Just a bit over 1.5 hrs from Chicago. It was awesome. I never knew there were houseboat/cabins for rent so close. Very affordable. Good size room and huge bath. The deck was a big plus. The fit was perfect for us and our 3 year old. He loved it and the idea of sleeping on a boat. He was even...

After a one night stay for a volunteer project at the nearby Share Foundation, I know I will be back to enjoy all that this interesting property has to offer. Not far from the exit ( about 7 min.) off the main highway, and with easy access from Pine Road, this is a perfect spot for those traveling in the...

I love this place! My room had a balcony overlooking a small lake. The room itself was well furnished, clean and very comfortable. The restaurant at this place is excellent. I had a trout dish that was out of this world. Nice breakfast buffet.

We were caught in a Valentine's Day blizzard in LaPorte, and all hotels were fully booked. The staff at the Blue Heron were real heroes and called all of their reserved guests who had not arrived and found space for the stranded travelers. The staff were amazing and kind, and the inn is lovely and perfectly amenable. Wish we could...

The Blue Heron Inn is a very nice place to go for a great little getaway. Prices are very reasonable and we loved taking the pontoon out on the lake. Fishing was pretty good as well from boat and by the docks. The room was very clean and comfortable. Definitely recommend this for a nice place to relax.

We were headed West on the Indiana Toll Road when overcome by thunderstorms. On check-in, the desk was unattended because the clerk was in our room starting the fireplace in order that it would be toasty warm. Dinner at their restaurant surpassed all expectations. A lakeside glass of wine watching a beautiful sunset capped the evening.

I had not been to LaPorte until I went there on business in September. I was staying in a hotel by the tollway and happened to have dinner at TBones Pier 11, right next to the Inn. I was fascinated by the little houseboat rooms that float on the lake and my server said, "stop in the Inn and Brigette...

We loved the location. The staff were all friendly. We arrived and the lady at the desk, took us on the tour of the hotel. “Avoid floating cabins if you don't like musty or the 80s. Not as much movement as I thought there would be.”
  • 80s decor in the cabins, no hot water to shower. Handicap bench in corner?
  • Lots of turtles liked to visit our deck. They like Cheetos.
  • VHS VCR, NO WAY!!! Glad I didn't come to watch the TV.
  • Inside the cabin to view (my blanket on the bed, removed comforter)
  • Couch has seen better days, as well as everything in the cabin.
  • View/weathered deck.
  • View from cabin deck to one side- the restaurant, filled with people when it's opened.
  • View from the deck of our cabin. A lot more lake to left but sunset visible here.
