It was our first time at a B&B, it was an old jail from the early 1800's. Very clean with 6 beautiful room to stay in,and a jail cell too. The staff was a pleasure to be with, knowledgeable about the jail history and the town. We sat down to the breakfast table with 5 other people, had baked french toast...

We had a fun time at jailer Inn. The first evening we sit outside and the employee tell us ghost stories and the history of Bardstown . Everyone around there is very friendly and helpful. My sister and mom and I laugh so hard. We had a great time. That nite we both experience ghost in our room.

Some friends recommended this bed and breakfast. We booked the suite, so our room was not in the jail. However, we did get a tour of the jail and saw the former jail cells that have been converted to rooms. It was a very comfortable place to stay. The owner was extremely accommodating. Breakfast each morning was very good. As...

A must to visit and a great place to stay! We loved the jail cell room. Breakfast was great, the owner is awesome! History behind the jail is cool, right in the middle of downtown, easy walk to some great restaurants.

We were fortunate enough to celebrate my mother-in-law's 90th birthday in this special place. Three of my family stayed in the family suite, which was absolutely perfect for my mother-in-law. My husband & I stayed in an upstairs room the first night, then in the jail-cell room the next 2 nights. While small & a bit stuffy (thick walls &...

While visiting Bardstown we visited this place so we could tour the old jail. We didn't stay at the Inn because we weren't staying the night there, but after seeing the place we would definitely stay there in the future. It was very clean and the staff was friendly. The innkeeper gave us a tour of the jail and after...

We were on the bourbon trail and called at the last minute for a room and luckily they had one available. Arrival was quick and we had the king size bed in our room. Nice amenities in the room. The court yard outside was wonderful to eat breakfast in and very filling. Afterwards Paul took everyone for tour inside the...

When we travel, we are always looking for something unique, and the Jailer Inn is just that. It is the old county jail that is now a bed and breakfast. The owner Paul was there to greet us when we arrived and made us feel right at home. He has some great stories to share about the old jail and...

We stumbled on to this hotel while looking at another B&B nearby. Historic hotel with up to date amenities. You could even be visited by one of the ghost that frequent the grounds. Take advantage of the courtyard. Lovely spots are there to relax in privacy. This is also the breakfast area. Paul also gives you a tour after breakfast....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Iron bars on windows, 30 inch thick limestone walls, and a heavy steel door slamming behind you may not sound like the typical tourist accommodation. However, Jailer's Inn is anything but typical. The historic Jailer's Inn, circa 1819, in the center of Bardstown, Kentucky offers a unique and luxurious way to "do time." Jailer's Inn is a place of wonderful, thought provoking contrasts. Each of our seven guest rooms are beautifully decorated with antiques and heirlooms, and offer private bathrooms, some with a double Jacuzzi. All located in the renovated front jail, built in 1819. The back jail, built in 1874, is basically unchanged; you get a chilling, sobering look at former conditions in the old Nelson County jail used in full operation up until 1987. Catch a glimpse of life seldom seen in these two historic jails listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. On spring and summer mornings, as you sip hot coffee and chat with other guests over a full breakfast in the courtyard, it's difficult to imagine all of the previous uses of the courtyard, a place to visit forlorn relatives or even the centralized location of the Nelson County gallows. Come "do time" in jail and unlock an adventure in history. Whether you sleep in the elegant Victorian Room, rest and read in the Library Room or enjoy the peaceful setting of the Garden Room, it will be a "captivating experience." ... more   less
