A stay at this hotel has been on my to-do-list for some time, as the owner's book and vinyl record collection is well documented. Nothing could, however, have prepared us for the scale of his collection or the fantastic hospitality Anthony offers his guests. Rooms are basic but very clean, and both dinner and breakfast was great - and extremely...

We stayed overnight en-route to the cape. It was a great experience. Tony was very helpful and friendly, he really makes the experience. The rooms and large and clean. Nothing fancy. We were treated to a music show by Benjamin Fourie, a world class pianist who used to play in Europe.

Wonderful overnight stay at this charming country hotel filled with thousands of books and LP records. We were treated like royalty with excellent food and service. The trip around the dorp and to the Anglo-Boer War Concentration Camp Monument was very special. What a unique and special place.

If you are looking for a normal modern 5-stars rating than it is a rating that we cannot give. No luxurious room but very clean, a nice bed and all what you need to enjoy a stay in a hotel. But we can give an excellent 4 Stars rating because the Hotel brought us back to the old times.Never before...

No signage out side to be sure you are at the hotel Pleasant owner quick to help and like to tell stories about the book and LP's collections. Food was not bad but surely not the reason to visit. Rooms are nice clean with necessary heating items...needed. Worth a visit and nice sleepover

It's not just the books or the records, which are guaranteed to keep you interested for hours. The owner, Anthony, is a master raconteur and avid historian. His stories sweep the dust off the houses and bring people back to life. he also has a deep sensitivity to the tragedies that were suffered here, especially in relation to the concentration...

The hotel decoration has been talked about a lot, every wall covered in books or vinyl, obviously makes this a very different hotel. But, most important, the owner, Tony Hocking, do not treat you as a paying guest, but rather as a friend and house guest. You almost feel you have to offer to help with the dishes after every...

Was recommended to me by a friend. Unmarked hotel so we struggled a little to find it. Beautiful old hotel. Walls are covered in books and a dining room that has its walls covered in vynils. Taught my 13 year old how to handle the records and turntable. He was enthralled. Host Tony took us out on an historic tour...

A large room, huge, comfortable bed, electric blanket, wall heater, kettle. Piping hot water in the shower. Simple but delicious and well presented food. A highlight and the purpose of our visit was to be guided by Anthony Hocking to learn about the history of events in Bethulie and surrounding areas during the Anglo Boer War. Very informative and entertaining.
