I only stay at Marriott-branded hotels and travel all over the world in them. My initial experience was with a female staff member before checkin time whom I asked if I could check in early and she essentially said “no check-in is at 3pm” which is very true but unlike any other Marriott hotel I’ve ever stayed at. They usually always try to work with your schedule if possible and take down a number and call you but not this one. It was very odd and she seemed to have a lot of attitude in her tone. At this point I decided I would never stay here again and try the JW. But, I came back after 3pm and the manager was the front desk person at this point (not the previous girl) and they still didn’t have a room ready—after checkin! But, she made it right and upgraded my room and took care of my parking which I think was very nice & fair. Her response made me less irritated than the morning front desk girl. Still, I can say I’ve never had any issues checking in early at a Marriott before even when they were sold out the previous night and even during Covid, let alone after checkin time. Not sure what issues they were having but once I checked in everything was good. Room was clean though a bit beat up in the kitchen area & the hot breakfast was nice. There are animals everywhere though so be prepared if you don’t like that. I do want to say in reference to other reviews here that you can enter and exit the canal right from inside the hotel with a room key. Im not sure how the other reviewers had issues requiring them to walk up embankments and such because we went in/out the door right onto the canal walkway.

Second time I have stayed here. Can't say I really like it or don't like it. Location is good, staff decent, and rooms are okay but during summer was very hot. AC wasn't great at all. Pool was closed (cmon, enough with the Covid excuses). Biggest issue is the 30 dollar parking fee! No way to justify it except as another means to gouge the customer. There is no working gate to enter or exit parking lot...so anyone can essentially park in the parking lot and nary say a word. No security to justify the price either as anyone can simply walk through the lot. Again... many pluses to this hotel, but there some downsides to it.

We appreciate the feedback, JSG1996. While we're happy you appreciated our prime location and friendly staff, it's unfortunate our accommodations and parking situation didn't meet your expectations. We regret your challenges and inconvenience so we'll address your concerns with our team moving forward. We do hope you give us another opportunity to share a more positive experience with you soon.

Great place and great people. The staff at the front desk were super helpful and nice. Very accommodating! The canal is absolutely stunning and it’s worth staying here just for that. We took several walks up and down the canal to enjoy the view.

Spent our anniversary weekend (June 3 weekend). Got a one bedroom canal view room. Everything was pretty good. The negatives is the pool is still closed due to Covid. Also it would be nice if there was more non sugary cereals for breakfast. The pet price is really huge. I guess that is a Marriott thing. We walked to many things there. Bed was good. Would return. Thirty dollars a day to park in parking lot.

Nice staff. Renovated reception area of no use during COVID 19 pandemic. Rooms are typical Residence appearance but this place needs updating. Canal was nice - good option for walking but reportedly unsafe after dark (from my local friends not Marriott staff). Nearby Kroger was very usefull. $25/night parking was not clearly reported on website during my booking. Staff says it is on the app....
