We arrived on a Thursday evening for a 4 night stay, and were given a room facing into the interior pool complex, no natural light. The phone in the room didn't work, there was nothing in the room to give the phone number of the hotel. I did find it on-line and called the front desk to ask for pillows ( there were only 2 on a king size bed) and to ask about changing rooms. I got the pillows but nothing about moving.
In the morning I asked about the room change and got no guarantee, but later did hear that we could move, and we did. Still no operable windows, but at least light!
The property as a whole is poorly maintained. Common areas are shabby ( duct tape on the carpet edge where it meets a tile area), floors dirty and the elevator only occasionally cleaned of abandoned water bottles and trash on the floor.
Large, rolling tubs for dirty linen and for trash stood in the hallway all day, every day I was there. The carpet in the hallway was never vacuumed, and the chocolate cake that a guest dropped on Friday was still there, although walked through and spread around, on Monday. I told the front desk and again told one of the managers in person about the dirty carpet but nothing was done.
The two positive things I can say about this property are the location. If you need to be both in Chicago and the northern suburbs this is a very convenient location, easy to get on and off of the 94 highway and other major streets. And, the room was large, if poorly lit and poorly ventilated. The bathroom has a good mirror/lighting arrangement and was functional. Except for the toilet which was at a height I associate with a kindergarten classroom!
There will be no more stays at this place for me! I'd rather travel an extra 15 minutes and spend more than endure this place again.

Location is good, but rooms are dated and hallways (including the elevator) need cleaning attention. The door to our room had a large gap at the top, so hallway noise was clearly heard.. Paint is chipped and scuffed, carpet is stained, and overall cleanliness and attention to detail is a big question. Our toilet had a ring in the bowl that looked like it hadn't been scrubbed in awhile...pandemic travel is stressful enough without feeling uncomfortable about hygiene standards. I know that workers are in short supply everywhere, but I feel like this hotel could do more to improve the guest experience.

Dear KVF, I appreciate you for sharing your review about your recent stay. I am very sorry that you did not experience an exemplary hotel stay due to our stained carpet and the cleanliness of our hallways, the elevator, as well as our room. This is certainly below our usual high standard of service. Please be assured that I have noted and forwarded your comments for the management to improve. In the midst of the inconvenience, I am glad to know that the location of our hotel was still appreciated. I very much hope that you will grant us the opportunity to prove ourselves again. Best Regards, Ben W. Case Manager IHGService

Patty at the front desk was amazing. She knew I was very upset with my experience at a Quality Inn about 20 mins away, where they double charged me and still wouldn't let me stay. Patty set me up with a room right away, gave easily understandable instructions to everything around the hotel and how to get to our room. I make this trip frequently with my 1 year old son because he has to go to Shriners Children's Hospital. I will definitely recommend this hotel and will be staying here again in the future.

The hotel is in a very convenient location with a lovely indoor pool and decent rooms. The lobby area and the business center is also very convenient. The rooms were comfortable and clean; the amenities were good. The in house Gym and the restaurants were very useful. Must mention the excellent service by Gina, Muhammadh, Malek and Fasi in front office as well as Jen from the inhouse restaurant. They were always with a smile and very supportive.

This hotel was expensive…$859.16 for 3 nights. This rate doesn’t include breakfast.

To get the room cleaned or supplies(only 2 towels and one bar of soap provided- I guess the one in the soap in shower is supposed to be used at the sink too) for 3 nights, you had to sign up 24 hours in advance to get the room cleaned and restocked.

When we entered the room there was a dirty towel hanging on the bathroom door and a piece of toilet paper stuck on the wall above the bathroom door. The bathroom floor had not been washed as there was dirt caked on the floor.

The workout room had no sweat towels and the wipes used to wipe down the equipment was empty. This is not only gross but scary in a pandemic. We decided to walk outside instead. Picked this hotel since they showed a nice workout room. Didn’t realize cleaning wasn’t a thing.

On Sunday am there was either food spilled on the floor between two chairs in the lobby. We showed two of the hotel cleaning staff and the person behind the counter and then went for an hour walk outside. When we came back it was still there. We took a picture of it and showed the guy behind the counter again. It was finally cleaned up after telling people 4 times.

Since our bathroom wasn't cleaned when we arrived we signed up for a room cleaning. It appeared to be cleaned when we came back Sunday night but there was still dirt caked on the bathroom floor.

Not sure if the hotel was short staffed but if they are going to charge these rates the rooms need to be cleaned when people check in.

This is our 3rd and last stay at a various Holiday Inn property. Every one of them had poor cleaning policies in their work out room and poor maintenance.

Holiday Inn Skokie, Illinois
Wednesday, January 28th-Thursday, January 29th, 2022

I really do not know where to begin describing this awful experience. I should have read the previous reviews before booking a night there. I have been to many hotels and motels, high-end to budget and nothing, repeat nothing, even comes close to the awful experience we had. The hotel looks nice online and is laid out well. However, it did not take long for things to go downhill fast after checking in. The first red flag was a pizza crust left in front of our door. We should have turned around and left then, which would have been a wise decision. We entered the room and quickly discovered that though the beds were made (I hope with clean sheets), our room had not been vacuumed and who knows when the last time that room saw a vacuum cleaner. The counter featured a sticky mess and someone’s left over pizza cheese. It was as disgusting as it sounds. We also discovered a dark ring around the sink in the bathroom. Wait, though, it does not end there.

