The room was big, king bed was very comfortable, best feature was an espresso machine with excellent coffee! The little kitchen area was amazing, very well thought through, our room was in the loft upstairs - we had everything one might need. There was also a small hot tub and a pool on the property. They were well organized to maintain social distancing, breakfast was on a terrasse where you came with a small basket, took your things and went back to eat in your room where there was a small table with two chairs. The owners were very friendly.
This is our second time here, and I must say that we're delighted about this place. Very well located, the rooms are charming, very well equipped and arranged, the beds are firm and comfortable. Esther and Jean, our hosts, are charming, their warmth welcome and care during the stay are equal as their friendliness. Besides, wait to enjoy Esther's breakfasts, they are delicious, really, presented with attention, different each day, and all home made! There is also, at your disposal, a SPA and a small swimming pool. If you need advises on what to visit, where to eat in the region, Esther and Jean will be inexhaustible in recommendations.
It's been a week that we're waiting for their call... My husband called them Saturday for an information, then I send them email Wednesday... nothing. Too bad for them, too bad for us. We booked somewhere else.
The house is beautifully decorated with lots of character. Our hosts Esther and Jean were very welcoming and very helpful. Breakfast was wonderful - we stayed two nights and we were offered a different breakfast each day - freshly squeezed orange juice, local cheeses, fruit and yoghurt and a cooked course (eg pancakes with fruit and maple syrup or eggs in muffins etc). We were given helpful advice about attractions in the area. The only (small) downside was the size of our bathroom. We stayed in the Champetre room - lovely, with a comfortable bed but the "bathroom" is really a shower room and very small. We were shown other rooms which were beautiful and really spacious. It would be worth spending a little more to stay in, for example, the Juliet Room, the Antique Room or the suite (Gabelle?). Check out the room photos. Great location for Maurice National Park.…
We recently spent time in this region to hike some trails in the Parc de la Mauricie National Park and to visit my man's place of birth (Shawinigan). We spent 3 nights at this lovely B&B, in the Romeo & Juliette room. The room is spacious, the bed extremely comfortable and firm but one thing that makes this place so great, is the warmth and friendliness of Esther and Jean. Both hosts were interested in what we wanted to do in the region and were quick to help with recommendations on places to dine (BYOB too). The other fantastic thing about this particular B&B is Esther's breakfasts! Oh là là.. They are not only delicious, healthy, fresh and nourishing, their presentation is beautiful! We got to sit and eat in the sunroom every morning which was the perfect start to our busy days of exploration! This region is very pretty, and this B&B is a gem. Merci Esther et Jean, vous êtes très aimables, sympathiques et nous étions très bien acceuilli et nourri pendant notre séjour chez vous!…
We had a very pleasant one night stay at this B&B near Shawinigan. Our GPS took us through Shawinigan and on to the freeway so I'm not real sure how close this property is to Shawinigan. It is not too far, but definitely not "in town." The property is more in the country with a nice view of a wide river in front. The view, I understand, is part of the city of energy or something along that line that Shawinigan is known for. The room was very clean and fairly typical for this type of place. The property is a newer construction so it lacks the "charm" and unusual shapes of an older facility. This does not take away from the functionality of Domaine de la Baie. It is very adequate. The host and his wife were very pleasant and helpful. While French is their native tongue, they can communicate quite well in English. They provided a beautiful breakfast the next morning. Overall this was a good experience and one I would recommend.…
We stayed for 1 night in the St Maurice room, it has a king bed, a small kitchen, a nice bathroom with a tub and a shower and a spa on the balcony. The view of the River is incredible. The fridge make a lot of noise and the curtains don't really block the sun but the room is really spacious and nice. The B&B is located near the main road so it can be noisy but really close to the highway and downtown Shawinigan. We didn't meet the owners as they were away but Nadine and her husband were super super nice and breakfast was really good. We really enjoyed our stay.
This B&B is very nice place to stay in Shawinigan. The location is calm and only a few mins away from the downtown. You have access to a spa, sauna and pool. The host was friendly and helpful. We rent the "Romeo et Juliette" room, this room is nicely equipped (TV, refrigerator, bath and shower,...), it was very clean and isolated (we ear nothing from others rooms or others floors...) The only negative think of this room is that the patio door open to the road, and there is some traffic. As breakfast, it's a 2 service breakfast. We stay 2 nights and both days the breakfast was original and excellent!
