My husband and I stopped at this fun little inn in beautiful Bardstown en route to a family holiday in Nashville. The renovation on this old place is remarkable in having preserved interesting elements of its historic structure, while turning it into a really cozy and welcoming place for overnight travelers. No ghostie experiences to speak of - nothing really...

stayed in the jail cell and was very cozy. Small but 2 people can get around just fine. The water bed was a big surprise !! oddly I felt very safe in there :) The tavern next door had a really great menu

We had talked about visiting bardstown for a couple of years now, and finally had the opportunity. We stumbled on the Jailers Inn while doing an internet search on places to stay. Then I checked trip advisor, and decided it was a definite destination. First let me say the entire area is breathtaking, and full of entertainment possibilities. And luckily...

My husband and I stayed in the cell room by the courtyard. I had gone into the room early in the day to get something and was by myself, I heard what I could only describe as a moaning sound. I thought that maybe it was a car driving by outside. I didn't say anything to my husband or our...

I tried to make reservations here but Paul was booked, he said stop by when we were in town and he would show us the place. We stayed at another B&B that I was disappointed in but I did not rate that place because it's up for sale. Paul was very pleasant and took the time to show us around...

We spent two nights here as a family and had a lot of fun. The Inn is located within walking distance to all of down town. We rented two rooms the first night putting our teenagers in the cell and taking a room to ourselves. That was great! All four of us stayed in the cell for the second night....

We stayed for 2 nights. It is very clean, staff very very nice and helpful. We stayed in family suite, no ghost activity but the girls just got a kick over the history and the thought of ghosts. Talking and meeting the other guests in the morning during a wonderful breakfast was great. The only down side, isn't with b&b,...

My group and I really enjoyed our recent stay at this B&B. We had two rooms: The Victorian and The 1812 -- both were beautifully furnished and immaculate. The beds were super-comfy and we were all able to get a good night's sleep after spending the day touring local distilleries. Breakfast was served in the courtyard and was quite good:...

I have been to many B&Bs and would rate this one as average. When we arrived we waited 15 minutes for hostess to show up. Hand written note said she was giving a "tour". She was in such a hurry to get back to her one tour customer that we received a quick walk to our room to unlock the...

We first found the Jailer's Inn on the internet and couldn't wait to visit. It was a favorite hiding place of Jessie James and is steeped in history. We slept in the jail cell. It's far from glamorous - but it was a lot of fun. More then just a place to stay the night, the Jailer's Inn is an...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Iron bars on windows, 30 inch thick limestone walls, and a heavy steel door slamming behind you may not sound like the typical tourist accommodation. However, Jailer's Inn is anything but typical. The historic Jailer's Inn, circa 1819, in the center of Bardstown, Kentucky offers a unique and luxurious way to "do time." Jailer's Inn is a place of wonderful, thought provoking contrasts. Each of our seven guest rooms are beautifully decorated with antiques and heirlooms, and offer private bathrooms, some with a double Jacuzzi. All located in the renovated front jail, built in 1819. The back jail, built in 1874, is basically unchanged; you get a chilling, sobering look at former conditions in the old Nelson County jail used in full operation up until 1987. Catch a glimpse of life seldom seen in these two historic jails listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. On spring and summer mornings, as you sip hot coffee and chat with other guests over a full breakfast in the courtyard, it's difficult to imagine all of the previous uses of the courtyard, a place to visit forlorn relatives or even the centralized location of the Nelson County gallows. Come "do time" in jail and unlock an adventure in history. Whether you sleep in the elegant Victorian Room, rest and read in the Library Room or enjoy the peaceful setting of the Garden Room, it will be a "captivating experience." ... more   less
