TARA: Good Food & Company ======================= After a long train ride from Newcastle on the retro InterCity trains, I was really grateful to see Julian at Sydney Central, despite our really late arrival. Thanks for picking us up and introducing us to charming King's St on the way to TARA. I really enjoyed listening to Julian's extensive travel stories, as...

We wanted to begin our Australian trip in Sydney staying at somewhere 'interesting' and Tara certainly fitted the bill. The sight of Julian and his green jeep at the airport after a gruelling 23 hour flight was most welcome. The warm welcome continued on arrival at the house and continued throughout our 5 day stay. Brom and Julian guided us...

Spent the first two nights and the last two of a three week tour between Sydney and Brisbane, and couldn't have chosen a more comfortable and welcoming place to stay. I can only second all the positive comments other travellers have made, but also add that as a bit of a dietary 'pain-in-the-neck', I was treated to the same glorious...

My girlfriend and I stayed there for three nights. I really don't think we could have found a better place. Julian and Brom were unbelievably friendly and incredibly helpful. We really did feel like a part of their family instead of just travelers. The breakfast was amazing and was definitely food that I would have been happy to have in...

We stayed 4 nights with Brom and Julian and totally enjoyed the cozy rooms and the really delicious breakfast. The pick-up from the airport immediately let us feel at home. Whatever you want to know about places to go they can give you the best advices. We cannot imagine a better place to stay in Sydney. Daniela & Sebastian

This is truly a gem of a place. Julian and Brom are friendly, accommodating and very helpful. The breakfasts are amazing and the room I was in was extremely comfortable. Although not right in the center, it is very conveniently located, with good bus service and great restaurants close by. I was working in Sydney and this really felt like...

My daughter and I loved 'Tara'. It is well situated in a convenient , lively area. We took advantage of the excellent restaurants nearby. Not that we needed much sustenance! The breakfasts are supurb: healthy, generous, gourmet feasts prepared by Julian and Brom with attention to the finest detail. The rooms are comfortable, clean and beautifully furnished;each one unique and...

I have always included interesting small hotels, B & B's, a riad in Fez, paradors, pensions and even a bell tower on the Camino de Compostella in my travels and now I can add my two nights stay at Tara Guest House. The Gallery Room (I fondly renamed the Princess Room) was brilliantly appointed from the four poster bed, the...

Staying at Tara was an unexpected pleasure, it has so much charm and character. The glowing reviews tell it all however it’s hard to describe how wonderful it is to stay there until you arrive. The magnificent breakfasts have been spoken about at great length and are even better than we expected. The beds are incredibly comfortable with beautiful Egyptian...

It is not straightforward to review Tara. It can be viewed as great by some and uncomfortable by others, depending on what you as a traveler look for in a place you stay. For me, on the positive side: It is a beautiful house, restoration in progress. Interesting art on the walls interesting furnishings, some a little worn. the bed...

We sincerely thank these guests for taking the time to write this review. While very grateful for the positive comments, we also note the less flattering ones - we have taken on board misgivings and will address concerns wherever possible. After 3 years in operation, we have come to the conclusion that expectations are the most important issues that ultimately...
