Great place and amazing setting. They opened the place for my son and I. Served us a pot of coffee, a mixed salad with bread and cheese and to our surprise ... included a delicious crême brulé. It made our road trip from Cap-Pelé to the Confideration Bridge memorable.
Thank you.

I can only,in all honesty, leave a review for one room because thats all we experienced. We stayed 2 nights. The three of us stayed in the new annex across the foot bridge, the blue suite with the king bed and single bed. I love the inside of the building. Its very homey and has an upscale lodge feel to it. It was also very quiet. The two unpleasant things for us were, the bed was VERY firm BUT we have a preferance of soft beds. Also know that these are marshland/costal areas in the maritimes so the mosquitos are vicious. No walking or sitting around outside for us! WE RUN! Excluding those two things it was great stay. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Arrived at 5 pm knowing there would be no meal service available. The door was left open and a note left for us. Many portions of the main floor were locked off so had no access to ice, tea, cups, etc. Odd to arrive with no greeting, understand that always being available can be demanding but would have appreciated an email or text. Would have also appreciated ice, cups, kettle etc available for our evening. Our bed was fine but friends room had separate beds, despite request for a queen. Their beds had metal bars as described in other reviews! Showers but very small and dated.
In frustration I called Karen who agreed to drive back to work and get us ice and a kettle. Appreciated but felt badly to make the call. Breakfast was very nice ($16.50). Part of what we love about travel is the conversation with locals, missed that and other guests were in a separate building.

Hello, check in is at our Inn from 3-6 pm, after that timeframe we are having a self-check-in procedure. You arrived past 6 but we know people arriving at any time (some at midnight). Our reservation shows, that you booked the queenbed and the double bed room. We are providing the phone number exactly for the reason if guest need something, we will be there for our guest.

The Inn is located in a remote location far away from any amenities. We were not greeted by any host and given a room with three single beds that were very uncomfortable. We got in late and unfortunately had no kettle or toaster to make ourselves a tea. The inn was closed off to any access for extras. Unfortunately you had to pay for a breakfast which we thought was outrageous considering how much money we had to pay for one night stay. It’s a very outdated in. Bathrooms are very outdated. This is definitely a two star inn. I know that it is up for sale and therefore little effort is made to provide great service. Big disappointment.

My Husband and I had a wonderful experience at Little Shamogue Inn. We stayed at Log Point in room 7 and had a view of the water. After our delicious 4 course dinner made by Karen we got to enjoy a beautiful sunset by the water.
Karen is an excellent host and made us feel very welcome. The inn is very clean and comfortable and would highly recommend it!

This is a difficult review to write. As my headline suggests, this was a schizophrenic place.
We had one of the upper rooms in the annexe, which was large, comfortable and spotless-indeed it was excellent in every way.The only problem,as others have mentioned, were the mosquitoes, which attacked you as soon as you went outside, but to be fair,it was a very humid evening..
Now for the rest!!.Service-not good. The only staff we saw ,apart from an older woman helping to serve at dinner, and a washer up in the kitchen, was a young German girl whose English was not brilliant, but she was left to do virtually everything. She greeted us ,then took us across to the annexe, waited at dinner(including pouring the wine)and breakfast, and dealt with the account. She did her best, but where were the owners? They never appeared at all,and we were there from about 5pm until about 9.30am,and the inn was pretty full.
We were told that the husband had gone fishing, but we saw his party come back as we were leaving dinner around 9pm and he never looked in the next day.All the more surprising since his wife cannot have been there at all for reasons I shall explain.
Our travel company's Canadian agents described this as "the ultimate gourmet experience in New Brunswick"-well,it may have been ultimate but not in a good way.We were told dinner was by reservation only, which we did,and at 7pm with a set menu priced at $42(or about $55 with tax and service)-all of which was true.
Let me now describe the menu, which had no choices at all:
First course - broccoli soup.It may or may not have been home made, but it was ,well, just broccoli soup-pretty boring!
Second course was described as "mango sorbet".It was'nt a sorbet,it was manufactured mango ice cream.
Main course-pork tenderloin with carrots and potatoes. This consisted of a sort of pepper sauce on the plate on top of which were plonked in a pile four overcooked round slices of pork with plain and rather dry boiled carrots. The one thing that was OK were the potatoes.
Dessert was ice cream and strawberries.Again this second lot ot ice cream was clearly not home made ,although it was edible.
The wine was fine, but my point is that this was in no way a gourmet dinner, and the lady of the house, who is publicised as a brilliant cook cannot have been there that night and we should have been told. The price was grossly exorbitant for what we had,and where was the fish or shellfish in what is God's own country for it?
I have never written a report like this before, but interestingly several days later we met a couple in another hotel who had been there on the same night as us and we found that their opinion was the same as ours.
I hope for everyone else's sake that this was a one night aberration.

