The room was dated but clean with upgrade paper products and the bed comfy. It was close to all that we wanted to do and the breakfast was fine. Our AARP discount was not honored because we did not book directly with the hotel. Nothing special but ok for a night.

My husband and I chose this place as a stopping point coming back from our holiday with his family in Buffalo. We were going to stop in Louisville where we stayed on the way up and it went up $100 more then when we originally stayed. Back to this place. We came in during the evening so didn't have the...

We stayed on the spur of the moment and were very plesantly surprized, The General Nelson Inn is an older, completely refurbished hotel is good location. Rooms were very well appointed, and spotless. There is a large TV, Ironing board, refrigerator, microwave and comfortable chair to relax in. The beds were new.

We stayed the night of 12 Nov. The receptionist was very friendly and knowledgeable about Bardstown and the general area. She recommended dinner at the Rickhouse among other places. Hotel room was nice and clean. The hotel is older and rooms are smaller than newer chain hotels, but the price is much better. Breakfast was excellent. Next time we are...

Best part was the wide selection of items on the hot buffet (sausage, make your own pancakes, scrambled & hard boiled eggs...) & friendly staff. Hotel itself is clean & comfortable though older & a bit tired looking.

Arrived at this hotel at 3:00 pm after a very long drive. Had a confirmed reservation, but when I tried to check in was told that none of the rooms for Kentucky Music Week participants would not be ready until afte 4:00 pm. They did check in other guests however. Finally I was given a handicapped room which was only...

Staff at checkin was friendly. That's the only positive of this stay. Mold in bathroom on ceiling and shower walls. Back of Toilet seat cover was not properly on. Paint chipping on walls. Overall cleanliness was not acceptable. What you see in pictures online is not what you get. Upon checkout, when showing the staff the issues with our room...

We were visiting bardstown for 3 days & 2 nights & tried like 3 hotels before this one... the first one we tried, we waited like 15 minutes for someone to come give us a room & then left when no one noticed us, another one (my old kentucky home) my aunt walked in & back out of as she...

The reason for our visit to Bardstown was the Bourbon Trail. Since this is a big attraction, one would think there would be quite a few choices for accommodations. With few choices available, and after reading the reviews, we booked two nights at the General Nelson Inn. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and really couldn't have been nicer....

We weren't looking for anything fancy, something clean, safe and close to downtown Bardstown. That's exactly what the General Nelson Inn is; friendly staff, clean room, although overall I think "tired" is the best way to describe the hotel. Safe area and close to downtown. They offer a complimentary breakfast, but we didn't eat there, we went to Mammy's Kitchen...
