One of the reasons people love our property is our proximity to Elkhorn Creek and its activities. Some of our RV sites literally rest on the banks of the creek. This makes us an ideal location for people who love to kayak, canoe, fish, and enjoy the sounds of the water. The other reason guests love us is our location to thoroughbred farms, Keeneland and Churchill Downs. We are ON THE BOURBON TRAIL - down the street from Buffalo Trace among other distilleries. We have an assortment of well-maintained sites for you to choose from that include full hook-up sites, electric and water-only sites, and a few pull-thru including BIG rig sites. We have a large pool and children can play on the playground or test their skills at our Putt-Putt golf.

We loved our week at Elkhorn Creek RV Park! We have stayed in 5 campgrounds since mid August and Elkhorn is by far the best. We met several of the office staff as well as grounds keepers and ALL of them were so helpful and made several suggestions of things for us to see and do. Although we didnā€™t use it (too busy), the pool was large and clean, and the bathrooms are the best EVER!! Always clean, no matter what time of day I used them. Someone was always cleaning inside or outside or doing yard work most of the day. The sites were a little close, but all campers were friendly and respectful of others concerning noise, etc so it wasnā€™t a problem. We hated to leave, but needed to continue our adventure.
We highly recommend and would definitely return!

We highly recommend this campground. Our visit began with very friendly staff. The property is well laid out and meticulously maintained. Many sites are on the Elkhorn Creek and have water and electric. Interior sites have full hook ups. Very clean showers and bathrooms. They also have a pool. It's not far from grocery stores and shopping.

We will go again any time we are in the area.

We are new to the RV camping world and this was our second time out, so our campground experiences are limited. We enjoyed our stay and will most likely return in the future. It is an older facility, but was purchased last year and they have many upgrades they are planning. The bathhouse is VERY clean and had everything we needed. We did not use the laundry room, but peek in and it was also very clean and had several machines available. Since we stayed in March, it was a bit of the off season and many amenities were not all up and running. It looks like a great Family place in the summer - with a wonderful pool area. We stayed in Site 75A. We had originally booked a site along the creek, but then realized they were not full hook ups (our mistake not reading the website close enough) - They had a full hook up spot available which was great. The staff was helpful and pleasant. We hope to return and see the changes they are planning!

We have camped here many times before, but the family-owned feel is gone. They have made some nice upgrades, but the customer service is missing completely. We arrived at our site to find it full of garbage- all around the campsite and in the fire pit. Cans on the picnic table, trash all around, many cigarette butts, and glass and plastic bottles in the fire pit along with plastic grocery bags and leftover food. There was even a used mop hanging in the tree!Disgusting and totally unacceptable. When I went to the office, his response was that heā€™d been busy and was short staffed in maintenance. That may be true, but we paid a very high price for the campsite (higher than anyplace weā€™ve stayed in Kentucky or Indiana) and all I got was excuses. No attempt to make amends of any sort. The sites are very close together, but the sites on the creek are very nice. Itā€™s too bad they arenā€™t providing great customer service.

We are sorry for your poor experience at our RV park. The description of your site sounds unacceptable, and the entire team has been informed. We believe this was a rare occurrence and are working to ensure that no one else finds a campsite in this condition. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention so we can do better.

We stayed here in Site #62 for four nights in May and truly enjoyed our visit. Staff was super friendly and easy to work with even with us making our reservations almost year in advance. Grounds were wonderfully kept. Our site was a back-in on a concrete pad. All utilities were good. We use AT&T for cell and hotspot and while signal strength was not great, speed was excellent. Definitely an excellent place to stay.

Campground was beautiful and nice BUT our only complaint is, define your rule of ā€œWell behaved dogs/petsā€ Our dogs are not aggressive nor do they bark all day long. We were told that we could not stay because our dogs kept barking and the Owner, came over to say he didnā€™t buy the campground to listen to dogs bark all day long so DO NOT say that you are pet friendly. WHAT do you think dogs do? They BARK! I would not consider this campground if you have pets!

The team at Elkhorn Creek RV park, including the owners, adore our well behaved pets and their owners. The great majority of our park pets are well behaved and do bark occasional as dogs do when excited to see another dog, etc. However sometimes we have a pet that will yap nonstop for hours when their owners are away from their rig. These rare occasions are not pleasant for our other park guests, and quite frankly not healthy for the pet who is suffering the separation anxiety. We do try to suggest alternatives to the pet's owner ,as we did with you, such as taking the pet along with you, finding a sitter, etc. We have plans to update Elkhorn RV Park that include many fenced pet areas, agility toys for dogs, a pet laundry and a pet bathing facility. Our last RV park was voted one of the top 10 parks for pets in the US by Rover Pass website. We will strive to reach this level of recognition for our pet hospitality at Elkhorn Creek RV Park.

We were unable to get a full hook up site but we only needed electric anyway. We had a nice long pull thru site (97) and we were parked next to a nice family.
We enjoyed visiting some of the distilleries in the area.
The people behind sites 98 and 99 parked their big trucks on those lots which caused a problem for other rv's to pull into their site. I let one pull across our lot to get in.
We did ask one of the people to move his truck to let someone pull into their site which he did reluctently. I never saw anyone from the campground ride thru the park.

The South Branch of the Elk Horn Creek surrounds this campground on two sides. Boe was very helpful. It was very scenic. The bath/shower area was always clean. The whole campground was kept clean. The RV sites were level. We could not get WI-Fi connections for our computer. We did get good cell phone service. Some of the RV sites were wet and muddy because of the persistent constant monsoon type of rain showers. There was a miniature golf course, swimming pool, shuffleboard pad, and kids play ground. This was a ā€œclean convenient campground.ā€

WiFi in part is dependent on a camper not turn off the 15amp breaker that runs their WiFi repeater. AT&T cell coverage is very low, 1 bar maybe 2. We had 2 more trips planned to come here but after the bad internet we decided to cancel our next trip here (2 weeks away). They charged us $6 to cancel. So I went ahead and canceled our 2nd trip (6 weeks away) as well. Looks like we won't be back here.

The sites are close together. There was no fire ring. Other sites had no fire ring. A tree in our small space prevented us from opening our awning. When we sat outside we were literally sitting right next to our neighbors hook ups. We were booked for a week. We had new neighbors every day. We left a day early. The bathhouse was very nice!

We bought Elkhorn Creek RV Park in May 2022. Its sites were laid out over 40 years ago when RVs were smaller. Our renovation plans certainly include re-configuring sites to be more accommodating to today's larger RVs and adding amenities that modern RVers appreciate. Thank you for your feedback and the kind words about the bathhouse. Be safe no matter where your journey takes you!
