both the swim up bar and La Mistral lounge. Plenty of choice of cocktails etc and very tasty. Then bar tenders were all so helpful and great.
We enjoyed the evening entertainment, especially the fire eaters and limbo dancers and Christmas Day evening with Shervon Sealy and singing partner was such a treat.
We had an absolutely wonderful time and would like to thank everyone who works at Mystique for making our stay so special. May everyone have a Healthy and Happy 2024

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
We were so worried about our stay due to bad reviews. I am very glad we didn't change our booking. Yes there are elements that need updating such as the bedroom floor, but for the price paid compared to other hotels we were very happy & hope to return. I would have liked a double bed rather than 2 singles pushed together, however i slept so well!
Regarding the food, there is ample choice every meal time inc, fresh fish, chicken, salads, everything we had during our 10 days was lovely. So much choice, do many hot dishes. It is lovely local food, if you want american food, fries etc this is not for you!
Chic needs to be booked & offers a formal sit down menu in the evenings. It is 'formal' & although the small menu was nice, we preferred the atmosphere in the main dining room.
If you get a chance to go sailing with Leslie, he is not part of the hotel staff but came highly recommended to us by returning guests. As you look out to sea from the hotel he is over to the left sat on his bob cat little boat, picture on here for reference. Charming, honest lovely local man who taught husband to sail. He also took us over to Pigeon Island one day, well worth a visit.
We met some really nice people, where the hotel is quite small you soon see familiar faces.
Irwin, the night manager made our stay even more special with his conversation, attentiveness, humour & lovely personality. What a credit to the hotel he is!
Also, Stefan, what a nice young man, working so hard, so friendly & attentive, always greeting us with a smile & by name.
The dining area, we experienced fantastic service from Calton & Marthalina, both of which went out of their way looking after us, both of which were always working so hard, so friendly & good at their jobs. Trevor, also very nice.
Krishna cleaned our room perfectly every day, she went out of her way to bring me the Tea bags i liked. What a lovely hard working young lady she is.
Troy & Nigel, thank you for the lovely drinks at the pool bar & the laughter. All of the above are a credit to the hotel & all made our stay even better!
So many lovely sunsets to be had at the beach, beautiful.
Entertainment wise, the fire eaters were amazing, also the silent disco was good fun!
Now....the staff in Mahi's....well this is the only encounter we had with rude staff. Seriously awful attitudes. Not even able to raise a smile, we were also told to carry then scrape & stack our plates after our meal whilst 4 of them stood about not working! Everything was an effort for them.
I would like another hotel security person to be present at the far end of the hotel fronting the beach. One person didn't always feel enough.

Do NOT go to this hotel!!! Should have listened to the many negative reviews but unfortunately I didn't. First to get a lounge chair on the beach, you have to get there no later than 7am and leave a towel or article there. After 7am all chairs are "reserved". No where on line or in their pamphlet did I see it mentioned that it was a public beach that the hotel had no control over. Was not the cleanest beach I've been on. Now on to the restaurants at this "all inclusive". There are only 2 - one is the buffet and the other is Chic where you need to make a reservation prior. If you don't book for Chic 24 hrs in advance as soon as available, then you are not getting a reservation. I was closed out twice. That meant breakfast, lunch and dinner in the same buffet restaurant where the food was not that good and definitely not culturally diverse. Every meal had a main dish of a fish or chix dish and sometimes a pork dish was added. To me that is not diversity! While the room was a nice size there were not enough US electrical outlets and the Internet was awful. I was usually able to get it on my laptop but rarely on my cell. I could get incoming e-mails but never could send outgoing e-mails. I could go on with more but why? My wife and I have been to St. Lucia 7x and in 3 different all inclusives. This was by far the worst!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

The food is great, we loved eating local cuisine The beach and ocean and proximity to town is fantastic The staff are awesome: however the front desk is not good at all, very very slow and not one smile. Love the key on the bracelet idea; however it took three days from someone to tell me it likely didn't work because of my watch! Perhaps tell people this upon check-in
The rooms and the entire hotel is in complete disrepair: tiles loose, black mold in bathroom, the balcony doors do not close and we had to contact the office three times to have someone clean the track to open the doors! Shower and both sinks had leaky taps which we asked several people to repair which was not done. The shower floor was slimy and we had to put a towel down to keep from slipping. Black on shower ceiling and very dark and uncomfortable. While I was in the lobby for 20 minutes three people fell as they have the same tiles on stairs and lobby ergo many people missed the step! There are many 2 inch unnecessary small steps up and down which cause many trips. There was a coffee stain on the counter when we arrived and it was still there two weeks later The room furniture is very worn, beds and linens are great Not enough pool chairs or beach chairs; however there is plenty of room to add more. Most of their beachfront is reserved for the cruise ships which leaves a small amount for the hotel clients very frustrating
The pool has many huge cracks along to bar and top of entire pool also much black dirt around to swim-up bar. Two people got a terrible rash from the pool. Beach restaurant is very tasty: however the five days we ordered their hamburgers the order was wrong. They covered them in mayo and relish and cheese even though they wrote down my request for no mayo or relish or cheese. It became quite a joke. They also ran out of items early each day.
I tried to find a contact to send this review to personally in the hope that they would make some improvements and not impact jobs: however that contact does not exist.
This does not come close to the Royalton name nor their resort description and I warn you against this property.

