We where 6 person coming to Lofoten to experience Skreifisket (cod fishing). We stayed 4 nights at Hemmingodden in Ballastad. As the other reviews I would like to say that the service is great at this lodge. The host did a great job in making this a great stay! He was very helpful recommending places to visit, guided us on a boat tour to Nusfjord and helped with organizing rental car. We also hired boat from Hemmingodden and went fishing. The boats are nice and robust, and the lodge has good facilities for filleting. We where served fresh cod upon our arrival. Really recommended! This was a great meal!

I recently stayed at the Hemingodden Fishing Lodge in Ballstad for 2 nights, and I can highly recommend this accomodation out of many different reasons. The rooms/apartments were big, newly renovated and probably only a couple of months old, with state of the art technology in the kitchen. What was even better, was that this Rorbuer turned out to be so much more than just your average nights stay. The reason for this is the host of the lodge, who is out of this world friendly, welcoming and definitely writes HOSPITALITY in bolt letters. I travel a lot, and I‘ve been to many places in the last years, staying at countless hotels, but it is only so often that you come across a host like in this place, who will make your stay a pure pleasure. He provided us with great breakfast and typical norwegian dinner, and even took the boat to go out fishing with us in the Atlantic Sea for 2,5h in the morning. To put it in a nutshell, if I could only recommend one stay on the Lofoten Islands, it would be this one. 5/5 no doubt about it!

Relaxed, homely lodge. Anna offered a cod caught fresh. We accepted. She recommended poaching. I’m from a fishing town in Ireland. Best cod I ever tasted! First night poached in water with onion. Second night in milk with leeks - magnificent. Located in functional fishing harbour which made me feel at home. Great base to explore Northern beaches. Recommended.

I spent 4 nights at this wonderful lodge in peaceful Ballstad. It is situated just by the fjord, overviewing fantastic mountains emerging directly from the sea. The lodge is situated in the centre of the village and it has all the facilities you need. Staying there I had a feeling of being in an authentic Lofoten lodge, not just another place made up for mass tourism. I even spotted the northern lights on 2 nights by the entrance to the lodge. The hosts from the lodge were very, helpful, friendly and kind. The owner, Harald is a fisherman and can organize fishing trips. Anna, the hostess simply made me feel home. They even drove me back to Leknes since there was no bus on Sunday. This quality of service is not often to be found in Norway. I highly recommend!
