We stayed here only one night and wish it could have been longer. The grounds and buildings are very pretty and lie next to a nice-sized lake that seems popular for fishing. Our room looked out onto the lake. The B&B is handy and easy access to town and the major motorway, but was very quiet--road noise NEVER a factor. We would stay here again and highly recommend it.

We booked this Hotel / Gites / Restaurant for a night on our return leg of our trip to Italy. After the horror we encountered on our way to Italy (see Hotel de L''Europe, St Jean de Maurenne) I was sort of dreading what this place would be like. I need not have worried. It was wonderful. Firstly, it was in the middle of nowhere and was a beautiful sprawling barn and farm conversion. We checked in and were led across a courtyard to a double-doored entrance hall with coffee tables, TV, books etc. Led up the staircase to a rustic door and led in. What a beautiful room it was. Easily three times the size of a normal hotel room. Desk with postcards, writing equipment etc., chair, armchairs and coffee table looking out onto the courtyard. And a beautifully made king-sized bed, crisp and clean waiting to be jumped on. The bathroom was also of an immense size with a small selection of toiletries, however, this particular room did not have a shower which is my preference. The only down side to all this was that the shower gel / shampoo dispenser was at the foot of the bath about 3 feet high and you had to stand up to keep refreshing your supply. We had booked a table for our evening meal with plenty of time for a leisurely soak and get ready. The restauranat was back in the main building just off reception. We had a lovely meal which cost us 27.50€ each for 4 courses, although not perfect, just little things like potato dauphinoise over salty, it was very enjoyable. The only downside to the meal was the lady who was serving was ever present and stood watching the room. I suppose she needed to see what was happening to clear plates etc but was so obvious it felt uncomfortable. I did not have breakfast but my husband said it was more of the same and felt like she was making sure you didn't take too much (usual continental fare). We were only there for one night but I would happily stay again and hope to do so for a trip to the Auvergne. Sorry to be critical again but that is why we review, to give the good and the bad. The building we were staying in was a couple of minutes walk across the courtyard and it was raining particularly heavily, there is a barrier between the car parking area and the accommodation and cars are not allowed in. It would have been helpful to drive up, unload cases and then move the car back. Not too much of a problem for us as we only had overnight bags but we noticed that some of the accommadtion were gites and it would have been a pain to drag heavy suitcases and a weeks worth of supplies for the distance. Maybe they made an exception in those cases. All in all it was a lovely place and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending and going back myself. Just don't tell too many people, we want it to have a room available for us. Just one more thing, we couldnt get the wifi to work and the lady had zero knowledge of technology so we had to do without. Okay for one night but hopefully could be resolved if we were staying longer.

We had a most pleasant and comfortable stay in a superb quiet rural idyll . The rooms were spacious and comfortable ( excellent mattresses - I have a bad back but the bed was extremely comfy) and increidbly clean. The bathroom was also extremely well appointed , large and after a couple of weeks of showers only I was personaly delighted to have a wonderfully big and long bath to luxuriate in. Not a luxury hotel but very comfy and pleasant. Service was efficient and friendly and the restaurant offered an excellent menu with mostly local dishes and using regional ingredients. There is also a gite and a small "lake" ( very popular with fishermen !) and the whole property is perfect for a little R&R in a lovely environment.