So disappointed. Only day 3 of our 6 day trip and it has been the worst. This trip is for our honeymoon and my husbands first time out of the country and this resort has ruined every day we’ve been here so far. Only stayed because of the Royalton name and this is definitely not what I’m used to when it comes to them. First day here arriving around 4pm there was an extremely loud chirping/beeping noise outside our room which sounded like a smoke detector going off. We asked front desk to please check into it and they said they would. Went to diner and came back checked in at front desk who told us once again would call maintenance so we decided to walk around property for a while and check things out. Back at front desk now 8:30pm, again asked what the solution was and decided to not leave so something would get handled. Maintenance was finally called with us standing there. The staff acted as if there wasn’t a problem and didn’t have a room to move us to. Finally talked staff into coming into our room so they could hear it for themselves and then they agreed they could move us, told us it could only be for that night and we would need to move back to our room in the am. Day 2 hounded none stop by locals trying to sell us everything under the sun while we were on the property at one of the restaurant trying to enjoy our meals (restaurant/grill was right at the edge of property near beach) mentioned this serval times to employees and nothing was done. Didn’t even go onto beach because we didn’t want to be harassed anymore. We decided to book a fishing excursion to get us off the property and enjoy our time together, booked excursion with Nexus Tours ( on the property next to front desk) for 7am on our 3rd day here. Day 3, wake up get ready for our fishing trip and walk down to restaurant where breakfast is served. Breakfast starts at 7am arrived at 6:55am asking if we could get something quick to go because of our trip and not being able to eat or knowing if and where we could eat off the property. Employee standing telling us no we had to wait 5 more minutes while we were expressing to her we would miss our bus if we had to wait didn’t seem to care at all while she stood there eating a plate of food herself off the buffet right in front of us. Back at front of resort waiting on our 7am ride to fishing trip, now almost 8am we are finally able to get ahold of someone who tells us our trip has been moved to 11:50 am without notifying us. This fishing trip is a 4 hr fishing trip and we had planned on doing other things after we finished and now our entire day will be held up so we don’t lose the $400 we paid to go on this trip. It’s now 11:18am and we are hoping for the best. It would be nice if Royalton could/would do something to compensate us for our experience, thus far, given the fact that this was supposed to be the most memorable week for us starting our life’s together. I would love to be contacted by Royalton @ sunshines0811@yahoo.com

Your feedback is of utmost importance to us, and I assure you that we take your concerns very seriously. I am truly sorry for the inconvenience caused by the noise issue in your room and the lack of prompt resolution from our team. Please know that we are actively investigating the issues you have raised and taking immediate steps to address them with our staff and management team. After reading some reviews I had to make sure I took the time to leave a review of our 10 day stay which was excellent. Having seen first hand some of the ridiculous comments made by a select few people staying at this resort just don't seem to get it, they should bear in mind it is the Caribbean not central London and its also not £1000 a night like some resorts in Saint Lucia. As an all inclusive resort in a great location my partner and I were really happy and very much enjoyed our stay. Our room was very comfortable with a good bed and pillows (= a good nights sleep which isn't always the case on holiday) and excellent features including an iron and ironing board, air con, tea coffee etc. If there was anything needed reception were always pleased to help and very attentive. Food at the formal restaurant is exceptional and included in the all inclusive, buffet is very good quality but don't expect nuggets and chips, its more tailored local cuisine (so naturally a slightly smaller selection) and was all cooked very well, breakfast also had a good selection, personally I would rather have a smaller selection of good food than a wide selection of bland food like I have experienced on other all inclusive holidays. The beach bar also does food until 6pm and offers a more relaxed menu, throughout our stay we tried the Roti (very good), Burger & Chips, Fish & Chips, Panini & Toasty and the chicken wings all were very nice. Drinks are good quality with good variety including the wine. The staff are out of this world and can’t do enough to help (Troy at the pool bar was particularly funny). I would say it is very good value for money and we would stay again. Wi-Fi is a touch hit and miss in the rooms at busy times that’s my only criticism, but with the beach and views around you it’s not going to be a bother. Location is good and I would recommend trying some of the local bars and places around as there is a lot to chose from if you like to get off the resort from time to time.