Dear pensioner39, we apologize that your stay on Thursday, September 12 was not what it should have been. If we didn't handle your stay well or if you felt you were treated poorly in any way, that was not our intention. But we can´t understand, why you make abusive remarks about our staff. We was at this time of your stay very busy. The most of our guests stay 2 or more nights and when they want, we organize and guide fishing trips or what ever. We apologize, that you doesn´t like our menu, other guests (also a chef from the Netherlands at the same night) saw it absolutely different, and we can´t serve every night fish or shellfish, the other guests love the variety. Please read the review "Just a perfect stay", these guests was at the same time our guests.

the host was very unfreindly and did not give us very much information upon showing us our room .dinner was at 7 and we were not informed it was a set menu no choices .there was 1 other couple there.when we declined wine as we dont drink he seemed annoyed that we ask.ed for milk we were brought 2 courses very tastless and he spent the entire time speaking german to the other couple making us very uncomfortabe very rude we thought. we walked out at that time and went back to our room. we declined breakfast .he actually had the nerve to charge us 79.00 for the disgusting meal plus 6.00 for the milk. he told us as we ordered it he had to throw it out that was were it belonged anyway. we were eaten alive by mosquitos outside so bad you couldnt sit out.the outdoor hottub was in an airless building full of flys and we were unable to use it.all over a terrible over priced inn avoid .. its not about your vacation its about what he wants to offer.

This is a beautiful spot. The food is wonderful.
But it doesn't matter how lovely a place is if the innkeepers aren't warm and inviting.
The German/New Brunswick owners are incredibly inhospitable.
RUDE. We have never experienced anything like it.
Perhaps they don't like people with Jewish names or perhaps they're just awful people.
To top it off, they charged us more money that they quoted when we made the reservation.
Please don't consider this place representative of the good people of New Brunswick.
Elsewhere in the province, everyone was very happy to receive our business. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place.

We hadn't booked in advance, so nothing closer to Moncton was available. That's OK, this place was LOVELY!! A little odd feeling as we pulled up to the main house - obvious renovations underway. We were guided to the other building and the interior decorator gets full points. Visually amazing. Practically we did have a few issues. 1) The WiFi password was not to be found anywhere IN the room. Since it was 10pm when we discovered this (late arrival, late dinner) we didn't feel right calling to ask. We did discover it the next day - too late to do us any good - framed in the hallway by the Living Room space. 2) The lighting in the bathroom was terrible at the sink/mirror for the a.m. getting ready habits. 3) No vanity around the sink, so no place to put personal belongings for the morning routines. 4) One long hair stuck to a bar of soap left on a ledge in the bath by a prior guest.
We would stay here again if we were in the area, and we'd probably opt for breakfast next time given how long it took us to find a decent breakfast after we left.

Dear Irishlazz, First of all, many thanks for your lovely praises. The Log Point's architecture and interior decoration is indeed something we are very proud of. We take all issues mentioned by our guests seriously and examine if they are justified and if so, can we make changes. Sometimes that is possible and sometimes not. For example, the mirror light is part of the decor, and no, there is no vanity but there is a chair in the bathroom which can be used for toiletries. Not acceptable under any circumstances is a left over soap bar for which we deeply apologize. If you had mentioned it to us before you left we may have been able to do something for you. It is always hard for us to learn about real issues after the guest has left. We depend on summer staff. Training which would be so much easier if the guest informed us personally. You wrote that you may come again - please acknowledge yourself when you do..... we are looking forward to providing you a delightful experience.

It was our 4th stay at Little Shemogue Inn and we are looking forward for our next trip.
Each time we had our room in the Logpoint. These rooms are spacious, comfortable and tastefully furnished. Janine and Marco are good hosts and they are working hard, to satisfy their guests. Reading the negative reviews, sometimes a cultural misunderstanding might be the reason. Germans argue in a direct way, Canadians prefer a more polite and allusive language. But in the end both mean it positive.
We found two - in our view minor - points of criticism: The mosquitoes and the breakfast. The mosquitoes are a consequence of our travel time and the wonderful location. Breakfast is continental style and adequate. But the every day precise counted slices of ham and cheese are a little bit disruptive to the over-all very positive impression.
Janine and Marco: We wish you all the best and hope to see you again soon.

Dear Petzi_T, Thanks so much for your kind comments - it was a pleasure to have you as a repeating guest. As you have been here several times it is important to us that you understand our food policy: We do apportion amounts of breakfast items per guest....but only to prevent waste. All unconsumed food once served to a table, needs to be thrown away!! due to health regulations. We are happy to provide more of anything on request. We serve a full breakfast with fruit salad, different breads, two eggs of your choice, 3-4 slices of bacon (traditional for a North American breakfast), three different jams/honey, a slice of cheese plus cream cheese or babybel, coffee/tea/milk. However, we are flexible in the preference of our guests, some do not want any bacon, some like more cheese - simply let us know when you come the next time. It will be a pleasure to serve you.
