My husband and I arrived at the Solsiden brygge around 4:45pm. It was difficult to find reception at first, we later found signs and figured out that they were saying "reception" in Norwegian. The reception faces the water. There is very easy parking as well. We had a great first impression of room. We were in Room #6 on the 2nd floor above the restaurant. There are other types of rooms on the property as well. Our rooms was fantastic, good size, extremely comfortable bed, electric blackout shades, small pantry that includes a sink, dishwasher, small refrigerator and some dishes/silverware. There was also a good amount of storage space. The room had a juliet balcony with a great views as well. The bathroom even had dual shower heads. I do have a few complaints on the room design, which include the following: • I wish there was a trashcan in the main room and not just a tiny one in the bathroom • There isn't an electronic key fob for the entry door, instead there is an annoyingly large key • There is no counter space in the bathroom (it's one large sink that splashes you if your not careful) or a place to put anything in the shower • Keep in mind some rooms are on the 2nd floor with no elevator. My husband had to lug our very heavy luggage up a flight of stairs. Breakfast is included in the stay, it's buffet style 9am to 11am. There was a good variety of options. We had dinner at the hotel the first night. It's a limited menu, but has good food with a nice and cozy atmosphere. It is expensive like the rest of Norway. Had an incident with the showers, tried showering in the evening after a long day of hiking. Unfortunately, both drains to the dual shower heads were clogged and water quickly flooded into both the bathroom and main room. It was a big mess and happened quickly. We cleaned up most of it and alerted the hotel staff. Since it was the evening they said they would have someone come fix it the next day. The issue was fixed, but annoying for sure. Staff was very friendly and tried to address the issue quickly. Another thing to note is the hotel reception hours. We were surprised that they are not open in the mornings. I think they open either at 11 or noon. We didn't actually realize it until we were trying to check out around 8:30am. We weren't sure what to do, but there was a large mailbox near the front door, so we left the ket in the box. We did enjoy our stay overall and would love to return someday.

Hotel is located in Ballstad which you might need google map to guide you there. It might take many turns until you find hotel. Hotel lobby is at the back of the building which is quite hard to located. We need to change the parking area in order to reach our room. There is a fence which divide from the accommodation and lobby/breakfast room. Worst thing happened when we found over 100cm scratch at the back right door of our rental car after we unload our baggage and put into the room. There is no security camera in that area, so no need to inform the hotel. I could not find the one who did this anyway. I could not recall the room number but the category we booked is called "1 apartment". Light system in the room is very poor. We hardly see anything in the room wihtout opening the curtain. The only good thing at this hotel might be the stunning view in front of our room. I would recommend other villages to stay rather than here. It is not worth for what we pay.

After 2 months, I'm still waiting for the promised refund of 790NOK after my stay in the hotel in may 2019. They don't answer to the emails, facebook and instagram neither. They promised us to refund us as possible... after 2 months... NOTHING. A big company they say! Breakfeast... First Night... OK everything was correct, then each day less and less food for us... What a bad bad experience.

Especially if you book one of the suites at the main building. A local restaustaurant is in the same building. The breakfast is good but starts at 9am which may be to late for many travelers. Parking is free. Recommended.
