La Maison Troisgros offers a truly unique experience: The hotel as well as the Restaurant offer not only impeccable services, but rather a long lasting experience. The hotel is situated in a peaceful rural setting, allowing slowing down and finding the inner peace. Rooms are spacious and reflect perfect taste. The Restaurant impresses by its architecture and open views into the meadows. César Troisgros and the entire kitchen crew combine innovative and surprising cooking methods with natural and healthy style. The service crew is very kind and - of course - professional. In brief: Heaven!

Troisgros has fifteen bedrooms to go with the famous three-star Michelin restaurant on the property. There are two converted farmhouses with extensive grounds and gardens. I had a brief one night stay here in June 2019 in room 42. Fans of Douglas Adams will recognise 42 as the answer to the question of life, universe and everything. The room here may not quite be the answer to everything, but it was certainly very large, with a big comfortable bed and large bathroom. There was also a shared lounge at ground level with a further set of seats in the garden. As a nice touch there was complimentary coffee available in the lounge. The only slight surprise was that there was not a walk in shower, but a bath with a shower hose - the rooms here are huge, so there was surely ample room for a proper shower. WiFi was blazing fast. I measured it at 89 Mbps download and 101 Mbps upload, which is extremely quick by any standard. The only quibble was that in 2019 it is surely unnecessary to log in with a password, especially when the WiFi periodically disconnects and requires repeat authentication to get back in. If major hotel chains like Marriott have concluded that there is no benefit in WiFi logon credentials, as they have, then no one else has an excuse for still putting customers through this pointless rigmarole. Breakfast was excellent, with high quality croissants, good fruit juice and a selection of cheese, ham and pastries. The plentiful staff were excellent, helpful and all speaking good English.

My husband and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at Troisgros' ans we had many lovely attentions from the staff and from Mrs Troisgros. We stayed in room 50 which is so elegantly decorated with a modernist bathroom. Guests have access to a reading room, a bar and a living room where you feel at home. Hot drinks and snacks are at disposal meaning that you can come and go as you please. You can go outside around the hotel and have a sit in different settings or go in the park for a walk around a pond where little boats are available for a tour. Breakfast was divine. Ambiance is so cosy and quiet. We found what we were looking for and even more. We hab dinner at the three star restaurant for a full experience. Warmly advised!!!

This was our first visit to the Troisgros since the move to Ouche. We have enjoyed many great stays and meals in Roanne over the last 30 years. The reception was warm and welcoming. The top-end room was “cool”. Large, high ceilinged, pale wood floors, palest of cream walls. It is probably great to arrive on a hot summer’s day but not welcoming, as we did, on a cold, wet December night. A warm coloured carpet or two would have made a big difference. Also we don’t like the modern style of replacing wardrobes with open racks and shelves for clothes. Next morning we opened the curtains to a great view over the estate to the hills in the distance. The rain shower was the biggest I’ve ever seen and simple to operate. But because the lights in the room all plug into wall sockets, turning off the master switch turns them all off, so my smartphone and watch did not charge overnight. You have to plug them in to a socket in the bathroom – but nobody told us. The wifi was very poor too. The restaurant is beautiful, particularly in the daytime. On a winter’s night it is a bit dark and solemn. So to the food. The 9 course seasonal tasting menu was intellectually interesting rather than joyous, though the deeply flavoured tomato consommé with a fairly ordinary fillet of red mullet was gorgeous, as was the deep and unctuous source with perfectly cooked venison. The 4 course lunchtime tasting menu was a revelation however. The clams surrounded by pasta curves and served with a clementine gele were fantastic and were followed by the most perfectly cooked foie gras I have ever had, with another intense sauce. The pigeon in a cassis sauce was also perfect. Dinner was a la carte. Most memorable – indeed unforgettable - was the dessert- trois oeufs a la coque. Chocolate eggs like you can’t imagine. The chocolatier is a young genius The wine list is extensive and not overpriced – at least for a restaurant of this class. Staff were brilliant, warm, friendly and knowledgeable. Particular thanks to our great head waiter Jean Phillipe with whom we discussed more than just food. M Troisgros was also a most genial host. Two days celebrating my 70th birthday were very well spent.

we have been to Roanne before and now to the new place... still remembering the perfect dinner we had in Roanne and the modern room. The new place is gorgeous in-midst the countryside with a huge park and lake, you can take a rowboat which are provided. It is peaceful. The building were old farm houses and a bourgeois villa converted into a modern but still complimenting the past Hotel. We had room No. 30, reachable by elevator and 2 steps up. A corner room and a homage on colors, comfort and style. Some less practical and wifi a bit weak. The shower in the bathroom had a huge shower-hat when turned on provided led lights within. Space for a free-standing tub and gadgets but less space to place your cosmetics, I realize with age I need more e.hg. more space. The welcome with a big brioche and homemade ice-tea was simply the best. We enjoyed our one night and appreciated the different style for the short period. The breakfast was great, in taste and presentation, all staff were friendly and always greeted us . Photos speak more than 1000 words, I have added a lot. Restaurant sep. review
