Detailed Reviews
What a great experience - if you are looking for relaxation, nature, clean accommodation and gourmet dining. This Inn is not located in a big metropolis but is only 20 to 30 minutes from the town of Amherst. The Inn is situated in a rural setting, on the shores of Northumberland Strait, looking out at Prince Edward Island and surrounded by a number of Provincial Parks offering good hiking. There are so many good things about the Amherst Shore Country Inn. Three of the highlights are the two owners, Rob and Mary, along with Marvin, the Inn's cat. Actually Marvin has more dog like characteristics than a cat. Do yourself a favour and plan a visit yourself.

We stayed at the Inn for a wedding nearby, and hadn’t been to Amherst before except as a stop along the way to somewhere else. We heard very good things about the Inn… and it still managed to exceed our every expectation.
The chalet we stayed in was wonderful. Full kitchenette, comfortable bed, spacious seating/lounging area, and a view to the Northumberland Strait that was especially superb at sunset.
The Laceby family are excellent hosts, and their kitchen turns out excellent meals. The dinners they offer are every bit the equal to a high-end restaurant in the glitziest area of any city, and their chocolate cheesecake will make guest appearances in my dreams for years to come.
As I said to Mary during checkout… this may have been our first stay at the Inn, but it will definitely not be our last.

Room Tip:Â The rooms are quite nice, but if you can book a chalet, do it. It is well worth it.

Absolutely blown away by our weekend there.
The food was more than amazing, and waking up to all the freshly baked goods was absolutely a treat. This is a great spot to wind down and spend some quality time with your loved one.
The hosts are also top notch, really friendly and professional.

After a three hour drive on a cold day, we were greeted by owner Mary and Marvin the resident "outdoor" cat. The chalet was beautifully designed, immaculate, with everything we needed and more. The fire was burning beside a comfortable wing chair with a sofa close by to stretch out on. Sun poured through the windows giving us a view of PEI across the Strait . We took a walk down the lane and along the shore one afternoon and the next day explored the well marked five k trail across the road. The food was exquisite - dinners and breakfasts both delicious works of art. Marvin greeted us outdoors often and deigned to visit us in our chalet a few times. Delightful feline! A totally relaxing holiday.

Stayed here for a couple of nights. Rooms are older but clean, kitchenette had the necessary basics. Hosts are very accommodating. The grounds are well kept, the scenery and walking trails are exquisite. The natural beauty surrounding the inn and cabins are tremendous. Very tranquil and a great place to kick back and relax. Lots of lawn games available. Disappointing that the restaurant is not open all week, but will arrange out next visit so that we can try out their menu and have heard wonderful things about their food. We did have some baked goods that we purchased at their Inn's counter and they were delicious.

One of the most beautiful properties on the Northumberland Strait. Beautiful grounds with access to a lovely beach. Accommodations were excellent and the staff topnotch. Would recommend Amherst Shore Country Inn to anyone traveling thru this part of Nova Scotia.

We have stayed here many times. We stay in one of the fully equipped chalets and enjoy the double jacuzzi very much. The grounds are gorgeous, and we enjoy the lawn games and visits with Marvin the cat. Mary is a wonderful hostess, and last, but definitely not least is the food, which is absolutely divine.!! The perfect spot for a romantic getaway.

We were taken aback at the accommodation quality of the Amherst Shore Inn after reading the reviews. The distance from Amherst itself made it a less than convenient location to use when visiting Amherst. The 1960's decor of the main Inn rooms were less than impressive (unless you enjoy pink frills) with nothing that could accommodate all our children adequately. However, if you are eating at the Amherst Shore you will not be disappointed. Dinners are great and breakfasts equally as good.

The Amhest Country Inn offers a package with dinner as well as the bed and breakfast. The food was truly first class and the service was exceptional. We were served cocktails in the parlor before dinner and then shown into the dining room, which overlooked the sea. A small fire was burning, which was a nice touch on a fall evening. Soft classical music added the finishing touch.
Breakfast was in the same room, and a fire was burning then, as well--a really nice accompaniment on a brsik morning. The food was perfectly prepared and presented--all homemade from the scones (heavenly) on down.
The only downside was the whole place came across as rather dark--our room was done in blues and grays, and while comfortable and clean, seemed a bit dated. The furniture in our suite was very comfortable, and the place was blissfully quiet, which after a long day on the road was a big plus. The beach was lovely, and offered a nice walk in the morning. We found it rather rocky for swimming, but the water was still warm enough in late September, so this was a pluis.

The grounds stretching to the water are the best thing about this inn, with large herb and vegetable gardens and a vast lawn. Our rooms in the lower level of the main house had too much of a basement ambience, and the outside entrance from a patio opened to a unattractive room with a big freezer. One room had sliding doors that didn't function. The ceilings were low, and the furnishings and decorating were more tired and sad than period correct.
We arrived too late for dinner, but we did have breakfast the next morning, and the room and the table settings were very pleasant. We enjoyed our young server, and the food was well prepared and presented.
We appreciated the long history of property, and our arrival was sufficiently welcoming, but none of us are big B&B fans. Perhaps those who are and who are assigned better rooms will have a more positive experience.

No unfortunately we do not have a wheelchair accessible room here at the Amherst Shore Country Inn. If you are going to be in the Wolfville area of Nova Scotia our sister property, the Blomidon Inn, does have a wheelchair accessible room.