We have stayed in various hotels around the world, varying from 3* to 5* and I can honestly say that this is one of the worst hotel we have stayed in. A lot of money wasted on a bad experience. The only good thing about this hotel is its location on a lovely beach and within walking distance to town.
We arrived late and exhausted after a 3 hour delay in Gatwick only to find the aircon in our room didn’t work. We walked through the hotel grounds at 12.30 am to another room for our first night. The aircon was fixed next morning but then we discovered the safe was broken and they didn’t have a replacement! So we had to keep our money, passports etc locked in our suitcase. Not a good start to our holiday.
The lounger situation is abysmal, definitely not enough of them. The ones they had were very tatty and quite a few were broken. If you wanted a lounger you had to be up at 6am, especially if you wanted shade. NOT what I call a relaxing holiday. Loungers on the beach were so old and uncomfortable you could give yourself a back injury lying on them.
Toilets by the Chic restaurant were filthy with soaking wet floors (due to faulty/broken plumbing) with only 1 out of 3 functioning for most of our stay. These toilets served the swimming pool area during the day but also served the bar and restaurants during the evenings. Definitely not the place you want use when dressed up for the evening.
We knew of three couples (there were probably more) who hadn’t had hot water in their rooms for three consecutive days. Hot water in your room is surely to be expected as standard!
Breakfasts and lunches at the buffet restaurant were good but the food at dinner was AWFUL. The food was cold and inedible most nights, I am not fussy and will eat pretty much anything but even I had problems most nights and went without. My poor husband lived mainly on desserts! The Chic restaurant was our saviour which we went to on a few occasions.
The sad thing is that this hotel could be so lovely and it probably was in its day. The faults I mentioned above could so easily be rectified without too much cost. Don’t know if it’s true but we heard that The Royalton have bought the adjoining waste land and The Star Fish Hotel with the intention of building one big hotel. If this is the case I doubt if they will be making any improvements to the Mystique at the moment. So in the meantime, I would advise all to keep away!

We spent Christmas again at this special resort as we had had a wonderful time there last Christmas and also last February.
After such a long day of travelling from the UK we were met at the airport by our taxi driver who drove safely and respectfully from the airport to Mystique pointing our places of interest on the way.
On our arrival we were greeted and offered fruit or rum punch which was very welcome after such a long day of travel.
We were checked in and tourism paid by lovely Crystal.
Our room had a coffee maker which was great and every day we were supplied coffee, bottled water etc. Since last February there was a new A/C unit on our patio which provided a much welcomed flow of nice cooling air.. Also a new mini fridge. Our bed was wonderfully comfortable after a long day on the beach and then enjoying the evening entertainment. Everything in our room worked well and our room attendant Tamara was very friendly and provided a good standard of care in her work.
As of last year we always enjoyed all of our breakfast and dinners in the L'Epicure restaurant, particularly at breakfast I loved the local fish, bakes etc plus fresh fruits. Dinner for us was always taken in L,Epicure restaurant as we prefer buffet meals rather than al a carte. At lunchtime we frequented Mahi's where we enjoyed great food.
We spent nearly everyday on the beautiful beach and swimming in the sea and pool..
The entertainment team Chantal and Jasmine were brilliant, such happy and bubbly people who worked so hard. My sister who liked water aerobics often had an instructor for her exercise session to herself as other guests were like myself and preferred to watch rather than participate.
We found the evening entertainment very enjoyable, singers Dre and Cowboy were excellent as was the fire and limbo show and the band, sadly I can't remember their name. My sister also loved the karaoke evening where she 'sang' her heart out.
We would like to thank everyone working at Mystique for making our stay so wonderful with so many happy memories.
A special thank you to Greta, Crystal, Chantal and Jasmine.
See you in February

The hotel definitely needs a good uplift/refurb but overall we had a good experience and a great week. The weather wasn’t always great and the frequent downpours had an impact on the pool towels availability, ie, sometimes there weren't enough towels as the turnaround was rather slow, mainly due to people leaving their towels on the chairs and these getting soaking wet. Nonetheless there should be better pool towel provision.
The room was very spacious as we had upgraded to a deluxe junior suite and the view was astounding! The balcony was very spacious with plenty of seating to enable us to enjoy the beautiful vistas!
The very well manicured gardens were tended to every day by this very dedicated resident gardener whom we saw regularly early in the morning.
The breakfast/lunch/dinner buffet was average with a fairly good choice of dishes, for meat, fish or vegetarian lovers. Thanks to Stefan in reception, we managed to get a reservation at Chic, the a la carte restaurant in the hotel and we really enjoyed it, the service was great, the food tasty and it was an enjoyable evening!
The evening entertainment was actually quite good, from the western country singer, the steel band, the great fire and limbo act and the amazingly fun silent disco!
Most of the staff were amazing, clearly overworked which was noticeable by all the guests. This impacted on the delays by the pool bar but we didn’t mind because time was on our side! Staff I’d like to mention that were always attentive and helpful are Lisa (breakfast omelette station), Gio, Stefan, Renoir, Jennifer and others that I did not manage to capture their names.
Despite all the ongoing negativity from a few of the guests as they had experienced a few problems during their stay, we did not have any problems or complaints. We had a good week and made some very good memories!

Sofa bed. It was only the two of us inour room but I saw many rooms at garden level open showing the Lshaped sofa we had (and that you can see in the pictures) laid as a bed. With this being said, you can’t sneak a 3rd adult in without telling them. I took a separate room for my teenagers, and although their room was much bigger than ours, it had a normal small sofa which could not transform into a bed
I did see a young family with a portable shade. The beach is pretty laid back so I can’t imagine anyone telling you to take it down unless you’re blocking their view :)
