Just got back from a long weekend at the Richards House. What a gem in Dubuque!! The house is in amazing condition and our room was full of wonderful furniture and antiques. Michelle does a fantastic breakfast every morning and is ready to accommodate any diet needs. We loved all the personal touches and recommendations from her over our coffee...

Michelle and David are excellent innkeepers with a passion for their home. I have stayed at The Richards House seven times over the past 12 years. It is a worthwhile destination unto itself for lovers of Victorian architecture, working fireplaces and stained glass windows. Almost every room offers a fireplace of marble or handmade tiles. The 90 stained glass windows...

As many have noted, you must look beyond the exterior to give this beautiful house a chance. It is truly like taking a step back in time, with an amazing collection of antiques and remarkably detailed original woodwork and other trim. We were surprised by the generous extras: a huge collection of dvds, free soda, pastries, popcorn and wine. The...

We are sorry your children didn't like their room. That room was used by a long term stay for over a year just before your stay. He had several Glade PlugInns in his room the entire time (put fresh ones in as necessary) he was there. The room smelled strongly of the Glade, not cat urine. We ask all our...

This is a beautiful house. The food was amazing. There were lots of extras like tea, popcorn, wine, homemade cakes, etc. For the price I felt this was a good deal. The downside is it does need some work, which I am sure will come with time. Our room the bathroom paint was peeling off and the shower/Tub sprayer which...

Very unique house that is filled with stained glass windows, beautiful chandeliers, and lots of antiques. Very tasty breakfasts and excellent coffee cakes. Very enjoyable! Still a work in process but still enjoyable!

This was our first time ever staying at a bed and breakfast. When searching the internet for B&Bs within 3 hours of travel we discovered The Richards House. My husband and I enjoy antiques and old houses and the pictures on the internet intriqued us. So glad we booked the weekend! We chose the Library Suite...loved the claw foot soaker...

I have stayed at many other B&B's over the years... this was by far the nicest. The furnishings and comfort of the interior were second to none we stayed on the first floor and watching the beatiful light shine on the book lined shelves through panes of stained glass was priceless. In addition, proprietors Michelle and David were really nice,...

Staying at this B & B is like a step back in time. Some will find fault because everything may not meet their expectations. It's strength may be that little remodeling has been done inside. The woodwork, tiled fireplaces, stained glass and furniture are beautiful. We relaxed and enjoyed the atmosphere. The breakfasts were tasty and huge with the warm...

This place is in a quite neighborhood. Literally a 5-10 minute walk from downtown, the casinos, and fancy restaurants. (20min to Galena) The outside is in the midst of getting painted but Walk back in time when you enter this place. Its totally decorated in antiques from the time period! My husband and I stayed in the Library Suite-this was...

I have stayed at the Richards House off and on from May 2012 to july 2012 and will try to come back in the fall for a vacation. The hospitality was excellent and the work in progress does take time but the personablity of the Richard's house compared to a motel or hotel is great. Hotels and motels are very...