We wanted to swim in the very nice-looking pool, since we wanted to wind down after a long day. Well guess what? The pool was so cold that no human could even attempt to swim in it. To further our misery, we notified the hotel desk about towels and were told that they would take care of it. We did use the hot tub, which was not too cold, but the towels that were supposed to be plentiful by the pool never materialized. The front desk person gave us room towels after two times of insisting that there were not towels by the pool. Also, to add to the fun, other guests were arguing, slamming doors and taking phone calls in the hallway and talking loudly late at night. I do not blame the hotel for guests who have no consideration of others but it was one more thing on an already overwhelming list.

All in all, this entire experience was a nightmare. From all appearances, nobody at the hotel from the top on down is holding up their end of the bargain. If this is the case, then do not open rooms that border on revulsion. When you give out a free room to an IGH Rewards member, you are catering to someone who is a frequent customer. What sort of impression do you imagine that you made? I will never stay in this hotel again. A previous reviewer stated that a park bench would be more accommodating and this is not far from the truth. Sadly, we have reason to come that way at least a few times a year, so that is a nice little chunk of change that you lost through your indifference to your paying customers. If you do not have the staff to clean the rooms or to run the hotel, then you are better off not renting those rooms or having pools open that are freezing and lack the necessity of a towel. I hope that you take this review and the many, many others who have complained about your lack of basic service to heart. If not, I suspect that it will not be long before we drive by, on our way to a competitor, and you will be closed for good.

Rooms were unclean, broken shower curtain, nasty stains on walls, poorly vacuumed rooms. Service for extra towels was noted prior to checkin for 2 rooms took staff an 1.5 hours after the following day to retrieve it. I will never stay there again. Also noted the 2 ladies working the front counter were talking behind my back as if I didn’t understand them. Problem is lack of service and ignorant staff.

Never again. We stayed here for 2 nights and basically just used the hotel to sleep. We were out from after breakfast to after dinner. We arrived at about 10 pm on a Monday night and were planning on going to the hotel restaurant to grab a late dinner. According to the hotel website it is open until midnight. Wrong!!! It closed at 9 pm so we ended up going to bed without dinner. The hotel shop that sells snacks was also closed and there didn’t even appear to be any vending machines. Every other hotel I have ever stayed at that has a microwave in the room has some kind of food available 24 hours. Except this one.
The breakfast the next morning, which we had paid for in advance, was a buffet. Nothing great but it was decent. We expected the same the next morning. Wrong! No buffet this time. A plated breakfast with limited options for those who had paid in advance. A little consistency would have been nice.
The room was outdated but clean. No complaints there. We were told at checkin that there would be no housekeeping service but that we could get extra toiletries and towels at the desk. We had no problem with no housekeeping since we were only there for a short stay. We were surprised to discover when we returned to our room after our first day that housekeeping had entered the room and changed the towels. I would have preferred that this had not been done since we had left out items that we would have put away had we known the room would be entered. Nothing was taken, but still we had the expectation that no one would be entering.
My last issue with the hotel was that the hallways were freezing cold. We were cold even though we were wearing heavy coats. Had we chosen to use the indoor pool I can only imagine how uncomfortable we would have been in the hallways with wet bathing suits.
If we are in the area again we will be staying elsewhere.

For the most part the people that "worked" there were trying. But as with the whole nation they were overwhelmed. We didn't get to check in until one plus hours after check-in time. We had to argue our way out of higher that expected bar bill because I looked like some else that made a order. The room numbering system they use is unlike no other. Our room was nice, but the batteries on the thermostat were flashing low ,the stool didn't flush so i went to the front desk waited 20 minutes for someone to even show their face at the front desk.(How do you leave a front desk unoccupied that long?) I was told they would give me a plunger and if that didn't work tomorrow morning a technical person would look at it or we could then change rooms. I repaired the toilet myself because I'm a handyman. The next morning there is sheets and towels spread on the floors by the hotel entrance and the check-in desk. A REALLY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do yourself a favor and try to find another hotel! If not , be advised of the following :
While the public areas have been renovated , don’t be fooled !
The Halls have ancient dirty carpeting , where carts of dirty linen are left even at 7:00pm. Housekeeping is suspended due to covid, so U call the front desk which takes forever to answer the phone and u request EXACTLY how many towels u need.
We were here during the covid delta surge. Masks were supposed to be worn in common areas , however , many people did not wear masks - including one of staff member who was behind the desk and checked us out ! We did spot cleaning staff upstairs with masks around the neck! When we checked out the woman behind the desk did not even have her mask on.
The rooms are old . While they are supposedly cleaned , you do have to wonder how dirty the carpeting is —- bring your flip flops to wear in the room ! Wallpaper is old and peeling near the ceiling . We woke up every morning exceedingly congested . The room smelled horribly each time we walked in - while I would guess it was from disinfectant , it smelled like insecticide. Many people need this location , but proceed with caution . … I wish I had picked a different hotel. How this place can maintain the Hilton name is a wonder .

We enjoyed taking the train. It was a short drive to the train station from the hotel. You just need to make sure you return early enough to catch the last train. We didn't have to worry about trying to park downtown which can be expensive and challenging.
