Now Muggee's Place this site was formerly( 20 years ago ?) Causeway Motel and Lounge but the new operator has revamped the units and they are clean and tastefully furnished. We found the queen size bed and bedding very comfortable and there wasn't noticeable road noise altho the rooms are close to the highway. The restaurant served very good and reasonably priced meals
My wife said her fish cakes and baked beans were both homemade and my fish and fries were tasty too. We had been looking for a place to stay close to the provincial historic site of the Boyd's Cove Beothuk encampment and Muggie's fit the bill and exceeded our expectations in many ways.

We selected this place because we did not want to have a long drive from Twillingate all the way to Cows Head following our stay in this area. Boyd’s Cove shortened that drive by almost an hour and gave us the chance to visit the Beothuk Interpretation Center for their Voices on the Wind event. Muggees is a basic motel right on the road with an adjacent restaurant and bar. The latter is a real locals place with very good soup and apple pie to die for; you could tell the food was good by how popular the place was on Sunday afternoon. We had unit 10 at the end of building which was one of the refurnished units and had a king size bed. I would question some of the furnishing choices as there was a very large dresser but no bed side table on one side of the bed. Rather than have convenient kettle and mini-fridge, there was a fake fireplace—I’d much rather have had the former. We had a small deck overlooking the cove and awoke on our first morning to wonderful calls of a loon. However, you will get some traffic noise as well. The bathroom was very nice but there were no racks to hang up your towels. The television provided a wide selection of channels. Be aware that for some reason they require a $100 security deposit upon check-in; but then you will receive a credit back to your card after check-out. They staff were all very nice.

This place (formerly known as The Causeway) turned into a perfect home away from home. We chose it mainly for the location as it enabled us to visit both Twillingate and Fogo Island before heading south east, all without moving base.
We wanted a room with one bed and when we arrived, they had room eight available but eight and ten free the next night. After seeing room ten, we decided to stay an extra night. Room eight was good, spacious, good bathroom, internet and satellite tv despite the fact that the tv seemed to be out of the ark. The flowery décor wasn’t to my taste but was clean and in good condition. Room ten however was a real gem. Beautifully furnished with a king size bed, good linens and pillows, modern tv and a couple of lovely big armchairs and a coffee table, perfect for relaxing after a long day.
Be aware that unlike most motels there are no fridges or coffee machines in any of the rooms but there are drinking glasses provided and the restaurant freely provides ice as required. All of the rooms have balconies with a great view. The staff couldn’t be nicer or more helpful, so all in all, highly recommended.

Our trip started out great. Room was very nice and clean. However, there is no means to heat up any food in your room. No microwave or kettle. The first night the temperature in the room was extremely hot...it was reading 88.9 degrees....with only one small fan in the room it was impossible to cool down. When we returned back to our room the second evening, the toilet would not flush. We are the only ones at the motel and there was nobody working on the desk. We had to look up a phone number online and call the owner at 9 at night with our cell phone as there was no phone in the room. The owner showed up within a half an hour with a plunger. To no avail, she offered to switch us to another room. When she checked the rooms on either side of the one we were staying in, they both had the same problem. Toilets wouldnt flush. The owner agreed that this was unacceptable, so she offered our family free breakfast in the morning when the attached restaurant opened at 11am. We declined as we were checking out that morning and could not stay any longer in a place where we couldnt even flush the toilet. Nothing else was offered. Total disappointment!

For a place with no website and no answering machine, AND who don't answer their phone, they make it very hard to advise them of a cancelation. We had mechanical problems and could not make our reservation. Unfortunately we were unable to reach them due to the factors mentioned above. When we FINALLY were able to reach them, they had NO compassion, no understanding and told us we would be charged regardless. And sure enough, without getting within 600 kilometers of the place because of major mechanical problems with our vehicle, the charge went through on my card. Maybe put up a website or at the VERY least, get an answering machine. So, thanks for nothing. Everything about Newfoundland was wonderful. You guys, not so much...

This is a basic motel but a great stop if you’re planning a trip to Fogo or Twillingate. Rooms are big and deck is nice overlooking the water. Only one issue... we had no hot water. Wasn’t a big deal as we were only there less than 12 hours. I would’ve had it checked into if staying longer. Would recommend.

This is not a fancy place, but the rooms are big, the staff very helpful and the view unbelievable. We had so much space it was wonderful and the bed's were comfortable. There is no air conditioning but the fan was very effective. The deck on the back of the room had such a fabulous view that we couldn't ask for a better spot. The sunsets were wonderful too. There is a simple but good restaurant attached and the location is reasonable to a number of areas of interest. We enjoyed being in a quieter area versus the town of Twillingate.

This is a very nice motel very well situated. Very clean, large room with a huge, comfortable bed. Even had an electric fireplace which was a nice touch. Specially if you are there in cooler weather. Lovely deck out your back door overlooking the water. Too bad it was raining or we would have sat out there with our morning coffee. The restaurant offered a very good breakfast.

We booked this on our way here today and we can’t believe what a gem it is! This is the cleanest, most comfortable and beautifully renovated room we’ve seen this trip. Anyone who needs a place to stay before going over to Fogo Island should definitely consider this place!

Stayed here a month or so back. From memory the Interpretation Centre is just down the road past the junction where you turn off for the Fogo ferry. Maybe 3 - 5 kms. We checked out a few rooms but didn't see any with 3 singles. Two doubles was the most we saw.
