Very nice and super clean! We had a two queen bed room and it was spacious with a separate area for the fridge, microwave and Keurig coffee maker. The room has a large tv, in room safe, hair dryer, desk w/chair and many charging outlets. It also has a sturdy luggage stand, hooks for hanging things, a dresser and a wardrobe closet. In the spacious area next to the beds, there is large chaise and a little table stand. The shower was hot and had great water pressure. This location also serves a continental breakfast with the choice of biscuits & gravy, sausage, eggs, waffles and various types of other cold breakfast’s. The beds were lifted off the floor and super comfortable. The staff was awesome! Everyone is super nice and accommodating. Upon arrival we were given a list of local restaurants and places that were highly recommended. This location also had a large lounge area, an indoor pool, hot tub and gym. My daughter plays on a travel volleyball team and we stay in a lot of hotels in a six month period and this IHG was one of the best we’ve stayed in during the past 3 months! I highly recommend this location !

From the moment Susan checked us in at this property, we felt this to be a good experience. Every staff member went out of their way to be helpful for our stay on Sat and Sunday evenings. The spa was clean, the breakfasts were delicious. And the staff members cooking the breakfast were very particular about keeping the area neat and clean. This is not easy with so many people very early in the morning. The staff made recommendations about restaurants as well. The room was spotless and the hotel provided PLENTY of towels (this is a particular issue with me and they came through brilliantly). The bed was very comfortable and the amenities were appreciated. We have stayed at other places in Louisville, but this property was by far the best experience we have had. And the location is very convenient to both I-64 and I-264 as well as the by pass. And the hotel is QUIET. They have a strict "no parties" and "no smoking" policy and I am really thankful for that.

Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was OK (NO cinnamon rolls) . A few places to eat near by. Location is a little off freeway, you have to watch streets carefully to get to hotel, and traffic was heavy at 4:30pm. Love those HIE king size pillows.

First off they charge and extra $20/day damage deposit in advance which they do not tell you until check in. So add that to the cost. The room was perfectly clean and the beds were comfortable, but they were too high off the ground about 3 feet tall from floor to mattress. The air conditioner in our room was so loud we could not sleep. Desk staff did not seem to care. Walls were thin. Kids keep screaming & running the halls after midnight trying to get into the rooms. Due to Covid we called a week in advance to see if the pool/hot tub would be open. We were told they would be. We also specifically asked about the breakfast and were told it was a 'full, hot breakfast'. When we arrived the pool/hot tub had apparently been shut down since March due to Covid and would not be open. The breakfast was all prepackaged junk. Mostly cereal and oatmeal. Only apples, bananas, and bread for toast were unpackaged. No other options. We don't mind that hotels have to take covid restrictions. What we mind is that we were not told the truth. They did not tell us the truth that the pool being closed, that there was a $20/day upcharge, or that the breakfast options were all prepackaged. We would have stayed elsewhere for the price charged had we known.

Response from IHG Service, Owner at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Louisville East, an IHG hotel

Hi Q9128JJsherryw, Thank you for taking a moment of your day to provide feedback about your recent stay. I am happy to read you appreciate our clean room and comfortable beds. We make sure your hotel experience is catered to your needs. I am sorry to learn that we fell below par during your stay due to the air conditioning unit in your room and the level of customer service delivered surrounding the information on the modifications of our few brands. I recognize your frustration about the charges, limited breakfast offering, and hotel pool closure. We make every effort to keep our guests informed through the online IHG Travel Advisory website. We appreciate you letting us know. I have shared your comments with the hotel management as a reference to the improvement of our service and awareness of communication protocols. I am confident the steps taken will help us thrive where we fall short. Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts and concerns. We hope to create more positive memories with you when your travels bring you back to the area. Best, Zel N. Case Manager IHGService

I like the pumps in the shower for soap and shampoo rather than the individual tiny bottles. The motel has two computers available for public use along with a hot tub and pool.I got an accessible room. It has plenty of extra space for maneuvering a wheelchair. There was a shower chair and railings in the shower. Since this is horse country, two horses decorate the lobby. Breakfast was included .

On arrival we were warmly welcomed and thanked for being reward members. The two ladies at the front desk were very hospitable. Even gave us extra plates and napkins when they noticed we came in with our own food. Seemed Ike one of the ladies we saw never left for the duration of our stay, as we saw her early in the morning and late in the evening.
Hotel and room were very clean. Bed was comfortable. Slept well both nights.
Breakfast the first morning was decent. Attendant did a good job in keeping food plenished. Second morning, we discovered that it was the exact options as the first morning. Would have been nice to see some variety. Was quite crowded the 2nd morning, but the attendant tried her best to keep food plenished. Only complaint is that the 2nd morning kids appeared to be there with little or no parental supervision.
Shower had hot water. Only complaint I have is that the conditioner splattered everywhere when I tried using it.
We will be back

This was a bad experience for us. The room was very unhealthy. We were put here for the Kentucky derby by Derby Experiences and made the derby for us a pretty bad experience. The room was musty and moldy as well as dirty. The shower leaked water very bad every time we used it. There was no staff able to help or change rooms for us. It was dirty and dark. The food was gross. They were not well staffed at all. It is very far from Churchill downs if you are ever offered this hotel for the derby you should know this. There were dead bugs in the room. See pics. This might be the worst hotel experience we ever had.

We stayed here one night 9.9.20 as we were making our way towards SC. We arrived late, but I will say the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds are soft and comfortable, and the rooms are very clean and quiet. We were disappointed to learn the hot tub and pool was closed due to CV rules. Though we know that is no fault of the hotel. Thankfully one state over it was no breakfast could be given, but the pool and hot tubs were open. Vs here CV gets those who swim vs eat lol. The breakfast during this time was not like how a holiday inn express typically is. But CV knows if you are eating something hot vs something pre packaged. Though, i have to say from our other hotel stops along our trip this one had the most breakfast options during the virus So we were happy to see that. We loved the room, and the staff and we can’t wait for anytime after november to be back and we would love to return to see just what all it can offer.

Nice clean hotel and good location off freeway. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was OK, seemed to be missing a few essential items - like bananas, yogurt and low fat milk. Coffee was good. A few places to eat near by.

We loved the king suite with a kitchenette and comfortable bed. The area was perfect and had plenty of nearby restaurants from which to choose. Susan at the front desk had some great restaurant recommendations, and they were spot on! Papa John's headquarters has a beautiful park with walking trails very close to the hotel. The hotel was clean, and the housekeeping staff were very friendly. Would recommend.
