In a small village, up on Odem mountain, surrounded with all shapes of green (nature) and red (volcanic), the Golan Heights Hostel is simply love at first sight. Buzzing with travelers from around the world, it is quite common to come here for a day and stay for weeks. With perfect access to the many hiking trails from our front door, we also make a great base for outdoor activities.

Golan Heights Hostel will go down as one of our favourite accommodations of our three week trip to Israel. Right from our reception by volunteers, Abigail and Dineke, to the time of our departure our experience was fantastic. We had booked the little outside caravan but it was unseasonably cold and snowy so they offered us a spot in the main building. The hostel is well-designed and has everything you would need or want, including items for purchase to prepare a simple meal and second-hand clothing. The whole place was absolutely spotless. We had a chance to to do some laundry (small fee) and watched a very funny movie with some of the other guests.

We haven't done much hostelling in a few years so it was good to see that there are still excellent hostels out there.

This is literally one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in during four years of travelling around the world.

So warm and cozy, extremely clean, friendliest volunteers and staff, has everything you could need somehow while located in isolated adorable Odem. I was put off by the high price at first but if any hostel can charge it it’s GHH! There’s lots to do in the area and the staff is happy to help you figure out any activities.

Lead the manager runs a tight ship, I’m seriously so happy I stayed here!

I visited this hostel in March 2023 for two nights. I should have stayed 3 or 4. I arrived late at night past the check in time but thankfully Lily and Mara were there to greet us. The owner was on vacation but Lily and Mara did a great job at showing me everything that I needed to know.

The hostel was very very clean, better than many hotels. The showers are especially good - really clean and also really warm which is necessary because the golan area can get quite chilly in the evenings. They clean the bathrooms 3 times per day and it shows.

The best thing about the hostel was the community atmosphere. The type of people that are attracted to the hostel tend to be social and i think the location in a more natural area encourages that. Lily and Mara gave us great recommendations even though they were new to the area and we did a group hike too. The hostel itself also has many resources for figuring out what to do in the area. The other people in the hostel were also fun - it felt like we were all staying at a cottage together.

The area around the hostel is nice too. Great scenery, lots of Druze towns, and excellent natural water bodies for swimming. The area feels very safe. I would recommend trying to arrive while it is still light outside though. The roads are good but not well-lit.

Thanks to Lily and Mara for a great stay and to the owner Liad for creating such a beautiful space. I will for sure be back as soon as I can!!

Well organized. Loved the mattresses and curtains in dorms. Bought groceries from owner at an affordable rate. Place is clean. Owner helped with a gps app that enabled me as a solotraveller to do hikes in the area.

In my opinion the Golan Heights Hostel is the best hostel in Israel. It is located in a beautiful are of the Golan Heights full of amazing hiking possibilities, it has amazing people running it. The owners are great people that will make you feel in their hostel like at home! The beds in the hostel are super comfortable, the floors are heated and the pancakes for breakfast are delicious! :) It's a unique place, you can feel the positive energy that the owners put into building it and you will immediately fall in love with it. Just go there and see for yourself! It's 100% worth it!

I stayed here for a couple of nights. I found the hostel to be very nice - it was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. The place is a great value and it;s in a beautiful location. Best if you have your own car but there are buses you can take to get here.

Fast free wifi, pancakes + tea and coffee for breakfast and the heated floors were all a nice plus.

I spent a great long weekend with my wife at the Golan Heights Hostel, and it was perfect.
We stayed at the double en-suite room, which was beautiful and very comfortable.
The sub-floor heating works great all over the hostel, which is very important in an area that sometimes gets very cold.
You can see the owners put a lot of thought into the hostel, and being the seasoned travelers they are, they knew what their guests would enjoy.
Common areas are designed very well - beautiful, fun and very convenient, the spacious living room and well equipped kitchen are great places to meet fellow travelers.
Spending some time with Liad, one of the owners, shows you he's in it mainly for the pleasure of meeting and hosting new friends from all over the world, which makes him a wonderful host.
We had a great Friday night dinner with other guests, hostel owner and volunteers, and also traveled together the next day.
The area offers some great views, a wild scenery, great hiking, local food and wine.
The Odem Winery, Jubat El Kbireh (the great Juba), and a couple of nice hiking trails are walking distance, and many other attractions (Mt. Hermon, Banias nature reserve, Nimrod castle, Mt. Bental, Hula valley, to name a few) are a short drive away, so a car would be useful, but also public transportation and hitch-hiking would do the job, and maybe even add a bit to the adventure.
The hostel staff is very helpful and can provide much information as to what to do and how to get there.

I can't wait to come back again!

We have spend a very special weekend in the Golan Heights Hostel. What a great place to stay! The people working / volunteering in the hostel are super welcoming, open to share their knowledge on the Golan with their guests. The atmosphere is informal and cosy. We learnt a lot about the region, got some great advice on what to do and where to go. We will come back. And not just once, but hopefully many more times to hike, to eat, to talk and discuss, to relax and to have fun.

My husband and I stayed here during a tour set-up with another company. We really had no expectations for Golan Heights or this hostel, but WOW! It was so incredibly clean I couldn't believe it was a hostel! The showers are really cool with hot water all the time! The beds were very comfortable as well. But above all that, the people running the hostel are truly amazing! Yarun and Lead were so welcoming and took really great care of us! They even joined us on most of our adventures! The Golan Heights Hostel is a wonderful place to stay in this beautiful area! On our next trip to Israel, Golan Heights Hostel will definitely be on itinerary! Great great great place!

We went up to the Golan to go hiking and were recommended the Golan Heights Hostel as a starting point. It turned out to be a very good choice. The Hostel is a wonderful and peaceful place that will be hard to leave. Liad and Yaron who are running the place and started just a few months ago have created something unique. It nice to stay here but also the perfect starting point for hiking in the Golan. After two days in the area we decided to do the Golan Heights Trail. It starts on Mount Hermon and ends close to the Sea of Galilee. However, as temperatures started to get very high Yaron suggested to us to stay further north in the mountains where temperatures are not quite as high. He helped us plan a wonderful 6 day trip with few transports on the way. As he seems to know every rock of the Golan Heights his help is very valuable. The hostel also offers equipment for rent for fair rates which is very helpful when traveling from overseas.

I would recommend this place to anyone interested in staying a hostel in the Golan without any reservations. The Hostel Team is very helpful when organizing trips. Their recommendations are legitimate and not aimed at making you spend as much money in the Hostel as possible.
