We adored this hotel from top to bottom. It has been restored exquisitely with great attention to detail. There were design features around every corner that caught our eye. The staff, from housekeeping to management, were welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the property and surrounding area. Our room was spacious and lovely. Even though the furnishings were comfortable and modern,...

Restored to all of it's glory, the Historic Park Inn is a fabulous place to stay and see a true Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece. Great location, wonderful people. Don't forget to get a tour of the hotel by staff and make certain to go to the bar in the lower level for a drink and some conversation.

This is the only remaining Frank Lloyd Wright hotel. After extensive renovation, it is well worth a short detour off I-35. The windows, light fixtures, and furniture all have the FLW touch. If you don't plan to spend the night in Mason city, come for the restaurant (1910 Grille).

We loved the gorgeous details in the design of this hotel. The special rooms, from the Ladies Parlor to the Wine Room to the Law Library made walking to anywhere in the hotel an adventure. The one quirky element that was a challenge is that some of the ceilings and doorways are very low. My 6'5" husband and son had...

My stay here was beyond stellar. Luckily I was able to cancel at another local hotel to stay at this gem. Absolutely beautiful, the renovation provides modern day amenities with the authenticity of an old hotel. When I come back to Mason city there will be no other hotel I stay at. The extended queen was wonderful space for one...

This hotel is beautiful from the outside to the inside. If you like FLWright designed architecture you need to stay here. From the lobby and lounge area through the hallways and into your room it's authentic and interesting. There is parking alongside the building which is very convenient. Our room had a king size bed. While not a large room...

We chose this hotel for our wedding anniversary get-away, and were not disappointed. As admirers of Frank Lloyd Wright's work, it was great to finally be in a building where we were no longer behind a velvet rope, now able to actually sit in those uncomfortable-looking chairs and judge for ourselves. The entire hotel is just a delight to look...

We are a family with deep roots in Mason City and traveled from many places to celebrate our Mother's 80th Birthday. The hotel and catering staff did a superlative job on all elements: envisioning how to best use each unique space for each part of our celebration, working with the chef to provide a beautiful meal using the 1910 Restaurant...

An amazing Frank Lloyd Wright hotel on the square in the middle of Music City. The hotel is gorgeous. Take the time to walk through and view the extra spaces. There is a study and game room. A veranda upstairs looks out over the square. While in Mason City visit the Stockman House, a FLW home in the area open...

As a lifelong Midwesterner, I've always been fascinated with the few structures remaining that were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. If you know anything about his emphasis on simple geometry and horizontal lines in his architecture, you'll love this hotel. And yes, it is "historic," so don't be surprised if the floors "creak" a bit as you walk -- I...

Hello Bill W! We are so happy to hear that as a 'lifelong Midwesterner' you found a nice little gem in the heart of Mason City. We are happy to hear that you enjoy the architecture and amenities as much as we enjoy providing them for our guests. The grille and lounge are also a great staple of our community....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Historic Park Inn Hotel, together with City National Bank, of Mason City Iowa were designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright as a dual purpose building and completed in 1910. The design greatly influenced architecture in Europe and is as striking today as it ever was. The Park Inn Hotel is the last Wright designed hotel in the world, and has undergone a nearly 20 million renovation; the restoration of the distinctive brick and terra-cotta façade as well as art glass windows has restored the Prairie School building to a functional hotel. The interior, while renovated into a contemporary hotel, has public areas and guest rooms restored as closely to Wright's design as possible. Art glass and much else designed by Wright remains. Public area furnishings are period-style and include reproduction Robie House Lights, reproductions of the Mercury statues Richard Bock and Wright designed for the bank, and reproductions of the barrel chairs Wright designed for the bank directors' room. We invite you to come and stay with us in the center of the many area attractions Mason City has to offer. ... more   less
