Quiet beachfront resort near East Africa’s only wildlife sanctuary on the Indian Ocean. The Vagabond Lodge is located 1 km north of Mkwaja in the district of Pangani, Tanga Region; approximately 2 km from the borders of Saadani National Park and 12 km from the park entrance gate. Being located so near to the park, Vagabond guests can soon find themselves off the beach and, in minutes, walking in the midst of wildlife in the reserve’s Zaraninge forest or leisurely driving around the park's expansive tall grass savannas. Unlike the accommodation options inside the park it is not necessary to pay the park fees when not on safari days. Our resort can accommodate all budgets. Karibuni!

The rooms are clean but the shower water is salty and yellow-brown. The hotel itself is nice and has a garden and restaurant. The beach in front of it has rubbish; it is ok to sit at and relax but not a good place for swimming. The village of Mkwaja is close but not very easily

The main building is an architectural beaty build around a huge baobab, which stem extends to the roof lounge as a giant umbrella to shield against the sun and provide an intimacy to these old majestic creatures, which is unique. The rest of the place is likewise as charming in

We spent five nights with the entire framily at Vagabond lodge. This is a great place to hang out, relax and enjoy the peace, quietness and also the remoteness of this place. At low tide, you can make long walks on the beach, swim in clear water at high tide, and of course do
