We stayed here for our 37th wedding anniversary. Everything was perfect! Staff were efficient and the ocean front villa we stayed in was perfect. Bed was so comfortable, we turned off the heat, closed the bedroom door and opened the patio door for sleeping. Listened to the ocean sounds lull us to sleep. It was a cool night so the extra blankets kept us warm. There was everything you needed in the kitchen for preparing meals if you chose. The gourmet coffee provided was delicious. As it was our Anniversary, there was a bottle of Nova Scotia white wine chilling in the refrigerator for us on arrival. We sipped on this after a long walk on the adjacent beach with the crackling electrical fireplace for atmosphere. We read the reviews on the restaurant before coming and we were a bit worried, but there was no need to be. Our meals were some of the best we've had in a long time. Quality ingredients, really well cooked and presented. On the first night I had the salmon with blueberry sauce and my husband had the haddock with the beet puree. As good as they were, the calamari appetizer was the best we ever had. Lots to share! The fish and chips on the second night was delicious, lightly breaded and fresh fish. The wait staff were very efficient, if an area got busy, bar staff and other wait staff stepped in at the tables to ensure great service. Our waiters were Cress and Sean and they really made our meals special. Highly recommend this place for a special getaway.…
There’s a separate listing for the restaurant. This review is for the hotel. We stayed in the brand new lofts located at the back of the property. The rooms were spacious & nicely decorated. Had just about everything you’d need including a mini fridge, coffee maker (and tea bags!), but no fire place. Bed was on the firm side. There are lots of plugs for devices but scattered around the room. Not much counter space in the bathroom. Biggest issue was that it very warm out and try as we did, we couldn’t get the A/C working. Should have called the front desk. I got a call within minutes of booking and at first I thought it was an up selling call, which kind of ticked me off. They said how it was a 7 minute walk to the restaurant and how nice it was at the (much pricier) villas. But after being there, I think it was a genuine effort to make sure I was aware of what I was booking. They certainly do have a lot of different types of rooms and buildings. These lofts are in a 4 story building. We were on the top floor so it was 2 flights of stairs up and down with our luggage. It is a short walk down to the rec centre (which is closed), the small outdoor pool/jet tub, office and other loft building. Outdoor pool was open but we would have had to book before we got there. It’s a further couple minutes to the restaurant and beachside villas. You do have to walk along a narrow highway to get to the restaurant and they don’t seem to have enough parking because there are cars all along the highway that force you into the road. You get a view of the beach, albeit a distant view. They rooms have a nice balcony with a couple of chairs. It is a bit of a steep hill to get to the lofts we stayed in. Not a problem for us but I don’t know if I’d want to be pushing a stroller or wheelchair up the hill. Summerville Beach is right there and is beautiful. The rec centre is very tiny with the smallest pool I’ve ever seen at a hotel. Only a couple pieces of equipment in the exercise room. Room was very clean and front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The office where you check in is a separate building right along the highway. There is a small gift shop and selection of snacks. …
Our adult family needed a break from 2020, and all the stress that is going along with it. We just got back from 2 nights in a 2 bedroom villa and it was nothing but perfection. The staff from the front office to the ladies delivering cookies were so friendly. The Grill was so delicious. We were planning our next meal before we finished the first one! The staff there was wonderful as well. The Villa was clean and modern. The beach, fantastic! Heck, even the weather cooperated! Don’t change a thing!
We decided to get away for a couple days and went to the quaterdeck and stayed in there Lofts. They were beautiful rooms with an amazing view of the beach. We had reservations at the quaterdeck grill that evening for 5 of us at 5 o'clock. There were only 4 other tables there before us. It took about 25 mins for our apps to arrive which was fine. Then our mains took another 30 mins. My wife's 10 oz steak was at best 7 oz and was cold along with her potato and veg all cold. The only thing hot on her plate was the sauce. I ordered the penne alfredo whith seafood. Well that had zero cream in it was about an inch of oil in the bottom of the bowl. For $27 dish I was not eating or paying for food that was not made correctly. I just got up and left with total discust and still hungry. The next night I ordered take out a burger and club. Well the burger was decent but not seasoned the club was on a sub bun all cold. Once again disappointment. I do not recommend this place to eat until they can start making the food correctly. The chef chris Ferguson needs to learn how to cook properly and teach his staff how too as well.…
